Said WaPo style reporter Shane O’Neill, in "The controversy over Bianca Censori’s naked Grammys outfit with Kanye West/Unpacking 'naked dressing,' power dynamics and what that red carpet stunt really meant."
I've been avoiding this topic because I like to withhold attention from people who are trying to get attention, but I liked Shane O’Neill's way of addressing the story, which I'm sure you've noticed.
The one thing I'd like to add is that I assume Censori is in on the performance and just as dedicated to it as Yoko Ono was part of "Two Virgins" — way back in 1968:
[John] Lennon said that the cover "just seemed natural for us. We're all naked really." Ono viewed the cover as a significant declaration: "I was in the artistic community, where a painter did a thing about rolling a naked woman with blue paint on her body on a canvas; ... that was going on at the time. The only difference was that we were going to stand together, which I thought was very interesting ... it was just standing straight. I liked that concept."... Lennon commented that the uproar seemed to have less to do with the explicit nudity, and more to do with the fact that the pair were rather unattractive; he described it later as a picture of "two slightly overweight ex-junkies."

OK, I googled pictures, and she does not look happy.
Public nakedness should be reserved to people between the ages of 19 and 24.
On topic:
Today’s installment of “Leftists are losing it"
It's just crazy Kanye bragging to all about his latest sexual piece of meat.
Yoko and John were just 2 natural hippies.
Public nudity should only be allowed when skinny dipping. In the dark. When you're a teenager.
The one thing I'd like to add is that I assume Censori is in on the performance...
I'm of the mind that this is a classic BDSM Dominance/Submission relationship and she's into it.
If all you're wearing is a vegan leather harness, does that still count has nude? do vegan leather harnesses count as fashion?
"The Emperor's New Clothes" may have been the first satire of fashion, and the emperor the first fashion victim. He was naked but everyone told him he was stylish.
No, she doesn't. She looks to be meeting the requirements for a contract. She was bought and paid to display herself and pose for photos. I'm guessing she was paid quite a lot for the stunt.
Ok, let's see if I can do this again without offending Google; Bianca is a sub, she enjoys this. This is the kind of thing kinky people do, they just don't have the media access that Kayne does.
Whatever the stunt was, I'm not sure that the drooling idiots got it. And I agree, she looked uncomfortable and embarrassed, like someone that's been put up to it. And why is it the people that are always calling the rest of us 'squares' are the ones that are always blurring out the pictures, dammit.
I think both of them looked blank and that was the plan. Very similar to John and Yoko. They're both just standing there. I'd say the message is: Project what you want and you are what you project.
If what you project is that the man is controlling the woman and, oh, that poor woman, that came out of your head.
What came out of mine is here are 2 artists, doing a project, and the whole world is talking about them, because people are so weird about nakedness.
I like the scene in Genesis when Adam and Eve "realize" that they are naked.
Considering how queered the Western world is right now, I'm frankly amazed codpieces haven't come back into fashion.
What struck me, watching the video, was that the assembled photographers were taking it very much in stride, shouting her name, trying to get her to look their way (or maybe spread her thighs a little) so they could get the shot. It may have been unexpected, but it was not anything they didn't know how to deal with.
She did have a transparent, very short dress on. She even tugged it down a couple of times, as if it helped to conceal something to do that. Whether by habit or for real, that demonstrates some self-consciousness.
If what you project is that the man is controlling the woman and, oh, that poor woman, that came out of your head.
Not projection, it's based on people I've known. It might not be something Ann Althouse would do or common behavior in Madison, but then not everyone is Ann Althouse and not all cities are Madison.
Hoist teh sails and trim dat trim!
Whether it was for art, or whatever, she did not look happy in the photos I saw. Maybe that was the pose she was seeking to project as an artist, but my mirror neurons registered discomfort.
As a keen observer of exactly how much nudity is publicly accepted now, I would point out that at the beach and pool (and especially at resorts), women now feel free to totally expose their butt cheeks so long as there is a hint of a thong strap somewhere in their buttcrack, with the front part of the thong just above the vulva where the "Insert Here" tattoo would go, I suppose. I also keep abreast of the revelations up above and marvel at the ingenious ways one can holster those puppies and still show some sideboob and peakaboo cleavage with the nips just on the verge of getting a peek at who's looking.
Based on my research, I'd say things are getting Censorious. Bianca's not that many standard deviations from the norm anymore.
Censori always looks unhappy, which makes me think she's not so much dedicated to the performance as trapped and used.
As John Hartford, an old singer said,
Won’t you let be look myself, instead of waving it at me.
Don’t leave it hanging out and saggin, over everything I see.
Don’t take it off till I’m ready, let me have my little dream.
Have mercy on my poor old prurient interest.
Hopefully for their next "art" project, he'll be butt-naked too, so everyone can see what she's getting since we all know quite clearly what he's getting*.
Other than notoriety, that is.
*I am insanely grateful that she is not challenging traditional, Western norms of female beauty. Maybe they can do that one in about 30 years.
Eyes down here.
Pity the furniture.
Ye never smiles. She is an exhibitionist and is not uncomfortable showing off.
Hopefully, more attractive celebrities will follow her lead during the Oscars.
Progress to the prehistoric past. Sacrifice of virgins, too.
Naked Beneath My Clothes was Rita Rudner's book (she was a comedienne from the 80s and 90s who is still alive but hasn't been heard from in lately).
From what I heard, Ye and Bianca were escorted away from the ceremony. She is not only his wife and his trophy but also his architect. Apparently, that didn't cut any ice with the bouncers.
True art. Much like the FUGS singing Polaroid Spread Shots. Art for art's sake!
I think the Grammies are famous for risque outfits and the odd nip slip. This nukes any other possible outfit. I understand Gwyneth Paltrow is introducing a new line of labial make-up. Perhaps she can be the spokesperson for this new cosmetic line.
I missed out on streaking 1973 or so.
I've seen better. If you look for Isis Fashion Awards 2024 (Nude Accessory Runway Catwalk Show), you can see some.
And the uncensored Censori pic that I saw brought to mind the immortal Robert Burns poem "Nae Hair On't."
The models in Part 6 are very attractive, especially the one in the glasses.
Meh. She always looks like that. I think it's part of the performance.
An unfortunate truth, that the number of women willing to go topless is much, much greater than the number of women whose breasts look good when exposed to the masculine gaze.
I didn't mind it.
Its just Épater les bourgeois. Old news even in the 80s
If the subject is unclothed breasts, I just want to go on record as in favor.
