"Fate has presented Ms. Harris the rarest of political opportunities: to start a presidential campaign in the summer of an election year as a fresh, all-but-anointed candidate free to present her vision to all voters, not just to her own party."

From "What Harris needs to do, now, to win" by The Editorial Board of The Washington Post.

"Fate." You can call it fate, but I think human beings connived on a grand scale, out of our view. It's like calling a sleight of hand performance "magic." Even worse, really, though, because at a "magic" show, you have a chance to look closely and figure out how it's done. If it were off stage, it wouldn't be anything at all.

But enough of this distraction with the word "fate." Let's look at that rare opportunity that has arrived for Ms. Harris. She is "free to present her vision to all voters, not just to her own party." She didn't have to go through the phase of winning with primary voters, then readjusting to appeal to "all voters"... and by "all voters," what is meant is a majority of the voters in the swing states. She can invent the version of herself that suits a precise sliver of Americans — the waverers of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. (I'm in this sliver myself, by odd chance... fate.)

The Editors recommend:
A clean break from Bidenism would be a mistake.... Amid much activist mockery... Mr. Biden built a coalition of liberals, voters of color, moderates and ex-Republicans. In the White House, Mr. Biden’s approach helped get substantial bipartisan bills over the finish line.... Ms. Harris should both resist activist demands that would push her to the left and ignore the social media micro-rebellion that will follow....
Majorities disapprove of the Biden administration’s handling of several issues that voters care about most, including inflation and immigration. Ms. Harris might look at those numbers, and the complexity of the issues, and be tempted to ride a glide path to the nomination, taking few risks between now and when delegates vote in August. She should do the opposite....
The goal is to emerge from vice-presidential muddiness to presidential sharpness....

The only problem with this is that Harris is part of the Biden Administration and a particularly inept part of an inept operation. For Harris, there really can be no fresh start- only a candidate who hasn't been part of the Biden Administration could hope to accomplish this.

This is why I expect her to be dumped at the convention unless she gets the delegate vote done virtually before the end of this month.

Emphasis on invent. Who cares about reality and actual policy? But as we know, the waverers can make up any reason for any decision, so Harris' inventions don't much matter in the end. The election will be about Trump and abortion. Advantage: Dems.

Harris wasn't off on Mars during the last 4 years. She was border Czar and supporting Biden's policies every step of the way. It was the Biden Harris administration.

Harris, if its even possible, is even more a warhawk and leftist than Biden was. Name any unpopular Biden policy and Harris would push it even harder. Of course, it doesn't really matter whether its Biden or Harris, the same people REALLY running the Presidency will stay the same.

I read Biden hasn't had a cabinet meeting since November 2023. And there's no evidence he's involved in anything. Harris would be no different. who is her chief-of-staff? Name him, and we'll know who the real President will be.

There is no way they actually go through with this.

Kamala seized power through an obvious politburo coup.

I predicted this was the destination. I just didn't realize it would be handled so ineptly.

The only thing that makes sense right now is that the people who run the democrat party want the party to fracture. I am still waiting for the Obama shoe to drop. Has he endorsed Kamala yet?

Can anyone tell us what Obama has said recently?

Yes, she can attempt to do this for a few months, until she wins, and then reverts back to the policies of the Democratic Party.

A fresh face!

And they did it with an old fashioned coup!

There aren't even any train tracks under this train. They just picked up the train and put it 5 miles in the air and dropped it. To call what happens over the next month a train wreck is inappropriately descriptive.

She isn't a perfect candidate judging by her 2020 campaign. The prospect of a divided and chaotic convention would also be necessary for a non-Harris candidate to emerge. That would not be helpful.

So Democrats are taking the least risky, most qualified, and second-in-line candidate which is logical. She has won the nomination but still has a ways to go to win the election, but she will have the unified support of her party and plenty of money.

In what form? Lets break down the current democrat party down into their requisite constituencies and tell me how this turns out. They have 4 main groups:

1. The Marxists. AOC/Bernie as figurehead. This is the largest and most energized/motivated group.

2. The Harem Girls and Karens. Former Director Cheatle is a member. For that matter so is Kamala.

3. The Racial Spoils coalition. Clyburne and Jackson gonna get theirs.

4. The Insider Trading and Warmongers club.

Kamala stands for group 2.

None of their VP options bring in the other 3. And much of group 4 has made it clear that Kamala is a no go. Obama is the only person that can keep this together and he sees that even if they are united it will be a historic blowout.

Having started many businesses I will tell you that personality differences can be papered over while things are going well. When the money runs out you find out who people really are.

The marxists in particular carry this coalition with energy and numbers, but they have been given the back of the hand. Pressley and Bowman were both primaried by group 4. Group 4 even took a shot at AOC. They think group 4 is the joooooos.

They will fall into line because they believe each of the other 3 groups will still be better off with the one group that has the lead than they would if they break away.

In 2020 the Bernie Bros fell into line, and still all the Karens will have no problem voting for whichever group is ascendent, and so will the racialists, marxists and the deep state. I see no safe harbor for them but the Democrat party. And then there is sexual identity/abortion issue that will vote lock-step.

I think Achilles's analysis points to RFK jr. as a real possibility, which I didn't see before.

This almost certainly requires RFK to be a CIA plant and amoral fedmuffin which I do not discount.

The RFK neighbor node on the decision tree map has 2 nearest neighbors:

1. RFK accepts the Democrat nomination and enters a tenuous relationship with the people that killed his uncles.

2. RFK remains independent and almost certainly has a place in the Trump administration with respect to public health.

If RFK chose vertex number 1 this opens up a different world with different possibilities from node 2.

If RFK chooses option 1 that says a lot about how he values power vs. his desire to make the world better. If RFK goes to vertex 1 the nearest neighbors are a list of results from the negotiation between RFK and the Deep State that likes to kill his family when it gets uppity.

That is a dark tree in my opinion. Entirely possible but dark. RFK seems like a good guy. Would that level of power be attractive enough for him to enter that deal? Who has hand in that situation? Is he a puppet?

The next nearest neighbors for RFK taking that role:

1. RFK is a CIA plant and this was the plan all along. He bangs some interns while the Deep State does it's business.

2. RFK is a hostage and the Deep State does it's business.

3. RFK is a good guy and he and the Deep State are in a constant struggle until inevitable termination of the relationship.

We will see if Kamala manages to survive until the convention or get nominated at the convention. There is more than one conspiracy in play at the moment, and nothing has been decided. Kamala very much feels like a sabotage attempt by the Bidens, not someone any of the conspirators that pushed Biden out would have wanted.

Do remember that Kamala is a terrible politician. The only reason she ever reached higher office was because she was the mistress of a powerful and competent politician, and the only reason she is VP is because she was an overt DEI pick that made Biden look good in comparison. She has spent her entire stint as VP failing repeatedly such that even the Biden cabal find her useless.

The battle now is between the Clintons, Obama and his cronies, the Biden collective, and the major donors to who gets the nod. Oh, they all support Kamala publicly, but the knives are out.

But enough of this distraction with the word "fate." Let's look at that rare opportunity that has arrived for Ms. Harris. She is "free to present her vision to all voters, not just to her own party."

And her vision is a Marxist "Year Zero" "What can be, unburdened by what has been" approach to the world, much like the one pushed by the Khmer Rouge.

Happily, the US has the Second Amendment, which means they won't be able to kill 1/3 of America with their desires. But they probably would be able to get the total death tool over a million people, most of them on their side.

The Editors recommend:
Mr. Biden’s approach helped get substantial bipartisan bills over the finish line

Really? Do tell! Could someone please name two of those "substantial bipartisan bills"?

Harris posted the video of the event to youtube. I noted the lack of any views of the crowd just video of the speakers. Why are there no views of the adoring, roaring crowds? Wouldn't that be a great message to be posting to the world? Now, I may be cynical here, but a lack of crowd shots suggest less enthusiasm than you are projecting.

Like many who post here, I think of Kamala as an albatross for the Dems and the nation.
Let me now defend her from the repeated attacks along the lines that her badness is in some way instantiated by her sexual past. This is a dumb argument. All you are doing is pointing out that she is,or at least was,an attractive heterosexual.

There are lots of bad women politicians in California who succeed without good looks. The key for them is often identity politics. That has been Kamala's path too.

If you've had the good fortune to enjoy happy sexual relationships, it's hypocritical to attack someone who seems to be guilty of nothing more than what you have done. Thank God for the women who we're willing to take a chance on me.

My gratitude will never die. P

Inga doesn't even know what the words she typed even mean.

It is obvious she doesn't know what the factions of the democrat party are.

So to get back to the adult table and interesting conversation:

Whether or not the donors would go for RFK would depend on their perception of their ability to
1. control him
2. get things from him

Slightly different things. Hard to tell but I don't think he appears too controllable.

So at that point they are aiming for a return on investment and the opportunity cost is what happens to them if Trump is elected instead. He is a climate cultist so they will probably get some green new deal subsidy. Other than than the medical industry would be in for a rough time either way and I don't think the Warmongers are too keen on their prospects either way.

I personally don't think RFK is a highly likely option.

I think you are looking at some combination of Moore + cooper/beshear. Shapiro isn't really an option because the palestinian marxists wont allow it.

"The New York Times Rates 10 Democrats’ Chances of Beating Trump — And Puts Kamala Harris Dead Last

A collection of New York Times journalists believes that Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is the least electable candidate Democrats could put up against Donald Trump this fall.

After President Joe Biden announced that he would not seek a second term in the White House on Sunday, the Times enlisted eight writers and columnists to grade ten potential candidates on both how electable and how exciting they would be.

And although she finished fifth in the latter category, she finished dead last in the former — and more important — one.

On a 10-point scale, Harris was rated a 4.6, and was one of only two candidates to have the average of their electability scores fall below 5 (California Governor Gavin Newsom was the other, at 4.9).

“She has no demonstrated appeal to swing voters, and she cannot run away from the Biden-Harris record on inflation and immigration,” wrote Josh Barro."

In 1994 Kamala Harris was 29, in her first job as a prosecutor in the Alameda County DA's Office, and had a taste for the finer things in life. Willie Brown was 60, married, and the second most senior politician in California.

Harris became Brown's mistress. This is well-known and not just inside CA. Willie Brown not only has never denied it, but he has been caught on record inadvertently patting himself on the back to other black men for getting 'hisself a piece'. In return Brown appointed Harris to the California Medical Assistance Commission as a part-time attorney at a salary of $72,000 per year, followed by another part-time appointment to the state's Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board at an additional salary of $97,088 a year. Then he helped her become DA in San Francisco.

‘Harris and Trump are statistically tied

In a head-to-head matchup, Trump gets 46%, while Harris is at 45%, with 9% undecided. In Marist’s survey earlier this month, just 2% were undecided between Trump and Biden. The poll of 1,309 adults was conducted Monday via online research panels. It has a +/- 3.2 percentage point margin of error, meaning results could be roughly 3 points higher or lower.
In a five-way contest, Trump and Harris each get 42%, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pulls in 7%, the lowest since Marist has been testing him since April, and independent Cornel West and the Green Party’s Jill Stein get just 1%.

Notably, Harris holds onto Gen Z/Millennial voters and nonwhite voters more so than Biden was able to when the contest moves from a head-to-head with Trump to one with third-party choices. Earlier this month, Biden declined 13 points with those younger voters and 10 points with nonwhite voters. Harris, on the other hand, largely retains her support with those groups.

A plurality said the decision puts Democrats in a better position to win
By a 41%-24% margin, Americans said Biden’s decision increases Democrats’ chances this fall. A third said it makes no difference.”

NPR

My prediction is that by next week Harris will be ahead of Trump by significantly.

Fact-Checking the False Claims About Kamala Harris

John said...

Even if Harris's poll bounce is minimal or non-existent, I don't see how the Democrats are going to be able to pull off two substitute candidates in one election cycle. The lowest of low information voters will be catching on that there must be chaos in the Party if they do that. Plus, unless they get Michelle, the black voters are going to go home and sulk. And if they try to do the substitution at the convention, the riots outside will be legion, because some group is going to get cut out in that deal, and the everyday Chicago rioters won't be able to hold back once the fun begins. So I don't see them doing this again until at least 2028.

Thank you for linking that Inga. Now the adults and people with an IQ above 90 can take a look around.

Everyone can already guess what is going on here but I will give you the TLDR.

"This one-day survey of 1,309 adults was conducted July 22nd, 2024.

...

"There are 1,117 registered voters.

...

"There are 846 registered voters who definitely plan to vote in November’s general election.

...

There are 515 Democrats and Democratic leaning independents."

So the sample was either 46% democrats, or they included unregistered voters which would still be 39.3% which is still a grotesque over sample of Democrats.

With a 46% democrat sample Trump is at 46% and Harris is at 45%.

Now just say that out loud. A poll with 46% democrats in the sample shows Harris at 45% against Trump.

Moore/Beshear 2024 campaign ads are being worked up right now.

The problem, Inga, is that a statistical tie will lead to an overwhelming electoral win for Trump, or did you not pay any attention at all to the results of the last two elections? A statistical tie right now is Trump performing almost 10 points better than he did at the exact same point in 2020. Even worse, the poll you cite way oversampled Democrats versus Republicans. In short, that poll is an outlier in both result and method. Almost certainly one paid for by the Democrat Party but run under Reuters. But, sure run with that one- it will all turn to shit for you anyway with a short half-life.
