I see a lot of rage baiting with the controversy over one juror on the Clancy trial. Most everybody online seems to be taking the line that this one juror is holding out for a conviction, while the remaining 11 have somehow taken the stance that Clancy isn't guilty of 1st degree murder. But I see this as click mining the outrageous, not driven by logic or any particular insight.
How are they reaching this conclusion, one wonders? I think it's much more likely that it's the other way 'round. The Defense lawyer seemed to be the one most offended by the lone juror. Haven't followed it line by line and didn't listen to the arguments presented by the lawyers or the judge.
Turley seems to think a mistrial followed by re-trial will favor the prosecutor's case.

…yah I saw the video today where the defense gave that reasonable doubt speech re the one juror. how could he know where the jurors were in deliberations? Could he have been banking on mistrial and influencing the next jury pool?
I can see how his floating the idea of kicking out the holdout even though the judge shot it down right quick…

If true, then that would be a mistrial. Or if he's doing it performatively, the judge could sanction him for trying to weasel out a mistrial declaration. I think the judge saw through it, in any case.
I'm still of the opinion that the crowds of fat and/or post-menopausal women in pink, outside, are astroturfed and do not represent anything of the public's real sentiment toward Clancy. I think they're there to disrupt proceedings and undermine the faith in the justice system. Somebody's bankrolling them.
