Ludicrous Washington Post headline uses the word "intruder" to characterize Trump — and Trump is intruding on Biden.

"Biden, trying to tout his policies, faces a familiar intruder: Trump."

Yeah, stop thinking about the shocking literal intrusion on Trump that was the raid on Mar-a-Lago. Think about how Trump, by getting attention, figuratively intrudes on Biden.

The headline sits atop a column by Matt Viser. Subheadline: "For much of his presidency, Biden has had to compete for attention with the 'former guy,' who left office a year-and-a half-ago but has never really left the public consciousness."

How can we stop thinking about Trump when his antagonists are doing such conspicuous things to him?

It's a new column. It went up at 5 this morning, after the Mar-a-Lago raid. Quite aside from that, the January 6th hearings are highly public political theater demanding that we focus on Trump and not look away. It's ridiculous to blame Trump as an "intruder"!

Let's read the column:
President Biden stood outside the White House on Tuesday, celebrating what was arguably the best stretch of his presidency. He smiled. He basked, aviators firmly in place, in the sun...

“Decades from now, people are going to look back at this week — with all we passed, and all we moved on — [and say] that we met the moment at this inflection point in history,” Biden said....

Cable news channels covered his remarks, but then quickly returned to the topic they had been covering before the brief Biden interlude: Donald Trump....

President Barack Obama did not have to worry about being upstaged by news about George W. Bush.... George W. Bush did not have to worry about Bill Clinton. Trump himself did not have to worry about Obama....

But it’s becoming a striking feature of the Biden presidency that the former president is regularly intruding to steal the public spotlight, less because of his current actions than the aftershocks of his presidency....

If it's not his "current actions," then he's not "intruding." The Democrats, the party in power, are intruding on Trump. They can't turn around complain that he's intruding on them!

Oh, but they do! Because Trump was such a malefactor, they have to spend their time looking backward, investigating, searching, reviling. And because he didn't get his second term, they've got to look forward to the next election and do what they can to defeat him before he builds an unstoppable momentum. That's all so intrusive of him.

Biden promised voters he would seek to not grab their attention the way Trump did, but he may not have imagined that Trump would continue to seize that attention....

I don't remember that promise, and I don't think that insult to our imagination is warranted. I certainly thought Trump, out of office, would make even more noise. He wouldn't have to do the actual work of being President, and he'd be liberated to speak freely.

“We hear that noise out there. We know there are those who focus more on seeking power than securing the future ... those who seek division instead of strength in unity, who tear down rather than build up,” Biden said. “Today is a day for builders. Today, America is delivering.”

After signing measures to authorize Sweden and Finland joining NATO — another landmark for his presidency — Biden ignored questions shouted from stage right about the FBI search of Trump’s home....

Yeah! I want answers! This WaPo columnist is painting Biden as noble for declining to attend to the "noise out there." As if the rude lout Trump were heckling his speech.

The columnist (Viser) acknowledges that Trump "is not the one setting the agenda or driving the coverage." That's why he's not the "intruder." But "Biden continues with his earnest attempts at enacting and touting policy achievements," and we're invited to feel for him, as these achievements are "overtaken in the news by the sugar high of Trump drama."

But the added sugar is coming from inside the Democratic Party.

During a White House press briefing that stretched nearly an hour... on Tuesday... Trump and the raid of his home dominated reporters’ questions, despite [press secretary Karine] Jean-Pierre’s effort to make it clear that the White House had little to say on the latest Trump turn. “The president was not briefed, was not aware of it,” she said. “No one from the White House was given a heads-up.”

There were many questions, and instead of giving us any way to process the shocking news, to see the sense of it,  Jean-Pierre stonewalled it:

“I’m just not going to comment on any reaction to what happened,” Jean-Pierre said. Several times she read prior comments from Biden saying that his Department of Justice would operate independently and without political interference.

Does it hurt your feelings? After the Russia hoax, after the attacks on many Trump associates, after the way they treated Hill and Hunter, after the J6 persecutions, it shocks you that DoJ/FBI would go after Trump directly?

How many more shocking things do they have to do for you and women like you to change your mind about American politics and vote consistently to prevent any recurrence?

The only question is when and how.

What until this writer discovers what Trump had to put up with for ALL of his presidency. Excuse me, but I have zero sympathy for Biden. It's not Trump doing the "intruding". If you notice, every single political story (and most others) written by both WaPo and NYT has some critical mention of Trump. It is apparently now a requirement. Every comment by any politician has to contain a mention of Trump. Trump lives in their head and consumes their dreams (nightmares?).

Obama and Hillary set the Russian Collusion Hoax in motion, and weaponized the FBI to go after Trump. Obama was the puppet master who blessed it all while still in office.

He also had EVERY former living President lined up against him. Trump was and is a threat to all their dirty dealings. The outsider had to be removed.

In the minds of the media, Trump has no place in the business of "governing", the fact that he was elected notwithstanding. A place in government is reserved for those with the proper pedigree. Trump's been an intruder from the start.

They need weekly Saint John McCain Church ceremonies to pray for wiping Trump from memory.

Now Dark Brandon is pretending the White House didn't know about this raid.

He is throwing Garland to the wolves.

And the economy continues to completely implode. Every single metric the economy is measured by is exploding. Productivity is down. Prices are up. Money Supply is up. Money Velocity is down. Work Force participation is down.

The only people who will admit to being democrats after all of this are really stupid people.

Everyone else would be too embarrassed.

Several times she read prior comments from Biden saying that his Department of Justice would operate independently and without political interference.

The White House helped the Parent-Teachers Association draft a letter demanding that the US Department of Justice harass "terrorist" parents who made critical comments at school-board meetings.

Then the White House sent that letter to the DOJ, where Attorney General Garland reflexively implemented the letter's demands, exactly as drafted by the White House.

When the US President is a Democrat, it's ludicrous to think that the US Justice Department ever operates "independently and without political interference".

Seeing how for example the democrats blame Trump for the Afghanistan evacuation disaster while at the same time praising Biden for the US leaving Afghanistan they need Trump to take attention away from the disaster which is Biden.
It is if the USA has a 'Janus' presidency, Biden to love and Trump to hate. And since Biden is, to repeat, such a disaster of course he looses the competition for attention.

This would be quite amusing, I'm not an American, if the consequences weren't so tragic.

'Obtuse' is the word that comes to mind when I read or hear people who masquerade as 'Journalists!', barely hiding their almost parishoner-like devotion to one political party. Ignore that big fat fact on the wall over there, and just recite your novena.

I almost don't know what to say because you covered it pretty thoroughly already. But...there's this:

The massive spending, taxing, and harassment bill that the Democrats just passed was not, by any objective view, a bill for the people, of the people, by the people. It passed on a tie breaker by the Veep. And only after months of haggling with it's own party members. It's a huge boondoggle that was passed by one party. Alone. Which means at least half the country, if not more, is feeling screwed right about now. That's considered a Great Week for Biden by the geniuses in the media.

Labor and economic numbers were still sucky. Very much so. Just not as sucky as the previous week. Another Great Week moment for Joe "we're not as sucky this week" Biden.

If that's what a great week looks like (not to mention that he's a pushed button away from a World War with China.), I'd say we're back in Obama-type standards where we declare that things being bad is the new normal. Let's celebrate the new normal!

And speaking of Barack, the reason Barack and George W. did not create a large presence after leaving office is because of a few things, not the least of which is that they both had their two terms and both were fully burnt out. The fact is that Obama bought a gated property in Kalorama, and has Valerie Jarrett working out of there along with others from his administration. He also still has Samantha Power and Susan Rice and Ron Klain and others in key positions to keep his rare form of politics alive and causing problems. (My instinct sees his team's hand in the raid). Trump, on the other hand, was in line to sweep into a second term before the Democratic Party paid for national riot summer of 2020 layered on top of the Covid attack (paid for by our own NIH). And even with that, Trump feels like the election was a screw job. I can't say he's wrong. We'll never know. But while President, he was on a role. And because he got cut short, he's still planning for more. And our national Democratic Media Party cannot leave it alone, complaining about it all the way.

As for KJP telling us all that the President knew nothing of the raid on Trump's life, I'd say that's about the same level of knowing nothing as his business arrangements with Hunter and Partners in Ukraine and China. He wink, wink knows nothing. There is no way in hell that the private property and home of a former President, who is planning to run against you, is raided pre-dawn by the FBI without the White House's OK. It's preposterous to think otherwise.

I love how Christopher Wray had to run out of the Congressional hearing to 'go on vacation' just hours before the raid.

We are led by scum.

It does seem as though this leftist Stasi-modified limited hangout fallback talking point is the quickest reaction on the part of the democraticals who are the first to recognize fully just how much of a stupid and completely unforced blunder this has become.

I mean, Left Bank offers us this example which is another lie in defense of all the other serial non-stop lies, and pathetic lies at that, but at least it shows the democratical single-cell creatures at the FBI and elsewhere are at least capable of feeling when they are poked at and move to avoid the uncomfortable pain.

Left Bank: "....but it’s increasing clear that there is no there there."

The Walls Are Not Closing In Quite So Much Here.

But that's where I disagree.

The idiots who paid millions of $ to come up "Ultra MAGA" as an insult, (insult!!!!) and Dark Brandon as a supposed good thing (good thing!!!!) are the same geniuses who gave us this gestapo-raid on MAL.

And trust me, these idiots, these "elites" who believe they are infallible and morally justified in doing whatever it takes to preserve their status, are absolutely going to take this to the final level: a manufactured indictment against Trump before a pure dem Grand Jury, drag Trump before a Dem/DC "jury" of Hillary/Obama DNC types, "overseen" by an Obama judge, and then the inevitable "conviction" that will preclude any 2024 run but will be overturned on appeal........but only AFTER 2024. Roberts will see to that.

What comes after that remains to be seen...but what comes after that ain't gonna be another Romney.......

Well, that's an interesting take. Does "the government" often "show up" in a former quasi-government-official's closet and rifle through her clothes in the process of "collecting government documents"?

Just go ahead and own the search warrant, LBotC. It exists, it may or may not have been properly executed but it was certainly executed, and the fact that it was required in order to "show up" and "collect" things means that this event, however innocuous or nefarious it was, was definitely not as you have characterized it.

It's uniquely American and ironic that soon after the approval of citizens united the most powerful voices in the political arena are absolutely free. The trick is you just have to know how to manipulate that space to amplify your voice so that it reaches your targets heart.

If today is a day for builders, seems like it's Trumps day.

I'm almost willing to believe the first sentence, at least in the sense of "There was no formally scheduled briefing of the president by the DOJ regarding the specific details," but does anyone seriously believe that no one from the White House was given a heads-up about searching and removing materials from the home of a former president?

Come to think of it, if it's true that the DOJ went ahead with this sort of search and seizure without giving a "heads-up" to anyone in the White House, what does that say about the practical authority of the White House and the real-world restraints on the federal bureaucratic power?
