Posing on the front steps... ready to fight... or dance.

IMG_0624 (4)

We're told that when Trump stepped out of the SUV, President Biden said, "Welcome home." Nice.

And nice hat on Melania and purple tie on Trump. Jill leaves in brilliant blue.

That's my photo, from my remote outpost in Madison, Wisconsin, where it is 29 degrees colder than it is in Washington, where the inauguration solemnities and festivities have been moved indoors.

Melania's channeling Clint Eastwood, I swear. The Dame with No Name.

They always say welcome home. The first Bush said it with the strain that said he didn’t mean it…

Aw, here's the proper place to say how beautiful Melania looks! The hat is stunning.

Melania has a mysterious Audrey Hepburn vibe going on today. Hubba Hubba.

I shopped for a "Make America Purple Again" hat around the end of Trump 45's term. The purple tie is obvious and welcome messaging.

Like weddings, no significance. It's what happens day to day much later that makes significance emergent, or not. Women want to enforce significance on everything regardless, which is what makes them frivolous at heart.

I wonder how many times CNN and MSNBC will call Trump a "felon" today.

No Republican red outfit today. LOL.

The nice thing about that brilliant blue coat is you can put it in the laundry together with the whites and they'll come out looking much brighter.

It's possible to be so "cool" that one is uncool, and so "uncool" that one is cool. Biden's aviator glasses were supposed to be cool but were radically uncool. Trump dancing is radically uncool, but has sort of become cool in spite of everything.

Bullock: Interesting prospects for my replacement. Let's see.

Grant: No, it's gotta be a woman.

Bullock: What a surprise. I suppose a certain bust size would help. Maybe some bathing-suit shots?

Grant: It will annoy Howard if it's a woman. - Tell you what. All I want is someone as intelligent as you... ...but a little less tense and argumentative. A sort of Katharine Hepburn figure.

Bullock: You don't deserve Katharine Hepburn.

- Grant: Audrey Hepburn.

- Bullock: Also too good. Just stay away from the Hepburns.

Watching the motorcade. SO many security people lining the way, they vastly outnumber the spectators.

Caption: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
And how big is that TV, it looks huuuuuge as Trump would say.

Does Biden believe in anything at all?

Kinda funny the Inauguration landed on MLK Day. Jolly, even.

The thing about Trump that is really cool is that he's always ready to "dance AND fight." Take your pick.

Mike Pence strolls in all by himself.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Bet Biden didn't hear it from Trump though.

Moochelle Obama skipped out on the event again. Ketanji Brown Jackson looked positively pissed as she entered.

Good. I was a more than a bit concerned about the post ceremony walk.

Melania's channeling Clint Eastwood

That hat may be the most memorable image from the inauguration.

I was eating a sausage biscuit and watching the live coverage. Yes, this - a lot of Very Important-Looking People are looking very peeved at this unfolding of events.

That's almost a Lady Di look on Melania. Interesting. They are/were both women who could really wear a hat. Not everybody can.

My partner hates them. Back in her modeling days, she was in demand to model them. And she is good doing that. But took them off as quickly as she could.

She has fair skin, and is sensitive to the sun (Had a pretty fast moving basil cell melanoma cut out of her eyebrow a couple years ago), so should wear them when we go out in the AZ/NV sun. Nope. So, we’ll walk into a store with her hatless. Then she will decide that she needs a hat to get to the car, so demands mine. I ask her why I, who planned ahead, should have to go hatless to the car. She responds that I should be quiet, and hand it over, which I inevitably, dutifully, ultimately do.

The brim on that hat is a bit wide. It's absolutely iconic, high fashion and glamorous, but somewhat awkward, when you compare Mrs. Reagan's Inaugural hat, and Jackie O's pillbox hat---both who seemed far more at ease. Then again, nobody's gone through what the Trumps have been subjected to. --What the Country's been through. So perhaps a little awkwardness and stiffness is expected.

Ann, with all the threats, it had to be moved to a safer venue

Bruce Hayden, few things are as hot as a girl wearing a man’s hat. I hope you are charging her for borrowing your hat by asking her to keep it on at home, if you know what i mean and i think you do….

Especially if it’s a cowboy hat that then becomes an, um, cowgirl hat….

That big-brim hat helps keep the cheek kissers at a distance.

Melania’s outfit worked its magic. Melania is #12 on Amazon’s best seller list.

I swear to God the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw Melania's outfit was "Hepburnesque".

As in Katherine, Aubrey never crossed my mind.
