One thing about discovering the work of artists you are barely acquainted with is that you discover what you like rather than what the artist's fans like. Coming in cold to an album via streaming music a decade later means that you make your own choices. I had liked a song that Aimee Mann ('Til Tuesday singer from the 1980s) sang on Susanna Hoffs' album Bright Lights last year, so it's not surprising that some of her songs started to pop up on Discovery Mixes, and this was one of them. Of the other eleven songs on the album, every single one was more popular with her listeners than this one, but it appealed to me. Go figure! The album is described as pop-rock, but this is probably the most 'rock' song. There's a lot going on besides the snarling guitars.
