"I’m grateful he accepted my invitation and hope he’s able to have fun and appreciate how much his fellow citizens admire his courage."

Said JD Vance, quoted in "Daniel Penny accepts VP-elect JD Vance's invite to be his 'personal guest' at the Army-Navy game Saturday. "

Trump and Vance are the perfect choice for our times. It helps to be unafraid to say and do the right thing. Penny is but an example of that. In the leftie vernacular, I would support Penny being centered in this way.

An invitation from a superior officer is considered an order. Even after leaving military service, I think it would be hard not to accept an invitation from someone ranking above the SECDEF. And hey, Army/Navy, always a fun game, even if you didn't attend West Point (but got accepted there).

I hope I tune into the game in time to hear the introduction to Mr. Penny. I predict the crowd noise will be enormous.

It's fascinating to see so many treating Trump and Vance as if they are already the sitting Prez and VP.

And of course, kept the letter for 30 years so you could prove it when it comes time for the media to try to falsely smear you.

It's a damn good thing you went over to Google and copied the spelling of that word and pasted it into your comment.

Last I heard, Neely's shitsack of a family is suing him. Benjamin Crump is probably their attorney. We have a lot to thank the lawprof's of the late 20th century for. Too bad they're mostly dead.

A few months later, Neely belted a 67-year-old woman in the East Village, police sources said."

I had no idea until the day of Penny's acquittal that Neely's "father" (I'm being extremely gracious) "was"/(is) a lifelong junky and barely knew his son existed before he met his well-deserved end. To hear him speak in front of the courthouse you'd have thought he practically raised him all by himself if it weren't for the fact he's a bald-faced liar. And now they need to cash in...

Young black men of a certain demographic profile in the US aren't really viewed as fully human within their own communities until, or unless, they become a source of cash for the parasites within their own communities. You need look no farther than Sharpton's NAN or Michael Brown's own family getting into a well-known fist-fight with each other over t-shirt proceeds from their dearly and recently departed thugling.

Epic trash.

One can trace a fairly straight line through US political culture from Bernhard Goetz to George Zimmerman to Kyle Rittenhouse to Daniel Penney...one difference is that national political leaders didn't used to publicly fete such vigilante killers.

Kevin said...

Skeptical Voter said...

Hey once a Marine always a Marine. And this is two Marines going to a ball game. And Kakistocracy get your facts straight. Zimmerman was getting his head pounded into the pavement; Rittenhouse shot someone who was pointing a gun at him, and Penny, along with a black guy and a Hispanic guy restrained a man threatening a subway car full of people. They may be a lot of things, but vigilante killers they were not.

Bruce Hayden said...

“I'm not a lawyer and can't speak to the criminal charges, but he killed a man.”

And the killing was legally justified by the self defense acquittal. Ditto, of course, for Zimmerman, Rittenhouse, etc. The legal standard is if you are in reasonable fear of death or great bodily injury, for yourself, OR ANOTHER, you can utilize deadly force. That standard was met in all these cases. It’s not that their attackers needed killing, but rather, it is legally just fine to have done so, if they posed a deadly threat. The 6th (Jewish/Calvinist) or 5th (Roman Catholic) Commandment is not “Do Not Kill”, but rather “Do Not Murder”. And killing in self defense is not murder.

before he met his well-deserved end.

So you have gone from "we should reopen all the state mental facilities and lock all the homeless and mentally ill up" to "he deserved killing, let's just summarily execute all the Untermensch and useless eaters".

If you represent the direction this country is going, we are going to be in deep shit for the next four years.

Freder Frederson said...

The legal standard is if you are in reasonable fear of death or great bodily injury, for yourself, OR ANOTHER, you can utilize deadly force. That standard was met in all these cases.

And they all got a jury to agree to that theory. But you and others objected to them being charged at all. Telling the cops "hey I was in reasonable fear for my life" should not be sufficient to allow the cops to say, "hey, don't sweat it, go on home and don't worry about it."

That is the whole point of the legal proceedings, to ensure that the fear was reasonable and the homicide was justified.

But apparently, you want to dispense with lawyers, judges, and juries. Which is kind of odd for someone who spent their most of their professional life practicing law. I guess you think the best way to defend a patent is to challenge the violator to a duel.

RideSpaceMountain said...

We have been in deep shit for the last four years, and people have a natural right to self-defense against those who threaten bodily-harm and death. Jordan Neely made a decision, a fatal one. Decisions have consequences, and people who make bad decisions deserve to pay for them. Sometimes that includes their lives.

You represent where the country was. Buckle up buttercup.

Remember that cop in Ferguson. After he was exonerated, he moved away and kept a purposefully low profile. That might be the best strategy. The media are aware of Rittenhouse and Zimmerman and you can be sure that if they have any human failings, the media will hasten to inform the public of them....Penny is a brave man, and he was unfairly tried. He's about to become a big celebrity. Fame doesn't corrupt the way power does, but not everyone thrives under a spotlight. Anyway, I wish him well.......And all Republican should thank Alivin Bragg. He was personally responsible for millions of Democrats switching their votes.

A delicious hors d'oeuvres my late mother (ob. 12 years ago today) used to make: slices of lox or other smoked salmon, slips of raw onion, and capers on pita bread. Tasty and very healthy.

I've since improved it by substituting Scandinavian Crisp Bread crackers for the pita. Not much difference in taste, but the rough surface of the cracker with all the little depressions means the capers don't roll around or fall off the edges.

*********

Freder, that's exactly what cops and prosecutors do when the circumstances justify the killing. Got a burglar prowling around your house at night? Most states follow the "Castle Doctrine" and allow the use of lethal force in such cases. Or how about bodega owners who kill armed robbers in their stores?

Such cases only infrequently wind in front of grand juries or trials. Instead, they are dropped as justifiable homicide. THAT's what Penny supporters thought should have happened.
