Honoré Lachaille the guy is not.
If he's hever pleased with a woman who has any fault he can find, then he rates as a Perfect Avoidant personality type. He will probably have all the Anxious women types knocking themselves out to please him, all to no avail. This is a dangerous dude for women. Do yourselves a favor and just buy him toys, because that is all that he will ever give himself to.
You need a less boring word than "boring."How about the word "meade." Mean is meade. See how that works?Hey, go be meade on someone else's time!
A bit of an egoist, that Henry. His loss - hope it's workin' for him. He seems like such a happy guy. Anyway, que sera sera.
Henry Rollins built a "career" on establishing an aggressive, threatening male personae, only to build upon that a second career trying to reverse that image by saying no, that really isn't me, all that tattooed bellicosity is my inner child reaching out.Hence, coarseness in other people is art school "boring" now. Come to think of it, kind of like Henry VIII lecturing about manners. The Beasti Boys also have attempted a similar post-1980s reinvention, if not revisionism.
Mean isn't boring.Have you heard his music? It sure might be for him.
Henry is such a man - he isn't even hurt if they're mean - he's *bored*.What a freakin' stud!
Henry works so hard at being authentic and uncharmable that he has turned himself into a circus act: The gimlet-eyed Henry Rollins.A while back Rolling Stone asked various musicians to rate the year's ten best songs. Everything new sucks was Rollins' response. His 10 items were re-issues of 50-year-old blues and jazz tunes. Take that, U2.When American Idol finally reaches its last season, and they are desparate for audience share, Henry Rollins will be hired on as a judge. Everything will suck.
I saw Rollins do one of his spoken-word performances (years ago). I can only remember one thing -- he bitched about symphony orchestras being cover bands. Actually, it was pretty entertaining. Not boring.
I have it on good authority that trite is the new boring in art schools. Therefore, Henry may actually find mean women trite. What he seems to be expressing, however, is annoyance. I can say this with certainty because I find annoyance annoying.
Remember this Henry Rollins video. I watched that many times back in the days when MTV was on all the time chez Althouse.
I saw Henry Rollins open for Ozzy Osbourne once on Orlando. Two things stood out.First, he greatly enjoyed taunting the Ozzy fans who couldn't have cared less of rhis shtick.Second, he introduced each song with a brief comment about how each song made him feel. I don't remember the which song it was, but one intro stood out. "This next song makes me want to break this building with my dick." Good luck with that, Henry! Also, why the Henry theme on Chez Althouse? You even called Harry Knowles "Henry", and I don't believe Harry is a nickname for Henry in his case.
Yeah, I know his given name is Harry and it's not a nickname for Henry. I would have put the update as a separate post today it it was. Then when I did it as an update, I left the Henry in by accident. Today, you're right. It's a theme. It's all Henry.
Don't be jealous! Your day may come.
My preferred MTV prism on the Rollins video Liar.
Henry Rollins has always been boring *and* mean *and* predictable. His ilk - hardcore crap bands like Rollins' Black Flag, Flipper, Circle Jerks, Fear, Dead Kennedys - ruined the best live music scene in California since the early/mid 60s teen scene (pre-hippy). They took an environment that was wide open musically, fun & danceable, gender/persuasion diverse, and drove away everyone but their fascist youth, suburban male white jock fanboys. Rollins has no idea what he missed because he his angry presence killed it.Boy, you'd think I'd be over this by now, but the club-centric music scene of the mid/late 70s was so incredibly fun & open, but way too fragile for such violent behavior to survive. And although teen clubs flourished again in the 90s (at least in the Bay Area), the over 18 set hasn't seen such times since.
Don't be jealous! Your day may come.My day HAS come, baby! I too am a Henry.
I've always liked Kathleen Hanna's thinly veiled rant on Rollins. I found a transcript here, but the recorded version is unforgettable. iTunes packages it with the song "Heartbeat" under Mike Watt--it's well worth the 99 cents. :)
Audities, your comment really struck home. I remember feeling the same thing here in Boston (not LA ;) about how annoyingly violent the scene became. 'Slam' and pogo dancing started out as a lot of fun and silliness in front of a lot of great bands (Lyres, Mission of Burma, pre-hardcore Freeze) and then got co-opted by meth-snorting nowhere drones looking for a chance to punch or stab someone and get away with it.On your coast you had The Dickies, whom I have always adored, and others. Back when it was punk rock MUSIC as Leonard Graves Phillips once said years later when I finally got to see them. The hardcore bands were fun and exciting for about a week and then things got really sour. As you said, the club scene was a fragile entity, and very quickly the thought of a 'punk show' became laughable to club owners who previously were very open to the idea.I respect Henry's honesty to himself but could care less what he thinks about anything. Muscle suit or no, he's a punk brat in the very worst sense of the word.
He has a hard time finding a girl because he's "picky"? Sounds like something someone in the closet would say. Is the anger in his voice directed at women or at the questioner for asking asking him to explain himself.
Love you Henry, but not in that way. Please don't get bored. Henry is a funny dude. If any of you get a chance to go to any of his spoken word showings, you should give it a shot.
As you said, the club scene was a fragile entity, and very quickly the thought of a 'punk show' became laughable to club owners who previously were very open to the idea.In New Orleans, the punk scene was dominated by upper-class private school kids. That turned me off after the first show.
Let's hope no upper-class private school kids accidentally stumble into one of Beth's classes. Little snots.
How old is this vid? He looks a lot younger than he really is.Meanwhile, he sits at home, alone, having righteous revenge fantasies about Ann Coulter: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iM7MR5_v47wHey, she's hard to please too - about the same age as he is, both successful, yet single...hmmmm.Could it be? Could it be...love?
HR claims now to be all sensitive and soft, but Kathleen Hanna has other ideas...http://www.hootpage.com/hoot_wrestlingandkathleen.html
