The only parts of Gaza that are "in rubble" are the ones that had tunnels full of terrorists, missile launchers, and weapon caches built under them, which is of course a very large part of Gaza.
Someone pointed out on Twitter that if you go to Google Maps, you can see that none of the buildings along the coast were destroyed. Do you know why? Because the water table near the coast is too high to dig tunnels: they would flood immediately. There are still plenty of elegant restaurants, mansions with wealthy Gazans living in them, shopping centers, and more, that were not destroyed because they had no military targets hidden under them.

The former President of the International Court of Justice (“ICJ”), has confirmed that the ICJ did not find there was a plausible case of genocide against Israel.Judge Joan Donoghue was President of the ICJ when it made its original Provisional Measures Order (“the Order”) in the case brought by South Africa against Israel. She explained the meaning of the Order when interviewed by Stephen Sackur on BBC’s Hardtalk programme, broadcast on 25 April 2024.
Her explanation vindicates statements made by UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) and Natasha
Hausdorff, UKLFI Charitable Trust’s Legal Director, and contradicts media reports and letters
that have misinterpreted the Order. During the interview she said: “I’m glad I have a chance to address that because the Court’s test for deciding whether to impose [provisional] measures uses the idea of plausibility, but the test is the plausibility of the rights that are asserted by the applicant, in this case South Africa. So the court decided that the Palestinians had a plausible right to be protected from genocide and that South Africa had the right to present that claim in the court. It then looked at the facts as well, but it did not decide – and this is something where I’m correcting what’s often said in the media – it didn’t decide that the claim of genocide was plausible.
It did emphasize in the Order that there was a risk of irreparable harm to the Palestinian right to be protected from genocide but the shorthand that often appears, which is that there’s a plausible case of genocide, isn’t what the court decided.”
The ICJ has not issued its final ruling. In the meantime the UN Commission conducted its own investigation and decided to publish their non-binding conclusion, the basis of the Nobel Peace Prize. In their important work they determined based on testimony and statements of some Israeli politicians that Israel intended to to destroy Palestinians in Gaza as a group, AKA, intended to commit a genocide.
We are expected to logically conclude that despite all the bombs and superior weapons and their best efforts, Israel somehow failed to accomplish their aim of destroying the Palestinians in Gaza. After three years the population of Gaza declined about 3% -- which included Hamas fighters, people who had died of natural causes, and the casualties caused by Hamas through faulty rockets and killed for cooperating with the IDF and evacuating their homes after IDF warnings.
