Dear Dan Rather: Are you trying to allude to a Beatles title?

I don't really want to read what Dan Rather — or "Dan Rather and Team Steady" — has to say about the Supreme Court. (Sample text: "More Republican-led state houses should take note of a plethora of unintended consequences that have come from the reversal of Roe.")

I just want to talk about the headline — over at Steady — "Dear SCOTUS, Look What You Have Done/The unintended consequences that could affect the election."

Pardon me for fussing over a headline when the country is collapsing into chaos.

I'd never heard of Steady. I see that Steady is "Dan Rather's steady take on a complex and chaotic world." Well, if you have some new enterprise dedicated to steadiness —  then connect to cultural foundations. Understand your allusions.

"Dear SCOTUS, Look What You Have Done" seems to reference 2 songs from the White Album — "Dear Prudence" and "Sexy Sadie" ("Sexy Sadie, what have you done?/You made a fool of everyone"). I would tweak the headline to either "Dear SCOTUS, Open Up Your Eyes" or "Sexy SCOTUS, What Have You Done?"

I know. There so many things I could have blogged about before this. A plethora.

ADDED: Helping me proofread, Meade read this post aloud, and halfway through, he was singing a song from The White Album and it wasn't "Dear Prudence" or "Sexy Sadie." It was "Martha My Dear": "Hold your head up, you silly girl/See what you've done/When you find yourself in the thick of it/Help yourself to a bit of what is all around you...."

ALSO: Dan Rather is 92. A 92-year-old man is offering to steady us. The arrogance of the old these days is truly stunning. But who knows the extent to which "Dan Rather" is merely a figurehead? The trouble with a gerontocracy is that we are governed by faceless, unknowable personages. I'm not reassured that they call themselves Team Steady, but I would enjoy it, painfully, if the people behind Joe Biden had a similarly snappy name, something like — help me out here — Team Unify?

There's also a Beatles' song titled "What You're Doing" that opens with the line "Look what you're doing."

My thoughts went to "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma," by Melanie.

Look what they done to my song, ma
Look what they done to my song
Well, it's the only thing that I could do half right
And it's turning out all wrong, ma
Look what they done to my song

Look what they done to my brain, ma
Look what they done to my brain
Well, they picked it like a chicken bone
And I think I'm half insane, ma

Look what they done to my song
I wish I could find a good book to live in
Wish I could find a good book
Well, if I could find a real good book
I'd never have to come out and look at
What they done to my song

Look what they done to my song
But maybe it'll all be alright, ma
Maybe it'll all be okay
Well, if the people are buying tears
I'll be rich someday, ma
Look what they done to my song

He should always be styled "Dan FBA Rather" .

FBA fo fake but accurate.

We should not revile but revere him. He is one of the people who pulled back the curtain revealing the utter bankruptcy of the news media.

We need to remember that the news has been playing us fast and loose with fake news (as cnn label it) for hundreds of year.

The spirit of Dan rather was baked into the first broadsheets of the 1600s

"Unintended consequences?"

Are we supposed to pretend that the Democrat hadn't planned and aren't responsible for the consequences? They only have three things going for them: Hatred of Trump, abortion and election fraud. They also have a compliant media that gives short shrift to their incompetence and ill will.

Unfortunately, that's probably enough.

The reason the country is collapsing into chaos is because of arrogant liberals like Dan Rather. But, the liberal demographic is like Country Music Radio...it spans all ages. It just seems to be worse when they dig in to cover their corruption (Pelosi, Biden), or salvage a disappearing legacy (Dan Rather).

I do appreciate the recognition of "the arrogance of the old." This is especially true when it comes to their inability to absorb the troubling economic reality facing Generation Z.

Dan Rather is an amoral man who was born attractive and could read words on a screen which is little different than hereditary title.

He didn’t produce anything of value in his life but he was given status and wealth by virtue of his service and propagandizing for the regime.

The problem he has right now is the same that all of the regime toadies have. Trump and Trump supporters are going to bring back a merit based system where well heeled Columbia and Harvard and Yale grads have to compete on a level playing field with those awful deplorables.

There is Taylor's "Look what you made me do", which seems to be what Rather is threatening, but the problem is he's already done so much. Rather is and will forever be a poster child for media disinformation.

Please don't apologize for posts about some topics and not posting about other topics. It's YOUR blog, it's unique in that sense, and, at least for me, it's the reason I read your stuff each and every day.
Some topics you post on, they bore me. I might not even open up the continuation, the link or, God forbid, read the comments (Which are the best part -- not because your posts aren't interesting- they are, mightily as one might say. But at least half of the time, you throw a topic out there with maybe a one or two sentence take on it, and then conversation ensues. I get to see many different POVs and occasionally, you will sneak in (I am taking liberty with my description of you making an appearance in the comments section) and clarify, defend, refute, or caution to a certain end.
To "apologize" for a certain topic when there are more "weighty" topics out there to discuss is perhaps similar to those who say, "How can you be worried about (a locally-based topic of concern that a friend on Facebook posted about - say, reducing a perfectly fine six-lane highway to a four-lane highway for the purpose of creating bike lands THAT ARE NEVER USED - sorry, pissed off about that in my town) THAT, when 12,000 children have been slaughtered in Gaza by the JOOOOS?!?"
Guess what, oh keeper of the topics on Facebook and in other's minds: you don't get to decide what's important to me and others. You may comment on my topic, but you may NOT comment on the topic I selected because you give it little importance in your beehive of a mind.
So, Ann, may I urge you to post about whatever the Hell topic you choose and those who think the topic is trivial and that YOU should be posting about Trump, or Biden, or Ukraine, or gender affirming/mutilating care -- well, may I suggest that you tell them in that case, just. Scroll. On. By. or go to another blog you think you can control
Last point by me in this overly-long comment of mine: some of your topics are of interest to me because I never heard of them or considered them to worth my time investigating. I enjoy reading your blog and offer you thanks for your sometimes unheralded service to us, the readers.

Beginning with the fifth word of the article: "...this radical-right packed Supreme Court has an obsession..." So - jumping right in with inflammatory prose and unsubstantiated assertions, are we?

Let's skip to the graphics. Much red "Maternity care deserts" in Texas. I am familiar with the pointy end.
Zapata County: Pop 13.5/SqMi; no hospital
Jim Hogg: 4.6/SqMi; no hospital
Brooks: 7.6/SqMi; no hospital
Kenedy: 0.3/SqMi; no hospital
Willacy: 28.1/SqMi; no hospital
Duval: 6.5/SqMi; no hospital
LaSalle: 4.7/SqMi; no hospital
McMullen: 0.6/SqMi; no hospital
Live Oak: 10.9/SqMi; no hospital
San Patricio: 92.5/SqMi/ no hospital

LaSalle and Willacy have a high population density (relative to others listed) but yet are rural, small in area, and neighbor a larger and more populated county with one or more hospitals. Been that way for decades, so no consequence of Roe reversal. Methinks Mr. Rather is just slinging BS here (and, yes, there is literally plenty of bull shit in most of those counties listed).

Just running errands and listening to NPR. They're almost hysterical - bloviating about the Supreme Court's apparent disinterest in interfering with Donald Trump's immunity, and the prospect of the courtroom dramas now slipping past the election. It's really something to hear, 3 legal experts using something bordering on playground language to express their dismay with both the court and individual justices - actually re-assessing the election prospects in light of Donald Trump not being a convicted felon, as if they had already baked it in, and dined - and following up with an unrelated story that touches on how bad the court is. You can almost hear the spittle landing on the microphone. Can't wait to hear what it's all about.

Rather, like many on the left, has no idea as to the breadth and depth of knowledge we commoners have. It took one man with a typewriter fetish to glance at Rather's prize memo one time to think 'That was not done on an Army typewriter of the time.' and not just explain but demonstrate how so. Wiki: Charles Foster Johnson 's animated GIF image comparing a memo purportedly typewritten in 1973 with a proportional-spaced document made in Microsoft Word with default settings in 2004.

That pulled the loose thread on their sweater.

Team Steady is led by an esteemed toady. Dan Rather is the most busted name in news. I think it's counterproductive for the Biden people to enlist his services...I remember when Siegfried Sassoon wanted to enlist Robert Graves' efforts in his petition to end WWI. Robert Graves said that it would probably be better if someone named Siegfried didn't lead the anti-war efforts.....Any appearance by Rather is a subliminal though not subtle reminder of how biased the news people are.

Wiki: Charles Foster Johnson 's animated GIF image comparing a memo purportedly typewritten in 1973 with a proportional-spaced document made in Microsoft Word with default settings in 2004.

I saw that GIF on "Free Republic" the very same evening he released it. In five seconds it was obvious that the whole thing was a crude and blatant forgery. What a glorious time to be alive, and know beyond all doubt that the leftist propaganda peddlers of the news media had been caught red-handed in a gigantic filthy lie for partisan political gain. That day is when their downward spiral began, and boy did they work hard to earn it.

There was additional corroboration of the memos' falsity by multiple lines of inquiry later. Most devastating was an analysis of the jargon showing it was written by an Army man rather than the Air Force officer who was its purported author. Plainly it was manufactured by Army Lt. Col. Bill Burkett, an angry leftist piece of shit willing to commit forgery and perjury to undermine the re-election of his Commander in Chief.

On a side note, the story of Charles Johnson is a sad one. He somehow lurched into the far fringes of the Left a few years after exposing the Dan Rather hoax. His "Little Green Footballs" blog, which had previously been the venue for much lively and freewheeling debate, instead became known for the kind of uncompromising conformist left-wing censorship that later characterized Facebook and the old Twitter. I quit going there when basically every comment I posted would be removed and I was warned I was close to a perma-ban. Haven't seen the site for fifteen years. I wonder if my old password still works.
