Dang. Our Octpus car wash went out of business 2 years ago. I badly wanted that octopus for my backyard, but one day it was gone. Gone!

The reason this post isn't at all like Lileks is that he'd start describing what we can all see in the picture but somehow do it in a way that would make everything absurd. I am framing the shots to put some ideas in your head, so I don't usually want to substitute text, and I like leaving the comments open for riffing on the images. I love the idea of Fuelman and the Octopus in a battle.
I grew up a few blocks from that Octopus...
Cute. Not scary. The 15 foot high mural of a wild-eyed Italian chef that confronts the octopus from Lombardino's -- very scary!
Dory: Yeah, we need to get Chef Lombardino in the battle with Octopus and Fuelman.
Wow, seeing the octopus brought back memories from the 80's as a lone republican in that left leaning part of heaven.
Always wondered why an octopus would want to rep for a 'touchless' car wash tho...
So yesterday was clearly octopus day.
Note that on the Filmore '71 album are these lyrics:
