Was he in-between hops, or just chilling out?
Your guess is as good as mine. I only saw him when I was looking at the photograph.
We've had a year for cottontails here, there are often 2 or 3 of them grazing in the back yard. The cats have been practicing sneaking up on them. The dogs would stand a good chance of catching them, as fat as the rabbits are.
The deer are coming into rut early this year I think. But normally this happens closer to the first hard freeze, just before T-Day, and the weather is unusually warm this year. The bucks are starting to make themselves seen, where usually I just hear them stomping through the brush, making noise as their racks catch in the brush.
The does are equally unshy. I'll take the dogs into the yard, on a leash, and they stare at us placidly, 20 ft away, nibbling at the berry block I put out for them. Normally the dogs would lunge at them, but they're just as sanguine, content to pass them by.
Watching Hallmark.
It's been a while since I got to vote for Miss Rheingold.
The Bears are going to the Super Bowl this season.
