Seen today in Governor Nelson Park... along with lots of mosquitos... and black raspberries.

A Monarch. Remember when GMO corn was going to drive them extinct? I'm proud my company had a hand in popping that particular bubble of hysteria.

The top photo is curiously arresting. I think the monarch shows to diadvantage compared with the flower, but the background of leaf veins, grass stalks, and flowerette stalks creates a background that is continuous with the monarch's veining. Wonderful.
