Or are you seriously arguing that a woman should not be allowed to prefer Jesus over gay everything?

120,000 feet up is 22 miles. A geostationary satellite at that height -- assuming it's over the Equator -- will be moving at 1000+ mph, creating a constant sonic boom.

Its so much worse than that.

LLR-democratical And Violent Homosexual Rage Rape Fantasist Chuck just today literally implied Alito might want to overturn Brown vs Board of Education!

No smear against a conservative is a smear too far for our faux "republican" Chuck...as Chuck proudly proclaimed on this very blog.

Whatever the dem/far left talking points of the day happen to be, Chuck is always there to advance those talking points like the "good" little democratical NPC that he has always been...along with his fellow LLR-democratical Brigade pals Rich and lonejustice.

Almost as if they have been "assigned" to Althouse blog...

Drago said...

Vance: "Awwww, Chuck is super super upset that someone doesn't like rainbow everything shoved down their throat"

LLR-democratical And Violent Rage Rape Fantasist Chuck long ago came out strongly for the Total Pro-Groomer Agenda including pornographic books made available to young school children, Drag Queen Story Hours for young children, criticism of parents who object to such things, etc.

Basically, once again, as always, a full Chuck embrace of the farthest of the far left democratical policy preferences.

And given Chuck's long running and bizarre obsessive fixation on the young children of conservative politicians, a very uncomfortable picture emerges...

Feel free to draw obvious and inescapable conclusions.

Trump received special dispensation to hold [his probation] meeting virtually and was in Palm Beach, Fla. He was also allowed to have one of his lawyers appear alongside him, an exception granted to him by Justice Juan Merchan, who oversaw the trial.

Legal groups and public defenders complained that the fact that his lawyer was allowed to attend the meeting and that he was allowed to meet virtually with the probation office amounted to special treatment.

In a statement, a group of public defender groups including the Legal Aid Society and the Bronx Defenders said that the exceptions made for Trump “are not typically afforded to low-income defendants.”

“All people convicted of crimes should be allowed counsel in their probation interview, not just billionaires,” the groups said in the statement. “This is just another example of our two-tiered system of justice. Presentencing interviews with probation officers influence sentencing, and public defenders are deprived of joining their clients for these meetings. The option of joining these interviews virtually is typically not extended to the people we represent either.”

Martha Stewart was required to appear at a federal courthouse in New York City to meet with a probation officer in advance of her June 17, 2004 sentencing. Her defense attorney did not have access to the probationary meeting in connection with her sale of shares in a biotechnology company. She was sentenced to five months in prison and five months of home detention and was fined $195,000 ($325,000 in 2024) despite no prior criminal misbehavior - nor did she verbally spread lies and even threaten the judge, the judge's daughter, the court staff, the prosecution witnesses, and the jurors.

You can block off streets, vandalize statues, and assault park police with no consequences. Can't a cop pull you off a statue you're vandalizing and arrest you? But if you leave skid marks on a pride mural you get arrested and face felony charges or if you protest at an abortion clinic you face 10 years???

Ha ha. I see what you're saying.

He's been a reader of this blog the whole 20 years and has quoted me, naming me, many many times. It's perfectly fine with me if he propagates "anodyne" without giving me credit. If everyone had to credit me to use "anodyne" to describe Alito's remarks about ideologues not compromising, then it wouldn't spread so well. But other people might think they need to credit Taranto for that mot juste. Don't do that, people! Just take "anodyne" and run with it!

Gravity and friction would soon interfere with its orbit. 22 miles isn't high enough. Otherwise Baumgartner would still be up there.
Minimum height is around 22,000 miles.

22 miles is in the stratosphere, maybe above the middle of it. Wikipedia has a graph of Speed of Sound as a function of height (22 mi = 35 km; link). Would you be able to hear the boom? Well, that would be an interesting experiment.

Beaneater said...

Whiskeybum – It's not that *nothing* can orbit lower than 22,000 miles altitude. It's just that nothing *geostationary* can orbit at less than (or more than) ~22,200 miles.

Rusty – I think that MadisonMan is saying that a "satellite" could indeed hover over one spot on the equator... as long as it was also under constant powered flight at over 1000 mph. Which is really stretching the definition of "satellite".

rhhardin – The fact that the "rare low altitude geostationary satellite" is over *Tibet* (~30º N latitude) is a detail I missed at first, and which makes this an ultra-rare satellite!

Now the corrupt liar soviet left are going after Alito for this:

“On one side or the other — one side or the other is going to win. I don’t know. I mean, there can be a way of working — a way of living together peacefully, but it’s difficult, you know, because there are differences on fundamental things that really can’t be compromised. They really can’t be compromised. So it’s not like you are going to split the difference.”

BTW, if anyone was wondering why Chuckles yesterday implied Alito wants to overturn Brown vs Board of Education-Topeka, its because that was an "official" (coordinated) meme coming out of the unified democratical swamp to attack Alito.

Joy Reid was pushing it too.

LLR-democratical Chuck is never far away in rhetoric from his political soul mate in Joy Reid.

Read this verbatim transcript (posted on X) and tell me whether it’s from an escaped mental patient or the GOP nominee for the President of the United States.

“. . . I say what would happen if the boat sank from its weight and you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery is now underwater and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there. By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately. You notice that? A lot of shark. I watched some guys justifying it today. Well, they weren’t really that angry. They bit off the young ladies leg because of the fact that they were, they were not hungry, but they misunderstood what, who she was. These people are cray. He said there’s no problem with sharks they just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming. Now really got decimated and other people too. A lot of shark attacks. So I said, so there’s a shark 10 yards away from the boat. 10 yards over here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking. Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted because, I will tell you, he didnt know the answer. He said, you know, nobody’s ever asked that question. I said, I think it’s a good question. I think there’s a lot of electric current coming through that water, but you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted? I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark.”

Police looking for potentially armed Madison homicide suspect in Randall Park neighborhood

"People are being asked to stay away from the Randall Park neighborhood in Eau Claire as they look for a man wanted for homicide.

Eau Claire Police Chief Matt Rokus told media Tuesday they are looking for Jerome Jacobs, who is wanted by the Madison Police Department for homicide.

Rokus said Jacobs was seen by police in Eau Claire but when police tried to stop him he crashed his car and ran away. He is potentially armed.

Rokus did not say what homicide Jacobs is wanted for, but said it is not the recent rooftop shooting over this past weekend.

Jacobs was seen wearing all blue clothing. Rokus said not to approach him if seen, and to contact authorities immediately at 715-839-4972.
