"Women are not without electrical power."

President Biden was attempting to reference this passage in the Dobbs opinion, which took abortion out of the realm of individual rights and put it in play in the political processes:
Our decision returns the issue of abortion to those legislative bodies, and it allows women on both sides of the abortion issue to seek to affect the legislative process by influencing public opinion, lobbying legislators, voting, and running for office. Women are not without electoral or political power. It is noteworthy that the percentage of women who register to vote and cast ballots is consistently higher than the percentage of men who do so. In the last election in November 2020, women, who make up around 51.5 percent of the population of Mississippi, constituted 55.5 percent of the voters who cast ballots.

Biden was making a good point but garbled it badly. He went on to say:

Women are not without electoral power or political power — no kidding. Republicans found out the power of women in 2022, and Trump is going to find out the power of women in 2024.

A very well-written line that had a hard time traveling from Teleprompter to vocalization.

By the way, Biden has found out the power of women in 2024. Nancy... Kamala... they ousted him.

I agree with Biden, women have electrical power as my wife has a whole house generator. I am lucky to be married to a strong, high voltage, pro-life woman.

gilbar said...

of course, he MEANS: SINGLE women aren't without power.
The democrat party would Prefer it if married women
(and married men, and single men)
had NO Power..
Because The Only Group that supports the democrat party is: Single Women.

Which raises the interesting question..
What (WHO?) will the Democrat Party use in a generation?

Democrats.. The New Shakers

One aspect of the Dobbs opinion is the recognition that there are women on both sides of the abortion debate. What I sense from Democrats is that women on the pro-life side are somehow tricked by men in their lives to support laws that restrict the use of their body, rather than those women having their own agency.

Temujin said...

It's true women are not without power. My wife, my sisters are powerful independent women. And I am lucky to be surrounded by this caliber of people. But I have to ask: Why, if the left is so adamant about the 'power of women', are are so many leftist women parading around in favor of Islam and Hamas, which would render them chattel?
Someone explain it to me.

Succinctly put. If I still believed in irony I would point out the anti-democratic behind-the-scenes machinations of the erroneously named Democrat Party. But that's not the point I'm here to make, for I am interested in what Sherlock Holmes called "the dog that doesn't bark."

The dog in question here is the Big Media who have not once questioned the cover story about Biden "voluntarily" stepping aside and "handing the baton" to Kamala. Even though Pelosi comes close to admitting the strongarming in recent interaction with reporters, and the more recent the "interview" the more blatant she makes it, the dogs refuse to chase that story, sniff out the bones, pounce on the Pulitzer. No, the DNC Media dogs have been trained to obey their master, lay down and roll over on command.

Obedience, not truth, is their highest calling. Good doggies!

Well, the entire speech was cribbed from his other speeches, just like Harris's identical rally speeches and certain lines of Trump's rally shtick (I hesitate to call his two-hour comedy routines "speeches"), so I guess this line was notable in not having been his.

But isn't it an admission against interest? If women have such tremendous electoral power, what is the danger to the "right" to abort a fetus up to 39+ weeks? If that's what we all want, I mean.

Oh. I suppose the problem is that not all women in every state think that's a good "right" to have or exercise. So we need to settle it at the federal level, where the desires of coastal female college graduates (and the men who want to have consequence-free sex with them) are most likely to rule the day.

Biden thought that he could abort the baby... "burden", cannibalize her profitable parts, sequester her carbon, and have her, too. But Biden is no Obama. And the progressive religion of ancient cults will hold its human rites. Karma-lic irony.

That once she left the room Nancy Pelosi would be in to speak candidly with him. And, Kamala added, that "the tweet endorsing me has already been sent under your X account." (At this point he was still unaware he had sent the "I'm dropping out" letter via X two days prior.)

And why do women have electrical power? Mostly because of the work of men.

But while men build the power grid, it is the female the holds all the power when it is up and running....or people die, shockingly

While your at it, point out the horrors of male and female electrical plugs. The male galavanting around using what ever female its near. The female confined to the home, to wait for some random male to come by and rudely plug itself into her.
Of course, as in much of life, the female has all the power in the relationship.

planetgeo said...

Inga, congrats on being so charged up and buzzing with all that electrical power, especially since it's hard to imagine you being plugged in all that often these days. It's not that Biden stumbles over a word; we all do; it's the way he catches himself. He doesn't correct himself quickly and drive on to his point; he looks around like a third-grader who is mindlessly reading and has skipped a line and has to correct himself. The third-grader works away at the correction and then mindlessly continues his reading. And that's what Biden does as well - only he's the President. It's the President functioning like third grader.
