That gap isn’t just about white evangelicals (although it certainly is partly about them), and it’s one of the Democrats’ chief obstacles to obtaining a durable political majority. Any discussion of the God gap does have to begin with white evangelicals. Their numbers are vast (far more than twice as large as Black Protestants, the most loyal religious Democratic voters), and they vote in lock step. In 2024, white evangelicals voted for Trump by a 65-point margin, 82 percent to 17 percent. Trump lost all other voters by 18 points, 58 percent to 40 percent....

"To understand the religious dynamics of the Texas race, it’s important to absorb the true depths of the 'God gap' in American politics."
Writes David French, in "The ‘God Gap’ Is Narrowing in Texas" (NYT).

Paxton won the Republican Senate nomination with about 886,000 votes.
Texas had 18.7 million registered voters.
In other words, we’ve heard from roughly 886,000 Texans. The other 17.8 million have yet to speak.
…discount any conclusion proffered durning peak political propaganda season. Soon, as the leaves in fall, the meekest will begin the self preservation process by quietly reporting things more closely resembling the truth…
Thank you for the gift link.
I have zero respect for David French
But that said- I don't care about any of this.
The Dems are trying to destroy our county.
Sane people look at the Soviet union with horror and dismay, or at Mao's "great leap forward" with revulsion. Most Democrats now look at those events and say "This is precisely what we want here in America!"
Also: any group of people who hyperventilate about "The Handsmaid Tale" while gleefully putting on a Hijab to show how they are not Islamaphobic.... are braindead, plain and simple.
Last night Jimmy Failla was riffing on the Iranian govt telling Americans to vote D. “What a strange alliance. On one side you’ve got people yelling Death To America. And on the other side you’ve got Iran.” CC, JSM

How many Texans want to trans kids and open borders?
David French is less than perfect when it comes to uncovering TRUTH. Here in Dallas, TX sure there are big evangelical churches, but there are 6 Catholic parishes with 20,000+. Two Episcopal in Dallas proper have over 4,000 each. Don't get started on Catholics in San Antonio they put Dallas to shame. Got any idea how they vote?
Ah, but those black Protestants are the only religious people left in the Democrat party other than the Muslims, and the stray white liberal Universal Unitarians. The Democrat party as a whole has become quite anti-religious and especially anti-Christian. Just take a look on Reddit and you'll see that.
They think that supporting the Israelis in their genocide is going to get them to heaven, “ on a beam of light, just like Moses,” as I heard on a Florida radio station.
Most Jewish Americans do not believe this stuff, any more than Greeks believe in Jupiter and Athena, but evangelicals seem to buy it in large numbers.
Good thing we have attacked Iran, they are a “theocracy”!
Talarico is the antithesis of a guy's guy.
A gay's guy, maybe?

Trump is toast, but the vested interests—Trump, his supporters, and journalists who need material—will keep pretending otherwise.

Sounds like the perfect candidate.
This would be the Republican Armageddon — Democrats win Texas. Hilarious.
