"I must admit I had misgivings about Trump and his election denial after Jan. 6, but..."

"... Nancy Pelosi’s hijacking of the House’s special investigating committee shifted my perspective.... [W]hy did she have to overreach? It didn’t seem fair. And the ensuing lawfare waged against him only strengthened my support for him, and my feeling that there was nothing the opposition wouldn’t do to get him. The negativity spread to the mainstream media, where coverage of Trump was wildly slanted.... Seniors get their news from cable and young people get it from podcasts and social media. Trump’s freewheeling three-hour interview with Joe Rogan helped him capture that vote. Kamala Harris evaded the Rogan invitation. She was a terrible candidate, and the conga line of celebrities her campaign relied on couldn’t obscure that fact. Some of the same Democrats who tried to tell us Biden wasn’t in decline then tried to tell us Harris was an exciting, transformative force. Please.... No matter how maddening Trump can be, the country needs him. The wind is truly at his back. The election was decided not just by MAGA rallygoers but also by millions of voters who’d simply had enough...."

Writes Maureen Dowd's brother Kevin, in "My Brother Is Doing the Trump Dance" (NYT).

You know who the biggest election deniers are? The ones who think that the elections were totes on the up and up, and so any investigation into them was a "threat to democracy," and demanding ID to vote is the worst threat of all.

Their message, when run through my decoder ring is this: "We need you guys to deny what logic tells you, so let's all agree that it's the other side doing it!"

I'm glad America's Greatest Mean Girl, who is still essentially in high school but with a witty writing style, has this brother in her life. There might still be hope. Let's hear more from Kevin!

Obvious to us on the right, but ignored by the left was the lawfare effect. "I hope the lawfare stops," was first election response of the most out-of-the-closet Trumpist I know.

The actions of the democrats after that election are those of a guilty and corrupt organization. Every accusation they make is a confession. In a different time, they would be swinging in the wind.........by the neck.

I think I've seen this dance before. My older sister (I'm the middle child) was a San Francisco based version of Maureen Dowd. Actually she wasn't as bad as Maureen--but her politics were. Sometimes younger brothers need to give a helping hand to--or at least toleration of--their older sisters.

Waiting for the Diddy party videos with Kamala Harris present, now that her awful post-election post-Hawaii video has gone viral.

Harris was a Potemkin candidate, more hollow, more vacuous, more venal than Biden. And if you read "Laptop from Hell" by Melinda Devine, you'll realize Biden presents a formidable challenge to beat in the corrupt and America's "stupid politician beauty-pageant" of elected official candidates.

No free looks at the propaganda left this month I guess, so I guess: somewhere Maureen posts her brother’s address and where his kids go to school?

The outraged comments to Kevin’s column are worth the price of a NYT subscription.

He should be ashamed of buying the coded ‘J6’ as a catch all for Trump is bad. Anyone using ‘J6’ in a context the propagandists invite us to use it can be immediately dismissed as not credible. There was that journalist doosh what still carries respect amongst some of you here what whipped it out in a sentence- immediately dead to me. I invite you to do the same- one of life’s great little hacks…

There's a really good way to ensure that Kamala Harris never runs again and that is for Democrats to call for her arrest: She participated in an illegal coup against a sitting President of the United States of America by threatening him if he didn't pull out of the race.

That's treason, and a felony, for which she should spend the rest of her life in prison.

Our founding fathers would have been stacking bodies by now.

[Kamala Harris] was a terrible candidate, and the conga line of celebrities her campaign relied on couldn’t obscure that fact.

A “conga line of celebrities,” some of whom appear to have been paid for their endorsement.

The election was decided not just by MAGA rallygoers but also by millions of voters who’d simply had enough.

In a nutshell, yes. Maybe we can even look forward to the end of the neverending culture wars, now that they’ve been reduced to a rebirth of antisemitism and allowing biological male rapists into women’s safe spaces.

Just wait until January 6th is properly investigated and we all find out what is obviously the case: The January 6th riots were a widespread conspiracy with numerous fed instigators in the crowd and key leadership purposely sabotaged law enforcement.

You have to understand the NYTs target audience and the goals of the organization.

The goals of the organization boil down to Carlos Slims daily propaganda. He needs the borders open and the US to regulate his domestic US competition out of existence while keeping tariffs/taxes on his products at 0.

There are a lot of idiots in here who still believe in free trade and keeping Carlos rich.

Yep. An honest to goodness Reichstag fire right here on our own soil. I expect that all of the details of the conspiracy will be made widely known within weeks after Trump takes office.

"I expect that all of the details of the conspiracy will be made widely known within weeks after Trump takes office."

I think it will be buried so deep that it'll never be seen.

The extra 6 million Kamala voters who materialized weeks after election night don't refute the claim of election theft, they reinforce it. Sure, there are some GOP Boomers claiming that "75 million people really are that dumb" but everyone else knows what time it is.

tcrosse said...

It matters less who set the Reichstag fire than the use the regime made of it. It and J6 were used as a pretext for some despotic actions.

The loser left and Never Trump right haven't learned a friggin' thing. They're still saying the same things they said in 2016, Trump won because Trump voters are stupid, ungrateful, racist and incapable of appreciating the moral and intellectual majesty of their betters.

Kevin seem pretty reasonable except he bought into the "election denial" nonsense. And has to qualify his support for Trump, "Oh, he can maddening". One must always make it clear, one isn't a MAGA fan. Y'know, one of those truck drivers or factory workers, or KKKrazzy Rightwingers, that one wouldn't want to go to lunch with.

RCOCEAN II said...

Trump won cause the economy. And because Kamala was a terrible candidate. The sad truth is the average "Swing voter" doesn't know or care about all the lawfare and abuse of power by Biden and Harris. "The normie Swing voter" hated the high prices, and didn't see Harris propose anything to make it better.

And how many people want to have a beer with kamala?

JIM said...

People are susceptible to manipulation when it's a steady feed. It's much easier politically to be a Democrat than a Republican in this country. Democrats have virtue and are defenders of democracy, Republicans are just icky, and Nazis. That people are rejecting the manipulation is encouraging.
