i think like five years is when you think, "yeah, we can make this work."
Btw, i don't think i saw a pic of him before. you two are a cute couple.
So let me gently suggest... walk away from the computer, and spend the day together. ignore us. we will fling crap at each other like monkeys without your help.
A.W. said: "So let me gently suggest... walk away from the computer, and spend the day together. ignore us."
To hell with that noise.
Here's an alternative suggestion: Spend the day together, here on the blog, as you did before you met in person. Meade really should comment more -- he was one of my favorites.
Congratulations-- I was just thinking the other day that your life seems so much more FUN since you married Mead.... canoeing, hiking, frisbee, nice breakfasts....
Honestly, living is just more... lively... when you don't have to do it alone!
The picture was taken about a month ago at the botanic gardens here in Madison. A woman asked me to take a picture of her and her husband with her camera. I did, and then she wanted to take a picture of me and Meade with my camera. So I said yes, and kissed Meade for the picture. Kissed him twice for 2 pictures actually. Then she wanted me to do another picture of her and her husband, so she could get a kissy pic. They were much more romantic the second time -- and it was especially nice because they were rather old and the man was in a wheelchair. It made me see how much sexual love there really is out there in people that you might imagine have grown beyond that stage. I like to think that Meade and I are spreading the love -- spilling the love, we like to say. I believe in public shows of affection. I think it helps people. I really believe that.

You are. Your story has brought a great deal of joy to everyone here. And showing affection in public sets a great example.
I always encourage couples to use the present tense when describing their marriage rather than the past tense. Or better still, how about: "We are making it!"?
Congrats! You certainly made my day...the Spousal Unit and I have had one of those grumpy, out of phase days and I was nursing a disagreeable mood until I clicked on your bookmark.
i love, love, love the story of althouse and meade. there is nothing more alluring than 2 people who connect intellectually and then...all the other levels.
Did you know there is an "Althouse and Meade" biological and environmental services company in CA? That's what you find when you google today. Not at all like this time last year when you were topping the blogosphere charts.
Congratulations to both of you. I wish you the most happiness possible, and a long life together.
(And if I can be so bold to speak for some bashful "ah shucks" types, I am sure AL, Garage, and Jeremy wish you both the best too.)
Genuinely inspirational for others and, I hope, for the two of you as well. Guts seem to have indeed led to glory. Congratulations to you both, and keep marking occasions for noting your success, big and small, obvious and subtle.

Way to Go! Here's to 40 or 50 more!
One year? Pfui. Nothing. Wait until that dreaded "Seven Year Itch," then see. . .

I wonder where Millie is today. Is she running up the mountain again?
Congratulations. The first year is the hardest. (Well, except for the last year. But I don't think you have to worry about that for a very long time.)
Congratulations, and best wishes for many, many more happy years. You two are sweet together.
Did you ever hear from the lady jogger who was your witness/ photographer?

Congrats! How many kids were you guys planning on having now that the honeymoon is over?
Congrats and best wishes!
Congrats!
Yay!
But I'm not surprised. Fully matured people who have lived for years on their own pretty much go into marriage with their eyes wide open.
and many more to come...
Congratulations, Meade and Althouse!
I hope you didn't try to eat the year-old cake. I think that "tradition" was made up by gastroenterologists.
congrats!
wv: matchal...
It has been a rotten morning, but your post put a smile on my face...

Ann has survived;
that thing he makes her do with a ball,
beer,
Cross country skiing
kayaking
canoeing-
cigars-and sunburn.
Meade has survived Madison.
As you can see-Meade has great coping skills.
Congratulations! May Christ always be with you!
Get a room, you two!
