One can joke about 9-11 or Pearl Harbor or the Bataan death march. But in Europe if you joke about 80 year old concentration camps like Auchwitz you can go to jail. Or in the USA get ostrocized. Amazing what is forbidden or "Out of bounds" and what isn't.

Taylor Lorenz is a psychopathic liar. and a dedicated leftist-Democratic.

That mixture goes hand in hand.

RCOCEAN II said...

What the purpose of her comment other than to troll people?

Peachy said...

Taylor Lorenz should be cancelled.

please keep in mind, that Taylor Lorenz said,
In April 2025, following the killing of health insurance CEO Brian Thompson, during a CNN interview Lorenz described the lead suspect in the case Luigi Mangione as "morally good".

That is to say, that Taylor Lorenz is a Literal DEMON, that rejoices at the deaths of innocent humans..
To Repeat, Taylor Lorenz is a Literal DEMON from Hell

F Taylor Lorenz and anyone who would hire her.

…this Lorenz does seem to be a sociopath. Reminds me of what Sarah Silverman was- shocking things coming from a surprisingly off brand package. If not so well rendered I’d suspect she could be an AI creation…

Taylor Lorenz has commodified her offense posts as means to garner media attention. She aims to offend, in hopes of remaining relevant to a younger segment of audience. She's just another over-privileged Greenwich CT socialite offspring, trying to be paid shill/Influencer.

I’m guessing that the 9/11 themed parties are hosted by her bug-eyed leftie pals. I’ve never been invited to one. I’m certain that none of my boomer ass friends have either.

It was once thought that the shortest interval of time that scientists can measure is the time between the turning green of a traffic light and the sounding of a horn from a NYC cab driver.
Scientists have not found an even shorter interval- the publication of a totally unrelated blog post and an anti-Semitic comment by Mr. RCOCEAN II.
The Science is settled.

Taylor Lorenz is desperate for attention. She knows her career as a journalist (whatever that means) is well and truly kaput. She's got a plan, and it involves a transformation, a reverse metamorphosis from butterfly to slug, as it were, from clueless schlemiel to insidious asshole. Johnny Somali blazed that trail before her but made the fatal mistake of performing his assholery in Korea.

"You have to break a few eggs to break a lot of eggs."

It is unclear whether Lorenz has actually said it. But the more I read of her views, the more I'm suspect that she just might believe it.

Sally327 said...

I get her confused with Laura Loomer. Another person I hadn't ever heard of until fairly recently.

What I think and feel about 9/11 isn't based on anyone else's attitude. Keeping in mind that on the day it happened there were people in certain places openly celebrating in the streets. So not exactly a news flash that there are those now who might think it's fun to make jokes about it.

These people demonstrate on a daily basis that they are incompatible with a free society.

Her 9/11 comments were tacky and trollish.

Her actual actions working in a secret group with US government officials and the tech giants to have people censored out of the public square were pure fascism and these actions were far and away worse than any of these stupid comments.

She should be treated like a NAZI because she acted like a NAZI. These comments are just stupidity.

Isn't Lorenz Gen X too?

"...people are having 9/11 themed parties..."

I am glad to say that I have never been or been invited to a 9/11 themed party. It is obvious that our social spheres have been widely different.

I keep thinking about Brzezinski admitting in 1999 that we trained the Taliban to take over Afghanistan, in order to provoke an invasion from the neighboring Soviet Union, that we trained them in terrorism. And that we let bin Laden go at Tora Bora by an inexplicable pause in the bombing, and that bin Laden had given orders to his men specifically not to kill Joe Biden, and that Joe Biden had counseled in the war room that day, *not* to kill bin Laden, in light of the statement by Pakistan's defense minister this month, you know Pakistan, where bin Laden was hiding, that Pakistan? Yeah, well he claimed that Pakistan had been doing America's "dirty work" for decades, working with terrorists, and that this was a stain on Pakistan's honor.

And then 9-11 served as a pretext for multiple wars that we had wanted to fight already, mostly former Soviet clients like Syria, Libya and Iraq that we wanted to peel away from Russia. So there are serious lessons to learn from 9-11, that's for sure. But even if it was a terror operation by our own intelligence agencies that perhaps got out of hand, but worked out for them just fine, that takes nothing away from the heroism with which New Yorkers faced it.

Birches @8:54am, I don't know why (I can't even recall what I'm supposed to know Lorentz for, although Achilles's reminder that she was a proud member of the "shadowy cabal" may be a clue), but when she pops up she strikes me as clinging to relevancy in the same way that Avril Lavigne, she of Sk8ter Boi fame, kept singing about the passions of middle school throughout her 30s.

It's hard to age in public, but it's ridiculous to pretend you aren't.

Leland said...

I'm glad we have Lorenz around to remind us what progressives are and what they value.

Balfegor said...

McArdle pulls back a little afterwards and characterises Lorenz as just "playact[ing]" . . . no, that's just Taylor Lorenz being Taylor Lorenz. She's a singularly loathsome journalist who has stained both the New York Times and the Washington Post with her presence.

The proper 9/11 themed party would be held in an apartment near the top floor of a high rise, and would culminate with the entrance to the apartment being set ablaze with accelerants. The party’s attendees could face the same choice so many people at the twin towers did — stay put and burn or jump.

I’m sure Taylor Lorenz would find it hilarious.

West TX Intermediate Crude- well said and spot on.

It would be very interesting to know the discussions behind the order to pause the bombing at Tora Bora that let bin Laden escape. After all, if we had killed bin Laden, we could have walked away right there with a justified claim of mission accomplished.

Taylor Lorenz is a mentally ill attention whore. I wish people would ignore her, but I understand that's not the world we live in.

Make it a reality show and Pay for View and it would be a hit.

I guess that means you’re not a bad guy now, if you throw a Matthew Wayne Shepard-themed party with a cardboard split-rail fence and little fun-sized baggies of fake meth.

Maybe include a gaily-colored piñata .

I mean, that was 1998.

The same Taylor Lorenz who loses her mind about covid jokes and people not wearing masks.

Lorenz is akin to Howard Stern, a shock jock, except without the wit or any comic sense. I concur she could easily be a sociopath, having no way of gauging whether her words could be perceived of as 'edgy'. She probably thinks it's close enough for 'edgy', but for normal people, she's just a loathsome creature. Sociopath or not, she seems to be comfortable with her niche - or, rut.

Are we really sure that Taylor Lorenz isn't some "Titania McGrath"-type concoction?

JAORE said...

Taylor Lorenz is a Literal DEMON from Hell. Could that be a mis-type? As in Democrat from hell?
One thing that shows media balance is that should a well known (e.g. formerly with top tier MSM) person have made a similar statement.... hell to pay doesn't cover it. And every living soul with a (R) after their name would be called upon to support or reject that individual.

40-ish Taylor wants to be a skinny young dark-haired edgy cutesy girl, like Sarah Silverman.

Who was kinda like that. Twenty years ago*.

(*Okay, 24 years. See her Conan visit in 2001; after Sarah’s “ch*nk” backlash from the Left, she recalibrated her edginess to what the Krazy Kool Kids would clap at approvingly).

Taylor is just catching up; she’ll make it to 2011, yet.

Isn't Lorenz Gen X too?

Finding information on her age is difficult. One source named a specific date in 1984 as her birthday. And in 2020 she made Forbes’ 40 under 40 list. If both are accurate, she would be a Millennial.

On the other hand, the article you linked to indicated a birth year in 1978, making her a late Gen-X. Others have (snarkily) suggested she is over 50. Which is possible, I guess. After all, Salma Hayek is stunning at 59.

I see her as the journalist/techie equivalent of the immature middle-aged single woman partying at the same bar with 20-somethings as if she was still 25 instead of being old enough to be their mom. Hence the coyness about her age on her part, and snark about it from others.

True. Or even if it wasn't "our" intelligence agencies. I don't know about you, but at this point, I don't have any intelligence agencies. All the intelligence agencies I know about are enemy intelligence agencies. But I suppose they're somebody's friends.

You work with helping the parents of a brilliant young woman who was a passenger on the second plane into the Towers--and you see what it did to them and their family. And you won't joke about or Rachel Madcow or Taylor Lorenz snark about 9-11. Joke about it--never! The death of that young woman destroyed three other lives--as well as hers.

I'll never forgive, nor forget what jackanapes like Taylor Lorenz have done.

Remember when podcasters or radio talkers had to explain to James Brolin that "Happy 9/11!" wasn't something one said.
