I gave an Uber ride from the airport to a couple coming to spend time with their daughter and go to the UGA game in Athens, later today. I asked the customary questions, when I sense people are up for pleasantries. They where coming from Mass. I told them I had lived there and the rest to the ride was just wonderful. At some point the conversation started winding down, it was a long ride, Well over 1 hr. The thought of this case, taking place in Mass, came to mind, to bring up as a topic. I nixed the idea in my head. It's just too unpleasant. If they had brought it up, fine. I would have mostly listened. Not offer much.

Filicide is so profoundly repugnant in all its forms. It just seems so against nature to the majority of us, and I am no different. And whether it's just due to my age and upbringing, I will copt to getting more angry when it's a mother, just because of my own feelings about the role of motherhood. I suspect that I am not alone, fair or not.
People are rightly outraged by the murder of children in particular, and even more so when a parent or parents are involved. Let's look at some of broad outlines statistically.
Overall, mothers and fathers murder their born children in roughly equal numbers. This is quite different than the statistics for murder and crimes of violence overall between women and men.
For children under age 1, women are the more likely perpetrators. For children under age 6, 61% of killings are committed by parents, split about 30% by women and 31% by men (and the rest "other"). The vast majority of child-killing takes place in this age cohort, with about third of those under age 1. Note that about 72% of all parental child-killing occurs in this age cohort. Also note that a large proportion of the deaths between 1 and 3 (toddlerhood) are due to "fatal maltreatment," as opposed to outright intentional murder, and both women and men contribute to these stats. Of course, the children are just as dead!!!--and it's just as reprehensible.
At that point, the statistics diverge. From 6 to 15, filicide accounts for about 10% of child murders, and most are committed by men, not women. Men commit between 60% and 70% of these. At age six, mothers and fathers committing filicide are split about 50-50. But by age 8, it shifts definitively to fathers.
For filicides occurring between 9 and 15, fathers are responsible about 66% of the time, with mothers obviously responsible for the rest. From 16 to 18, about 80% of filicides are committed by fathers.
As an aside, in the case of stepparent filicide, about 90% of perpetrators are men. Of course, stepchildren are statistically at much more risk of fatal abuse than biological ones. Now, to be clear, 90% of filicides are committed by biological parents, and 10% by stepparents.
None of this is intended to justify what happened to the murdered Clancy children or any other case like it. But I do think some perspective is valuable when we're discussing the horrible issue of filicide.
The new “having it all” is the power to create and the power to destroy.
I want to acknowledge that I did not due a "deep dive" into this--that could be a book, no doubt! But the statistics stem from reporting by the justice department, NIH, and a 32-year longitudinal study by Brown University. I suspect that if people think about it, the statistics comport with what we see and hear about in real life.

I will also say that it in my view, it's a mistake to derive larger conclusions from individual cases that get massive, sensational press coverage. It skews perspective and ultimately isn't helpful in fixing the overall problem. Again, just my opinion.
The article says that three other children were found unharmed inside the home so it's nice to know the mother retained her discernment.

Social contagion spreading through females has been recognized since the Salem Witch Trials, was widely recognized as a rash of eating disorders plagued teenage girls in the late 80s and early 90s, followed by a smaller cutting (self harm) outbreak and leading into the trans-children affliction that started just before the Fake Pandemic, peaked a couple years ago and is almost back to the tiny percentages that are seen in the prior social contagions.
Some liken those fads to the boom in males self-identifying as “on the (Autism) spectrum” in the 90s through to today. I blame social media for amplifying and promoting social diseases like these fads.

That really bothers me. What an awful question! For me, I told my husband, explicitly, that if anything ever happened threatening injury or death to me and my son, he was absolutely to save our son, without hesitation. I thought this was normal! From the first day of my son's life, which involved a very difficult birth and medical intervention for both me and my son, it was that way, and I told my husband to follow my son out of the birthing room and Stay With Him. I didn't see my son again until about 8 hours later, but I was comforted by knowing my son was under the watchful eye of his father.
This kind of game makes me really, really angry.
Feminists must be just so damned proud!
I mean, not as angry as filicide, but still, pretty outraged.
