It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A.

Grok summary: "Kathy Hochul's 2025 State of the State: Celebration or Controversy?/During New York Governor Kathy Hochul's 2025 State of the State address, a moment of celebration was captured where attendees were seen dancing and clapping. This unexpected levity led to significant online criticism, with many arguing that such festivities were inappropriate given New York's ongoing issues like population loss, rising crime, and inadequate public safety measures. Critics expressed frustration and embarrassment, highlighting the perceived disconnect between the state's leadership and its pressing challenges."

I see they’re having a good time but did they really get themselves clean? Hmm.

People have too few crises to manage if they’re focusing on this. It was cringey, but other than that, no big deal.

Attendees? This was a performance, not simply a celebration amongst "attendees"

If I’m being encouraged to consider and equivalence between this and the Trump campaign…campaign, I reject the equivalence. This is lipstick on a pig…

…and I can’t see anywhere- who are those people? A geriatric dance troop or New York legislators?

A bunch of old people doing choreographed dancing looks so awkward, doubly so for the old white person. Why didn't they have high school kids up there? Not undignified enough?

The carcass of New York's economy and government will provide ample entertainment and sustenance for its many parasites for decades to come. Yippee!

Nobody believes that you have to focus on the most important thing all the time. Nobody.

This is a state of the state address--a government event staged using taxpayer money to fulfill a public purpose.

Speak for yourself, Grandpa. And btw, its not a black and white world anymore. Plenty of hispanic, brown, and yellow Asians. Where do they rank in your "cant dance" ranking?

Why shouldn't they celebrate? As if the Dumb Democrat voters will ever vote them out. LOL.

Just keep standing by Israel, support unlimited abortion, open borders, and shovel money out to special interests, and they can stay in office forever. So, dance happy.

i LOVE how they have No talent or rhythm!
Haven't seen such incompetent dancing since Time Walz tried it

If a criminal alien from Guatemala had set fire to that athymic chorus line comprised of more left feet than right... then we'd have a real State of the State summation.

Democrats are the party of... dance, sing, JOY! Stories, Hollywood.

Certainly dems are no longer worth a damn in the arena of serious and honest governing; placing the people first. They are a giant DEI vanity project.
Fail.

I haven't been interested in visiting New York for stuff like a Broadway show because of the crime. Now I have less interest due to the quality of show they seem capable of performing.

looked like the dancing that goes on at a wedding reception when those who can't dance have had enough to drink and head out onto the floor

Feels forced and doesn't have the spontaneous energy as the ridiculous, but fun Trump white guy dance.

Interesting. Not a single White Man on stage.

The remark of Samuel Johnson about a dog dancing on its hind legs was never more apropos......They were actually pretty good. Their moves demonstrated the practice and hard work that went into perfecting the routine. If there's ever a dance off between them and other state legislators, I'm sure they would be contenders.

We voted for Trump three times. After this, my wife said she would now vote for Cuomo.
Any of the three.

The recent revelation of abuse and murder by the personnel at Marcy Correctional Facility in upstate NY should be a bigger concern than an over-40 dance troupe.

I don't know that I've see a story buried as quickly as that one was.

NY state Government should just hang out a sign: White men need not apply. Lets See: Female Governor. NY Sec of state, Lt Governor, NY State AG, NY Speaker of House, NY state head of Senate, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals = all black.

My first thought: 'nurses dancing in Covid-19 hospital wards' vibes.

Performative, the dance!

I'm feeling very confused. Is this traditional in New York? I mean, it's fine, if so, far be it from me to diss other people's traditions, but this is the first I've heard of it, for sure.

I also wonder if it's AI, which goes to the Musk(?) comment that they promised us flying cars and instead we got 140 characters.

What's the story about this? These aren't dance professionals.... are they appointed government officials, or elected ones? What was the purpose behind this lame production?

Aggie said...

"a moment of celebration was captured where attendees were seen dancing and clapping..." Attendees? Just happened to wear the same suits and intuited the same choreography? I'm betting they're government employees, celebrating their awesomeness.
