"President-elect Donald J. Trump spoke on Wednesday with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and during the call handed the phone to Elon Musk..."

Writes Maggie Haberman, in the NYT.
It is not clear what the three men discussed or whether they touched on any change in U.S. policy toward Ukraine in the wake of Mr. Trump’s election.

I'm going to guess it was a perfect phone call.

What, are they peering through the fog in the dark with binoculars looking in the window of Mar Lago?. "It's not clear if...."

We certainly need to break out of our current legacy newspeak silos. To me, "It's not clear..." means "We don't have the faintest clue, but we still want to appear connected, in the know, and relevant, so we'll say it isn't clear."

Well, it's clear to us, Maggie. One thing is, anyway.

Donald Trump had better get it through his THICK SKULL that the Democrats and the media want him DEAD. They will do everything in their power to topple his Presidency.

If Donald Trump and Elon Musk are talking to Putin, then the New York Times shouldn't ever know it occurred until Donald Trump tells them it occurred.

Get some operational security, you absolute clowns.

How does she know this (I can't read the article)? One thing I learned from Trump I, unless there is an explicit explanation of how they know something, it's probably a ie.

Donald Trump is surrounded by Michael Cohen types who are little more than spies for the New York Times and Deep State.

I can't for the life of me understand how his attempted murder didn't convince him that he needs better security.

Start acting like they're trying to kill you, Donald. Because they are.

Dixcus said...

They quoted an anonymous source. But that person wasn't in the room, so they couldn't secretly record what Trump was saying. The FBI also has his phones bugged and are leaking to the New York Times.

Wince said...

Guessing here, but maybe it was Zelensky who called Trump to congratulate him? And Musk was in the room by happenstance and Trump asked Zelensky if wanted to talk to Musk?

Wince said...

It's much more in Zelensky's interest to court the new team right away.

MadisonMan said...

And probably someone on Zelensky's end leaked the call's occurrence to the Times.

Drago said...

The Musk portion of the all, assuming the call actually occurred, and assuming the reports of Musk speaking to Zelensky actually occurred (no guarantee with the lying legacy press), more than likely dealt with Starlink (and its military mirror system) for communications by Ukrainian troops. A contract that was awarded to Starlink in June of last year:

From the WSJ:

"When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called to congratulate President-elect Donald Trump on his successful White House run, an unexpected visitor dropped in on the conversation: Elon Musk, who has been promised a role in the new administration.

Musk’s appearance on the call, which was first reported by Axios, wasn’t coordinated, according to people familiar with the conversation, but he happened to walk into the room right as Trump and Zelensky were speaking.

Trump acknowledged the billionaire owner of SpaceX, whose Starlink satellite service is used widely by Ukraine’s forces, and Musk said hello, prompting Zelensky to say hello back. Zelensky then noted he was using Starlink for the conversation, and Musk replied that he would keep sending more Starlink ground stations to Ukraine and then left the room.

Musk was not officially part of the call, the people familiar with the Trump-Zelensky discussion said, and the engagement lasted mere seconds. They described Musk’s remark about sending Starlink terminals more as friendly banter."

Dixcus said...

Read this twice:

"... a person familiar with the discussion said. It is not clear what the three men discussed."

They are quoting a single source.

That source, they claim, without evidence, is "familiar with the discussion."

That source cannot recount what was said.

They lied in the first sentence (that person is NOT familiar with the discussion) and then proved they're lying in the second sentence by admitting their source cannot tell them what was said and so isn't familiar with the discussion.

They can't even lie good.

It's OBVIOUS a source has access to Trump's call LOGS (inside a cell phone company, for example] ... but isn't able to tape his conversations to play for the media later.

They know WHO he is talking to, but not what he's saying. So they're CIA or FBI or more likely, an Apple Corp. employee.

WisRich said...

Musk was put on to remind Zelensky that 1) he controls Starlink and 2) He stands behind Trump.

RideSpaceMountain said...

He's never been in more danger Dixcus. Before Tuesday he was just an unconfirmed threat. Now he can actually do something. If he's seriously considering releasing JFK, Epstein, and Diddy files certain forces are not past finding another Thomas "Harvey" Crooks.

Peachy said...

Exactly. The corporate Democrat Media credibility is so badly damaged - their "newspeak" isn't working anymore.

Freder Frederson said...

I know you think you are being clever, but Trump and more so Musk, should not be talking to any national leaders without the express permission and knowledge of the current administration. When people wonder what Trump meant during the campaign that Russia wouldn't have invaded Ukraine or that October 7th wouldn't have happened, here is the news in Qatar:
Qatar has notified Hamas Officials staying in the Country, that they are no longer welcome and must immediately make preparations to depart.

Earlier in the open post, I mentioned that Luxemburg is ready to raise an army because they think Trump may weaken NATO. Except Luxemburg funding their own defense is what Trump wanted in first term, because it is what strengthens NATO and makes it less likely other nations, like Russia, will invade them. They shouldn't depend on the US to sail across the Atlantic in time to save their people.

Hassayamper said...

Dixcus said...

Trump should tell Zelensky that if he reads about ONE MORE phone call in the New York Times then Russia can have the Ukraine.

Quayle said...

Where is the evidence that any foreign policy was discussed? By handing the phone the Musk, it lends more credence that they indeed were just private citizens talking in their personal capacity to another person in the world. Musk has his own commercial dealings in that area, if I'm not mistaken.

In Defense of The Ukraine
1. The Ukraine has stripped out and weakened Russia's Army to the point that Russia is bringing in North Korean soldiers to do the fighting in the Kursk area. This has helped NATO.
2. The Biden administration built up a "combined arms" force in the Ukraine which however did not have an air element. The Ukraine has never complained but no one can think its Armed Forces liked that. So that shows the relationship is abusive.
3. The part of the Ukraine which Russia wants to take from the Ukraine contains almost all of the heavy industry in the Ukraine. So Russia is trying to turn the Ukraine into a colony by taking all its industry and leaving it a mere producer of raw materials.
5. So the Ukraine is between two abuserive powers. And in the US its main supporters are the rottenest group in America - Vindman, Bill Kristal, Liz Cheney et al. These are the only people The Ukraine has to defend it against the Biden administration and to make its case to the American people.
6. The Ukraine has helped us. And it has no one but Liz Cheney to help it.

I wish I lived in a better world.

Even if we didn't expect a massive electronic and surveillance intrusion continuing against the Trump Administration, which would be ludicrous, a conversation between Trump and Zelensky clearly can't be secure when one party has every incentive to leak it. If the AG thinks it merits a special prosecutor, we may have to hold hearings".

Biden was unable, or unwilling, to speak to Putin during his 3.5-year term in office. Probably reason why Ukraine war has dragged on for so long. Biden should have been impeached for sheer incompetence and dereliction of duty.

Harris also never attempted to speak to Putin, never attempted to perform any international (or national) diplomacy - not in her wheelhouse of talents. Harris should have been fired when she steadfastly refused her duties as "Border Czar", refused to visit border, refused to even minimally tackle a taskforce to address illegal migration explosion. Nope, she chose to go into deep denial, hide at her posh Navy Observatory VP home, sipping white wine and watching Netflix w/Dougie the Dog, until her late Aug 2024 call-to-duty from Pelosi - well we now know that abject failure to perform as VP magnificently backfired when she failed at presidential bid too.
