Here's a well-drawn cartoon. My question: Who's the most gullible?

The funniest answer to my question is: the woman. She thinks the Russians are gullible (though they’re just stuck with the media they can get) and she’s (apparently) married to that guy. She's gulled into joyless endurance while her partner is getting it on with Tucker.

Hillary something!

Aside from "Democrat-created covid" nonsense, one would have to be VERY GULLIBLE and living in a Madison bubble not to recognize that the rest of the phrases represent real issues.

"Hillary something"? How about her secretly setting off the Russia collusion hoax that people like Althouse fell for?

"gullible" indeed!!!

I got into it on FB with some women who thought Biden was doing a bang-up job. They asserted that "everyone knows that the pandemic caused inflation."

Actually, anyone who took Economics knows that one of the prime cause of inflation is too much money in the system and that means Fed money printing. And government spending.

These two women thought they were clever by asserting that I probably watch Tucker (I do.) Are they proud to be listening to CNN, Rachael Maddow, Joy Reid and Chris Hayes? Maddow is smart but she's a shill for the Left. And dishonest.

The Left used to assert that anyone who listened to Limbaugh was a mind-numbed robot.

Rush was exceptionally brilliant. And an Althouse blog reader. Water finds its own level and a blog finds its own audience.

Anyone who objectively and honestly thinks Joe Biden is even doing an average job as POTUS is a dope. The guy is a complete failure and all sorts of people are dying because of him. One would think people would wise up and not be so tribal.

My view is that the Left is wrong about every major issue today and the worst issue is CAGW and the net carbon zero scam. It it continues, China is really going to own us and the keys to our economy. In that regard, Tucker raised the issue just last week that the dollar could well lose its reserve currency status. China is buying oil from Saudi Arabia and not paying in dollars. If you think things are bad now, if the dollar is no longer the world's reserve currency then the US is facing a disaster. CNN, MSNBC, NYT and WaPo would never raise this issue because they are China shills.

That's a low form of expression — "people like Althouse." You apparently know it isn't a true statement about me, but you needed to throw my name in anyway.

You have not high ground to stand on. You just undercut your own credibility and make whatever you're saying not worth my taking the time to read or understand.

This what drives me up the wall about the Liberal/left media. If they were the honest opposition I could have some respect for them. But they're such liars they can't even present their hated Republicans honestly.

No one is claiming "Us weapons labs" in the Ukraine. Its claimed "USA Funded biolabs"
No one is claiming Ashli Babbit is a "martyr". Its claimed she was executed without justification.
Hunter Biden's Laptop WAS Real.
the Jan 6th Protesters WERE/ARE being Railroaded
Hillary broke the law and should be in jail, the Clinton has never explained his trips to Epstein Island.

And so on. Its erie how our MSM has adopted the old Commie trick of accusing the opposition of what you are doing. The MSM constantly lies, makes up conspiracy theories, calls anyone who disagrees Nazis and Putin Puppets and fools its gullible libtard audience with fake news and fake facts.

And then it turns around and accuses average people or the one quasi-conservative TV network of speading "disinformation" and "misinformation" and spreading lies.

Its the Libtard who are constantly enraged and demanding everyone who disagrees be cancelled and deplatformed. Or hysterically calling them traitors and calling for them to be jailed. Its not people watching fox news.

So the implication is that despite evidence to the contrary there are no biolabs in Ukraine, that Hunter's laptop is not (something), that Soros is a-okay, that Ashley B's execution was also a-okay, there was no voter fraud, etc.

The question becomes: Will the Democrats in Boston and elsewhere believe the evidence or a leftmedia cartoon?

The better question is: Have we recently seen a more "well drawn" example of Democrat or lefty lack of both self and world awareness?

The justifications and methods for suppressing free speech are developed in our country's universities and then are exported to our larger society.

University graduates get jobs in big-tech companies, where they use their positions to suppress free speech.

A recent example is the suppression of Russia's media platforms RT and Sputnik.

YouTube brags publicly that it is suppressing RT and Sputnik because of their pro-Russia content. YouTube brags so because our universities have make speech suppression to be intellectually respectable and even admirable.

The USA has its own "oligarchs" who control our society unfairly.

For me, I look at media account, and try to determine if they seek to answer the who, what, where, why, and how. Lacking that information or an explanation of why it is not covered.
Today it is often evident a narrative is the sum and substance of the media narrative.

The cartoon is an exaggeration. As all cartoons are. Making a point by being absurd.

A larger problem is the wide swath of people that have no exposure to any source of information. They are not stupid. They prioritize their time. During the Canadian Trucker strike, I made mention to my 35 year old daughter of the Strike. She knew nothing of its existence. My point being, those that have no knowledge, will most likely hold an opinion forged by the last person they listen to.

Our govt operates with this assumption, which is why they are so crazy about getting social media to push the govt narrative.

I happened to tune into my local libtard radio station on the way to work and it was like listening to a radio broadcast from Alice in Wonderland. The hosts were chirping about how wonderful it was that a poll showed 90% of Ukrainians thought ukraine could win the war. "Oh, how wonderful they have hope" gushed the braindead liberal bimbo. "They're so plucky" intoned the male stor dummy.

It never occured to them that people are being shot in Ukraine for treason, and that no one is going to tell a stranger that they think Ukraine will lose the war. Or that all the people in occupied russian territory weren't available to take the poll.

Or that Zelensky has banned all oppostion parties and the News organizations are under his control and pumping out pro-war propaganda.

what's really sad, is the war is over. There is no "path to victory" for the Ukraine. Every death is an unneccessary tragic one. Zelensky should be negotiating and not getting his own people killed.

The best way to handle Tucker is to not engage with his arguments, because if you do, you run the risk of being drawn to the "dark side" of rational thought. There is a similar cartoon of Russel Brand with hypnotic eyes in The Telegraph, to which Elon Musk tweeted that Brand was a lot more astute and rational than the "news story" merely designed to warn people off of Brand, to prevent their being infected by rationality, empathy, and compassion for all of the world's people too.

I love the idea that it's bizarre to suspect that a guy who, speaking as POTUS, just extemporaneously brought up how we have all been blackmailed by friends with naked pictures, is suffering from dementia.

The one valid point is that the US is likely more heavily propagandized than Russia, or was before the war. Right now, all bets are off. Tucker is beyond the palings because he looks behind it.

But most of his voters just hate Republicans or are dumb Yellow-dog Demorcats. Many of the poorer ones are now suffereing from skyrocketing prices and stagnant wages. I wonder how many are smart enough to make the connection between their Biden votes and the result.

What I like in the cartoon is that TV watching is synonymous with stupid Republican and newspaper-reading is synonymous with literate Democrat. You could try to flip those cartoon characters around, but nobody would believe that there is a Republican newspaper. You'd have to write "New York Post" in teeny tiny print at the top.

The only reason that the cartoon works at all is that Fox has successfully created a place of Republican media on television. Without Fox this cartoon would make no sense whatsoever. The mainstream media, print or TV, is overwhelmingly liberal. Fox is like a little island of right-wing attitude, and it drives liberals crazy that it exists.

If you showed him reading a newspaper, it'd have to be one: NY Post. because the wapo/nyt.boston globe/USA today, newsweek, time, new yorker, New York, Economist, etc. etc.
all are liberal/left. The WSJ has some diversity in its Op-ed page, but its news is standard Liberal/left MSM.

in fact its scary the way 20-30 liberal/left MSM outlets all march in lockstep and show the same stories in almost the same way.

lets go thru some of the mocking by the left portrayed in this cartoon..

Hillary: She essentially paid for the Steele Doiser. Hillary made sure to use a PRIVATE SERVER while she was head of the State Dept. Why?
Probably so she could hide this:

Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal

Hillary, without evidence, said that Tulsi Gabbard
is a Russian agent. Why would she say that? Could it be because Tulsi understands what an elite pompous lying crook and Hillary is, and isn't afraid to say so? Yes.

Hunter's Laptop: Hunter actually did drop it off to a repair shop and forgot about it. (drug use anyone?) - and it's real and it filled with self-incriminating photos and information. (and if a Trump kid did this - we would never hear the end of it)

Voter Fraud: 2020 - We all watched as a select group of precincts in selected & targeted states used hidden tactics and behind-closed-door counting. We all watched the vote count move in strange ways. We all know that legal outfits around the nation were threatened to stay away from aiding Trump. Soon - we will be told that the images of mules used to stuff facebook ballot boxes = all a big nothing.

But we were treated to endless 2016 "It was all stolen from Hillary by the Russians!" by lairs like Maddow and other loyal Party hacks in the MSM.

Jan 6th Why can't we see all the footage? Certainly some people did some stupid stuff - but many people didn't do much of anything - and they are being held in prison and could spend 20 years in jail. All while fake-crime Smolette walks.
Who is Ray Epps? Why are the left so protective of him?

Ashli Babbit She was unarmed and shot to death. Why?
Why is that OK? Why are we not allowed to ask questions?

Bio-weapons labs in Ukraine: It was the MSM who once worried about this. Now that it doesn't fit the narrative - the MSM are taking it all back. So - shut up, they said.

Antifa plot: I'm not sure what this means. Though we do know clearly that the White Left Antifa thugs get to burn down and destroy stuff in places like Portland, and they are released onto the streets within hours without any punishment. Media ignore all their crimes.

Biden Dementia: Shut up everyone - he's fine.
He is almost incapable of speaking coherently unless he's been coached to high heaven, and/or has a teleprompter in front of him. He is often filmed being led away by his handlers including Jill. Off script, he will often mumble the truth. Then a clean up team is dispensed. But please - don't say the old crook has dementia. That's unfair to the collective left's narrative. Just worhsip and praise your dear leader, like a good NBC cog.

Fauci Lies: More like Fauci is an over-paid bureaucrat - and most of us know this, and ignore him. Sadly, instead of gaining our confidence, Fauci has forced many to look for alternative information. Watching leftists wear pro-Fauci t-shirts and fly pro-Fauci flags - that's worth a mocking cartoon right there.

I prefer real experts. Fauci is not one of them.

More on Hunter's Laptop.

(Please obey the left's narrative that the Biden's are wonderful church-going saints)

Back in October 2020, Twitter and Facebook immediately responded to The New York Post’s publication of information from Hunter Biden’s laptop by effectively banning it from their platforms that effectively monopolize public discussion. Twitter punished the Post for reporting the repeatedly authenticated laptop information by suspending its account for two weeks.

“What this means is that, in the crucial days leading up to the 2020 presidential election, most of the corporate media spread an absolute lie about The New York Post’s reporting in order to mislead and manipulate the American electorate,” commented independent investigative reporter Glenn Greenwald.

That laptop provides evidence Joe Biden was involved in Hunter Biden’s pay-for-play schemes with foreign oligarchs, an obvious national security risk. Some of these corrupt deals involved Ukraine, a notoriously corrupt country that is currently petitioning the Biden administration to engage militarily with Russia on their behalf.

Russia also has blackmail material on Hunter Biden, according to videos from his laptop, and the FBI knew about this as early as 2019, according to Federalist reporting: “This explosive revelation establishes that either Joe Biden lied to the American public, or the intelligence community lied to him,” wrote Federalist Senior Contributor Margot Cleveland in 2021.

Lots of the things listed are in fact lies. Fauci lied to us about masks and the risk to kids. There was voter fraud (how much is the question). Jan 6 protesters are being held in solitary for a protest that consisted of taking selfies and going home--some insurrection. We were told by CNN that it was "mostly peaceful" protests by a guy standing in front of a burning business. Is it somehow better that the media does the lying? It is not tucker or Fox doing the propaganda--propaganda is what the gov does. It is what Fauci did.

Well, it's not clear exactly what he means to say. He's putting a lot of stuff out there and you can think about it. He's not pointing obviously at one thing.

One thing he's doing is making fun of the woman on the left. She's worried about the Ukraine and all the Russians who have been duped by Putin.

He's mocking her for her question. "How could the Russians be so gullible?" And he answers her -- he's mansplaining to his cartoon girl -- that we have plenty of gullible people here in the United States. "Look at this insane Republican! Wearing his army fatigues. If you vote Republican, we're liable to invade Mexico and/or Canada."

It's (obviously) a form of propaganda to imply that "Trump is just as bad as Putin" or "Republicans are just like those Russians invading the Ukraine." Does Sutton even realize this? He's criticizing the girl for reading "normal" media and focusing on the Ukraine war. He wants her to stay focused on Tucker Carlson and be terrified of mythical, non-existent possible wars in North America. Maybe it's a future civil war in the U.S. But how dare you focus on the Ukraine, you silly girl, when the real war is right here at home!

The funny thing is, other than "Democrat COVID variant" the things he lists in the "concern bubble" around the angry guy are in fact all serious issues on which serious people disagree, each of which I've seen raised by people across the political spectrum.

"Fauci lies"? I mean, is this even in dispute? He admitted telling his "noble lies" in order to protect the stock of PPE for first responders. Only the most liberal of progressives even want to follow his advice nowadays.

This recent obsession Democrats have with labeling everything they disagree with "Russian" is well-past its sell-by date. Like their race card, they've overused this in trying to smear their opponents with the very thing they've a tendency to do. There was no dearer friend to the USSR than the DNC and no bigger spreaders of Russian disinfo over the last century (and especially the last five years) than the Paper of Record yet the nightly mouthpieces still faithfully parrot her propaganda. Candace Owens had the perfect response to these NYT trolls this week when she told them she learned all about Ukrainian Nazis and corruption by reading it in the Times.

I don't think it's particularly well-drawn. There's no good focal point to grab the eye and set the stage for the whole visual argument. The first thing the eye should discern to begin the story is the woman on the left, but she's in the cool color zone and recedes as compared to the heightened cacaphony and frenzy on the right side of the panel. All of the textual clutter is also lost in noise and nothing stands forth. If the drawer (I daren't say 'artist') wanted us to pick up on the TV with Tucker as part of the argument ("Carlson as misinformation" is a popular trope on the left) he needs to adjust all of that noise on the right side.

I do give him props for getting the very basic left/right alignment correct, so we can at least understand that the guy on the right is "on the right" and the girl is "on the left".

But other than that, meh. No particularly well-drawn at all. And the style is very derivative of other drawers, so this is really a dime-a-dozen panel. Whatever BG paid him for it, it was too much.

Bruce Hayden said...

“Indeed. Tucker doesn't play by the rules - so he must be destroyed.
and you bet that Hillary is behind it. She's always behind it.”

That’s his real danger to the left. He rocks the boat and takes on serious subjects that no one else will. I don’t watch him a lot, but when I do, he does exceptionally well. His hour long interview with Dr Robert Malone was very good, though maybe not quite as good as Joe Rogan’ (Malone and Rogan were Democrats, while Carlson maybe never was). Right or wrong, I don’t think that anyone can truly understand COVID-19 vaccines until you have watched an extended interview of Malone, and then used that to rabbit hole into other related areas. Malone was, of course, the primary inventor of the mRNA technology used in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The thing about both Rogan and Carlson is that they do their homework. Both asked really good questions of Malone, which few in the business could have.

Oh, and his northern studio isn’t in Maine. He tried to build one there by his family’s resort house, and the town repeatedly denied the permits required. It’s in N Idaho, about an hour S of Coeur d’Alene. You can tell that it isn’t Maine, but N ID or W MT by the big picture he has that is in the background on the set, pretending to be a window. You can tell by the trees, same types, but bigger, than in the Front Range in CO, and that the mountains aren’t as sharp as in CO, or above Missoula in MT, plus the dried grass and scrub down below the forest. I first thought that it was taken on I-15 just south of I-90 and Butte. That wasn’t quite right, but 100 miles due west on the ID/WA border makes sense.

One of the things that surprised me was that Carlson, far from being a New England preppie, apparently grew up around San Diego, at the opposite end of the country. Dr Malone had spent a lot of time there too.

tommyesq--"So her wondering who would be gullible enough to buy Putin's lies is intended to be irony, because she herself is being shown to be equally gullible and stupid."

Thoughtful analysis, but my clear impression is that the frantic, Q-shirted maniac watching Tucker Carlson in a maelstrom of buzzwords and partially-formed ideas is the cartoonist's view of the person who would be so gullible as to believe Putin's propaganda.

That anyone could draw this cartoon after having lived in the USA during the last few years of the phony Russiagate nonsense and the ridiculous propaganda of "White Fragility" and "How to be Anti-racist" seems to me to be almost incomprehensible. Too many political cartoonists are thick rather than perceptive.

"That’s his real danger to the left. "

Worth a repeat. Indeed. The left hate Tucker because he does his job as a journalist.
Leftist journalists do their jobs as loyal party hacks.

Now tell me with a straight face that the issues on the yellow background aren't important.

Or at the least, that they shouldn't be discussed, but rather shut down by the unholy marriage of tech, the media, and the democrat party.

Gahrie… a lot of these leftwing yohans now say it’s real but it’s no big deal.

One can’t expect honesty from these people. It’s not in them.

As you see it, I am sure, where you reject it all without examination, as the cartoonist does, on faith that the people running the media know what's best for you, even if they have dragged us to the brink of WW3.

What's the difference between conspiracy theories and the truth? About six months.

In other words, almost everything on the right side of the cartoon is true, and you don't have to be a Qanon wacko to figure that out.

"Which three people, dead or alive, would you like to invite to your next party, and why?

"Stephen Colbert, Maureen Dowd and Barack Obama. I first met Stephen back in 1999, when I was hired to design the animated opening to his Comedy Central show Strangers With Candy. He has the fastest wit I've ever experienced, and is genuinely an incredibly warm, friendly human being. I have yet to meet Maureen, but I've done work for the New York Times and would love to hear about her experience there (not to mention a sampling of the behind-the-political-scenes stories she's amassed throughout her career). As for Barack (can I call him "Barack"? If he's my party guest, sure!), the closest I've ever been to him was the 2009 Inauguration, which I was covering as a cartoonist-reporter. With this threesome, the conversation would be riveting!"

Hmm, well, we KNOW that "Fauci lies", since he first said that normal people didn't need to wear masks to protect from Covid, then later stated that he'd lied then, and in reality they did need to wear masks to protect from Covid.

So the mostt gullible person would be the one believing that Fauci tells the truth.

Which is to say teh most gullible person is the moron drawing the cartoon

Too sooon to say this, but it may prove out that Vladimir Putin was the most gullible.

Dman! Lefty wins the thread

I think one thing we can all agree on is that the Russia military has performed execrably in Ukraine, and the reason why is because people were routinely lying up the chain of command, and Putin bought it, so sent them in when they were going to look like the amateur hour.

How is it that the Russian Air Force hasn't yet gained complete air superiority in Ukraine?
