How inappropriate would it be to suggest that this photo too could be a beaver shot (like the previous post), if taken from a different angle?

(I'm guessing really, really inappropriate)

Hmmm, I didn't know what I was going to do this evening. I was thinking about taking a swim. But, now I think I'll go outside, sit on the bench, and read a book.

My Althouse photo post decision making method in action!

What is the distinction between men in shorts and women in shorts? Is it just the obvious aesthetic point that women's legs are architecturally more attractive, or is there something peculiar to men in shorts?

labels: flowers, photography, legs

I know. Someone will call me the worst kind of sexist pig.

But then I admit, I'm a guy, and when it's that obvious, I notice.

Then again, speaking of a woman getting noticed, check out this story. I almost fell out of the seat laughing when I read it.

As a guy, I never liked wearing shorts, because, like Althouse, I thought they make me look childish and ugly.  Men's legs range from the barely tolerable to the disgusting, IMHO.

On the other hand, as a guy, I would never object to attractive women wearing shorts.  Exhibit 'A' is above. Also, as a guy, I confess that I do not notice her striking red hair first. Definitely not first.

Anyway, speaking of women's legs, I ran across this blog about photography, whose owner, KT Lindsay in Oxford, England, currently uses a photo of her legs as a profile picture.  This might be a little too cheesecakey if she weren't such a good photographer.  She has a few pictures of herself in her blog, and she seems like a slim, attractive young woman, but she doesn't at all create an overly sexualized atmosphere.  Her pictures, both of herself and other subjects, are honest in a pleasant and technically interesting way.  She puts up some very good advice about digital photography relating to her photos. I think her blog is an unpretentious breath of fresh air for amateur, and perhaps even some professional photographers.

You also might want to check out KT Lindsay's Flickr page for a lot more of her photos.

Wow! Thank you Theo! I am always a little nervous about the image I create when I post up pictures of myself, self portraiture is basically a way that I can experiment with photography without taking up loads of other people's time. Your comments are really appreciated and I am very grateful!

Men in shorts versus women in shorts ... for me, it's the hair as well as the architecture.
