That standard was met in all these cases. It’s not that their attackers needed killing, but rather, it is legally just fine to have done so, if they posed a deadly threat. And they all got a jury to agree to that theory. But you and others objected to them being charged at all. Telling the cops "hey I was in reasonable fear for my life" should not be sufficient to allow the cops to say, "hey, don't sweat it, go on home and don't worry about it."

That is the whole point of the legal proceedings, to ensure that the fear was reasonable and the homicide was justified.

Freder, that's exactly what cops and prosecutors do when the circumstances justify the killing. Got a burglar prowling around your house at night? Most states follow the "Castle Doctrine" and allow the use of lethal force in such cases. Or how about bodega owners who kill armed robbers in their stores?
