"Several billion? That's peanuts for these guys."

ADDED: I asked Grok, "How is a politician's selling of meme coin different from selling tangible items like branded hats and coffee mugs?" and then "How is it the same?"

And here we go. Seems like a re-run from 8 years ago and it's only Day 2.

Grifting even before entering office.
Wonder how much TikTok contributed via $Trump for that reversal.

The press is less aggressively playing their stupid asshole game with Trump this time around. They even responded to his humor.

Trump was referring to the 3 investors in Stargate. It is a $500b AI data center project. Recently, I have asked the Omaha Public Power District to build reliable natural gas power plant so that Omaha can get some more data centers. But the OPPD Board is still committed to net zero.

Narrator: Here we witness the quadrennial return of the delicate lifeform known as Journalistic Curiosity focusing on its prey of choice Financial Gain. No workable explanation has ever been made for why this rare predation happens so infrequently during Democrat administrations but the leading theory is that the Journalist, to use its common name, requires at least four and sometimes eight years of hibernation before it regains its appetite for new prey. Others speculate that the Journalist enjoys an unexplained symbiotic relationship with Democrats much like the parasite and host relationship known in similar species of Leftist critters.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Well, "before entering office" is known as being a private citizen. You're right Mark. Only "public servants" like Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell should be allowed to make successful investments.

You'll need nukes, Dave.

Leftist politicians are more willing to go outside the lines to get what they want. The ends are seen as justifying the means. See Roe v. Wade and the 'discovery' that the death penalty was unconstitutional back in the 1970s. See every administrative action of Obama and Biden. The right wing more often plays by the rules, sticks to tradition, and follows laws as written (and this is why unpredictable Trump caused TDS).

Journalists get ahead (get a scoop) by going outside the lines, and through raw professional aggression. Wiretaps and pretext calls. Leaks. Inside sources such as Deep Throat. Covert revolutionaries who use press credentials to slip behind enemy lines, such as the 'journalists' covering Gaza a couple years ago.

Not coincidentally, journalistic methods are often identical to Deep State CIA and intelligence agency methods. Professional buddies all.

…nukes as a source of power or to eliminate the OPPD board?

Thanks, Mike. Reading that to myself in David Attenborough's voice gave me a nice chuckle.

Did these libtard piece of shit Democrat Party members of the media ever ask Creepy Joe about any of his ill-gotten gains? Remember the time when it was revealed that Creepy Joe failed to disclose $5 million dollars he received from the Chinese government and the USA DOJ and IRS under the Biden administration declined to even investigate? Did even one of those rat-lipped scumbags ever question that?

Dave Begley said...

I will be running to become an elected OPPD director in 2026.

Enigma said...

Yes, they did question it and saw it as a serious threat to their power. In turn, they immediately called for Trump impeachment #297.

Bitcoin and the rest seem like a sure loser to me, investmentwise, except for greater fool theories. Nobody's obligated to accept them.

Isn’t that kind of an extreme way to deal with the intransigence of the Omaha Power Util- Oh wait, that’s not what you’re saying.

Oh Good grief, so now the DNC Press is back pretending their care about "Ethics" and "Corruption". Jan 19th - Ethics? Whats that? Everything biden does is was OK. Jan 21st - wow, Trump might be doing something shady, better report on it!

This is all part of the Liberal/Left Democrat game plan. Question the ethics of every Republican/Conservative you don't like. Suddenly, its a national issue. Then when its a Leftist/Democrat - go silent. No ethical concerns. Ever.

RCOCEAN II said...

Just to repeat what is said before: The DNC Press spent 4 years giving Biden pre-screened written questions. And being content with him giving a news conference a month. Teeing it up for him. There's no reason for Trump to put up with nasty biased questions from punk DNC-MSM reporters. Or debate them.

Things need to be different this time. The only problem is that Trump seems to like dueling with these clowns.

Biden was a corrupt Pol who made his millions through Graft and being a pawn of the big donors. He came to DC without a cent, and if he'd lived solely on his salary would probably be worth a million or two. He's always been a good little boy who did what he was told because he was making $$$ off it.

Trump ran in 2016 as a billionaire. He's not doing anything because some big donor will make him rich. He's LOST money by being POTUS.

Hah!

Trump should have said; "Well, I need the money to pay the State of New York."

D.D. Driver said...

I don't like this any more than I like Hunter Biden's grifty paintings or Obama's house in Martha Vineyard (and Hawaii, and Chicago, and Washington D.C.) This is a big sloppy Willie Brown blowjob, and the Trumpers can't wait to get on their knees.

D.D. Driver said...

Mike- do you realize grift can exist on both side of the aisle. Both things can be true. Nancy and Trump can (and indeed are) both grifters. Trump has been a lifelong grifter that used the NY political machine to steal private property and build casinos. He's always been this way.

Here's the law that I would like to see: once you accept any federal job, for the next 20 years your book sales, speaking fees, crypto profits, any thing with your face or "brand," ALL OF IT goes to the federal treasury. You may retain a very modest royalty, but the rest of that belongs to US. You built your "brand" selling landmines to Ukraine and vaccines that didn't work. You shouldn't get to profit from that.

If you aren't willing to take that bargain, stay away from my tax dollars.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Too bad Democrats have blocked all attempts to impose those rules on Congress. Even the Gingrich era rule about Congress following laws they pass was repealed by Democrats once they were back in power.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

I like the ambiguity of it.

What better way to say thanks for the oil lease.

You will have my vote, Dave. Oh, wait, I'm in New Mexico and I am not a democrat so I can't vote for you. Keep us appraised - I'll send you a small donation.

Somebody just found another $240 millionwired directly to Joe Biden from China, Romania, and Russia. (Instapundit)

Wince said...

The one who must be most enraged hearing about this must be Biden.

The Clinton's and Obama's figured out how to use public office to enrich themselves "legally." Trump had wealth even before he entered public office.

Biden had to engineer this sloppy influence peddling scam to scrape together a "meager" low eight-figure fortune, and further disgrace his family through preemptive pardons.

Certainly no worse than having your son sell terrible artwork at prices no one would pay if there wasn't more to gain than a ruined canvas.

Christopher B - That Instapundit item was 240K not millions.

Thanks for sharing the Dem talking point, jim. You can collect your dogecoin from your Democrat masters.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

I don't care who in DC makes money investing when it's in the open and we can all see it and act on the same info they have. Investments are not indicative of corruption. Secrecy is. From our inception presidents tended to be wealthier than most people and that's ok. Unless you're a commie and/or the wealth was created in secret.

JAORE said...

"Christopher B - That Instapundit item was 240K not millions."
True enough. But it brings back an old expression, "I know what you are [Joe}, we're just haggling over the price."

D.D. Driver said...

So fake paintings and grifty meme coins are "wealth creation"? Wocka-wocka, not buying it.

Rabel said...

The Comer/Bartiromo interview is from May, 2024.

The 240k check is not new news.

Rusty said...

Grifting is taking taxpayer money under false pretenses. Like the Bidens with China. This is above board and voluntary.

Rusty said...

Hunter Biden paintings and the coins aren't graft. No one was forced to buy them.
