Hahaha! Awesome.

Navarro clearly doesn't game. This is relaxation. Killing shit with teammates. After an hour of decompression you go back to work.

So the gamer part of the internet believes that Elon Musk has been lying about his achievements in different video games. That he has been having other people play games on his account so that he can claim to be a very highly ranked player. If the allegations are true, (it is widely believed to be true by folks who play these games), it is similar to a person who claims that they are 4 under scratch golfer but are probably a 4 over scratch golfer.

Libs love to say, “Do better.” In their minds, we need to live up to their lib lifestyle and values. Smoke pot, save the planet, world peace (except in Ukraine.)

Dave Begley said...

The Libs are super mad that Elon is no longer on their side. He’s a traitor to The Cause. They are also mad that he no longer donates to The Grift.

Yeah, Republicans say "Be best."

You’re describing what’s referred to as a vanity handicap. The left thinks Trump has always used one. Yes he does engage in golf bombast as accused but having watched him hit balls at the range a decade ago you prolly don’t want to play him for big money even at his advanced age…

Tee hee. He’s so focused, not at all distracted by the smell of Hot Pockets steaming in the microwave…

Kate gets it! I've watched a Chinese scientist absolutely kill at table tennis and go about her science.

Ugh, "do better." Anybody who uses that phrase can go piss up a rope.

This month I told the OPPD Board that fossil fuels as a percentage of world energy consumption has stayed flat at 80%. I called that failure. I should have told the Board to do better.

Mr. Navarro doesn't seem to understand how thoroughly he has just expressed his own smallness.

Craig Mc said...

Aha! Because he's good at one thing, he must be terrible at everything else! Navarro's got him now.

I'm giggling at the Ars Technica article about DOGE replacing the social security software system. Sooo many COBOL boomers saying it's impossible and that he has no idea when it's exactly those people who made it the disaster it is today.

I scanned over Navarro's twitter account and I think he was teasing Musk and poking fun at progressives.

Libs will soon be begging, “Use Butter!”, as “Last Tango in DC” plays out.

I say, “Good n’ Hard!!!”

I used to play a lot of computer games back in the days of Wolfenstein and Doom and Duke Nukem, but then I turned 30 and had a couple of kids. I think the last time I played a game was a few rounds of Angry Birds on my iPhone six or eight years ago.

"Be Best", Ann? I'm pretty sure the first time I've seen this was when you wrote it. I'm not the least surprised that he can do this, it's pretty obvious he has a photographic memory. Also, I doubt gamers are coming after him, the gamergate scolds that wanted to DEI gaming, maybe, but not real gamers. Gamers will line up to play him, everybody wants a shot at the King.

FYI, SpaceX has launches scheduled for today (Starlink), tomorrow (manned mission), and Tuesday (Starlink). For comparison, ULA (United Launch Alliance) had a total of 5 launches in all of 2024. Also, SpaceX is about 1/10th the cost per launch.

People who attempt to dunk on Musk only make fools of themselves.

YouTube: Nobody seems to believe Musk

But then again, the people that believe him are not making videos off of him singing his praises or whatever. I don't believe there's hardly any money in that.

You have to go to the next Althouse post to get this.

Elon's reply was nice:
"You’re right. I should be #1.
I got overconfident with Kekius_Maximus and he died."

Lem Vibe Banditory said...

BTW. IF Musk is on the spectrum, (and I don't know if he is) having "atypical sense of humor" and "telling the truth, even when they shouldn't" are a couple of the known signs.

Lem Vibe Banditory said...

Saying things that are true, from the vantage point of "the world's richest man", can be considered impolite, at the mild end, and uncaring, cold hearted at the ofensive end. Add to that a less than smooth speech pattern and you have a recipe for suspicion and mistrust.

Having never played a computer game of any sort, and not knowing much of the social context and subculture in which this is playing out, it took me a good while--and reading the comments--to figure out what this is about.

I don't have an opinion, though.

I said 👆🏽 "I don't believe there's hardly any money in that." (singing peoples praises)

There is money, however, in making videos of people acting the fool.

Do people believe Musk a fool just because the way he speaks, the way he sounds?
Maybe if he sounded like a male superstar. I was thinking Meryl Streep but she's a woman. Or she identifies as a woman.

You assign to Musk a list of tasks at SpaceX, yet he is working 80 hour weeks with Doge and has time for videogaming at the highest level globally (claimed).

Beyond which, hasn't Musk been quite clear that the only peope really working at his businesses (or in Government) are the ones in the office?

Don't you think the people actually working at SpaceX are the ones achieving these great things, instead of a titular CEO who hasn't spent a week in the office since early Fall?

From Pong to Grand Theft Auto, I have been unable to care about a videogame screen. Ever

@Mark: "Don't you think the people actually working at SpaceX are the ones achieving these great things, instead of a titular CEO who hasn't spent a week in the office since early Fall? "

Don't you see how this just comes off as sour grapes? If you don't, then how about this: Name one worker on the assembly line, or one design engineer, of the Ford Model T. Or is Henry Ford the one that comes to mind?

The leader and driving force behind Musk's industry is Musk. Of course there are supremely competent people realizing the efforts: The cars, the trucks, the communications satellites, the rockets, the social media. None of it would happen, without them. But none of it would happen, without the leadership.

If you're in any doubt that it's Musk leading them, then please, by all means: State why, with examples and proof. Because there really is no reason for anybody to buy into conjecture from anonymous people, that are finding fault because of their political alignment.

Tom only knows what is possible for him. He doesn't know what's possible for Musk. Musk isn't perfect, but he constantly surprises me with what he's able to pull off. (And motivating people to get the best out of them is also a skill.)

I don't know if you noticed, but they stopped including the microwave crisping sleeve with the Hot Pockets. Now you can't get a good one out of the microwave anymore.

Clearly you don’t understand that the Japanese Salaryman era of excellence is over. Look at the other space companies, they are mediocre. Elon builds “lean mean fighting machines.” He does not build corporations. Elon keeps the culture on track and sets the vibe. That’s how to win for now.

The future is, AI replaces labor and professions and a few highly talented engineers will keep the AI on track, updated, and keep it from screwing up.

The Chinese government has a good way of maintaining success culture in companies, if you are not successful, they will kill you and your family.

I honestly don’t recall ever eating one. It’s just a frozen pastry so may I suggest turning on the oven to 350 F, zap the HP in the microwave for 1 min 30 then pop it in the oven for 3-5 to crisp the outside?

Elon was streaming Paths of Exile and didn't understand the game even though he supposedly had hundreds of hours playing it. No one who games believes him. Modern games come with a time commitment, even for top level players.

Here's how Marc Andreessen describes Musk's role in his companies: {quoting…}

MARC ANDREESSEN: ELON SOLVES PROBLEMS FASTER THAN OTHER COMPANIES ORGANIZE MEETINGS

“Elon has developed an operating method that is very unusual by modern standards.

The top line thing is this incredible devotion from the leader of the company to fully, deeply understand what the company does, to be completely knowledgeable about every aspect of it, and to be in the trenches and talking directly to the people who do the work, deeply understanding the issues and being the lead problem-solver in the organization.

Basically, Elon shows up every week at each of his companies.

He identifies the biggest problem that the company's having that week, and he fixes it.

He does that every week for 52 weeks in a row, so each of his companies has solved the 52 biggest problems in that year.

Most other large companies are still having the planning meeting for the pre-planning meeting for the board meeting, for the presentation, with the compliance review and the legal review.

So it's this level of both an incredible intellectual capability coupled with an incredible force of personality, a moral authority, an execution capability, a focus on fundamentals that is just really amazing to watch.”

I know I'm late to this but I just want to say I knew a guy going to a good law school who was top fifteen in some massive multiplayer game on the side. Hardly anyone knew irl. So I never really questioned that it was impossible for Elon.
