Wow, "Sophia" is dead. "Golden Girls" was remade in the UK as "Brighton Belles" and let me tell you, the lady that played Estelle Getty's character, couldn't hold a candle to her.

RIP.

P.S.: And speaking of WASP humour, you can add the magnificent diction and dead-pan timing of Betty White, to the mix of Carson and Newhart.

Cheers,
Victoria

Godspeed, Estelle Getty.

I'm thinking I will be inconsolable when Betty White dies.

Today is Sad Day.

Bea Author is quite good as Cher here. The hair flick a nice touch.

I know a deaf fellow, now an actor in an all deaf troupe, who discovered Cher on TV by chance through reruns. He was amused by the way she ate a microphone and worried with her hair, which he exaggerated into twirling, continuously. He was given to falling into Cher mode as he understood it and, although silent, it was a spot on imitation and hilarious.

I just read Estelle was actually younger than Bea Author and Betty White and that she suffered with Lewy body dementia. (Which caused me to look that up.) Apparently her 85th birthday is just three days off.

Thank you Estelle, that was quite a good show you had there

Thanks, loved the skit. I think all three of the golden girls are terrific. I watched and enjoyed "Maude" as a teenager and loved that show, too. I ran into Betty White at my vet's office in West Los Angeles. She was taking her pet(s) in for a check or something. She really is an animal lover to the utmost. I refrained from staring or saying even one word to her, not wanting to upset her normalcy. What's the correct way to great a movie star anyway? Hi, Betty! Hello, Ms. White. I wonder.

I also loved what Defamer highlighted, which included this gem: "So what? I'm old, I'm supposed to be colorful."

I saw the news, yesterday. She always had a way that made me smile. Thanks for the tribute and a great way to start the day.

Estelle and Bea were great, but Betty White's deadpan timing steals the scene even though she was lacking a funny costume and was relegated to the "straight man" role here!

Rest in Peace, Estelle.
