Quoting from XTwitter: This is the first AI response that lead to the discovery and now academic studies on 100 volunteers of all ages a and walks of life:
“This phenomena seems to be real and it seems a significant portion of the global population reports a lack of clear memories from 2020 to 2022. This sense of general feelings, could be attributed to several factors. Here's a perspective:
**Unprecedented Global Stress and Anxiety**: The period from 2020 to 2022 was marked by extraordinary global stress due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The constant state of anxiety and uncertainty could have impacted the way people processed and stored memories. High stress levels are known to affect the hippocampus, the part of the brain involved in forming new memories.
**Disruption of Routine and Monotony**: The pandemic led to lockdowns, social distancing, and a break from normal routines. This monotony could make it harder to differentiate and remember specific events, as many days may have felt similar. Unique experiences often make memories more vivid, and their absence can lead to a blur in recollection.
**Digital Overload**: With the shift to online platforms for work, education, and socializing, there was an overwhelming increase in screen time. This digital overload might have contributed to cognitive fatigue, making it harder to form and retain detailed memories.
**Emotional Memory Processing**: Emotions play a crucial role in how we remember events. The period was emotionally charged, and for many, the dominant emotions were negative (fear, sadness, loneliness). This can lead to a situation where the emotional context is remembered (like a feeling of unease or sadness), but the specific details of events are less clear.
**Collective Trauma**: The shared experience of a global crisis can lead to a form of collective trauma, which impacts memory processing. The mind may unconsciously choose to 'forget' or blur certain memories as a coping.
In the data I have processed this period has the most pronounced and extreme example of group amnesia. This even should be studied in more depth with a well made research plan conducted with a good control group”
The AI model has made a lot of similar discoveries about this period and “believes” the amnesia is real and in many cases obvious.

"In 1241–1242, the kingdom [Hungary] received a major blow with the Mongol (Tatar) invasion. Up to half of Hungary's population of 2 million were victims of the invasion. King Béla IV let Cumans and Jassic people into the country, who were fleeing the Mongols. Over the centuries, they were fully assimilated into the Hungarian population.
After the Mongols retreated, King Béla ordered the construction of hundreds of stone castles and fortifications, to defend against a possible second Mongol invasion. The Mongols returned to Hungary in 1285, but the newly built stone-castle systems and new tactics (using a higher proportion of heavily armed knights) stopped them. The invading Mongol force was defeated near Pest by the royal army of King Ladislaus IV. As with later invasions, it was repelled handily, the Mongols losing much of their invading force."

It does take a special type of stupid to believe in homeopathy or crystal healing. I live near Sedona and sometimes browse the racks of tourist attraction cards that companies pay to display in gas stations. It is eye opening to say the least. A person with a flair for the dramatic and no personal ethics could make real money from these deluded fools!
About 30yrs ago, my daughter(almost 3) had severe ear infections. She’d get a round of antibiotics, be healthy for a little while and get another ear infection (or double ear infection).
I was working for an organic dairy farm and the wife was into homeopathic remedies for ailments for the cows b/c- no antibiotics. Follow? She kept urging me to go to a(n) homeopath. Eeeh, not my thing.
When my 2yr old got ear infections while being treated for ear infections- a maintenance dose, it’s called- I thought: what do I have to lose?
We went to Burlington for the appointment, the doc gave her about 10 little, round white pills that looked like cake decorating beads… she chewed them up & we went home. If I recall, it was mercury. If I dig deeper, it was ppm mercury. Minute as to be almost nonexistent.
Cured.
One minor ear issue at 17.
Idk if it’s completely BS, Crack. It’s completely a racket(in my eyes) w/every money-grabbing expedition. I got lucky. I was thrilled my kid didn’t need tubes in her ears- which was the next step. I don’t need a chest filled/everything from Aconite to Coffee Cruda to whatever the hell’s available, but this country supplied a free-will solution to my end-of-the-rope problem.
As far as I’m concerned, big Pharma is racketeering, too.
Thought I’d fess up. For the record and before the name-calling: I am not a complete idiot…
The climate hysterics CLIMATE CLOCK give us less than 7 years to keep the temperature rise less than 1.5C. Then we're doomed! They say we might as well bend over and kiss our ass goodbye! They say "so as to avoid the most dangerous consequences of global warming." But, they don't say what these consequences are.
Is it the melting ice caps? Melting Greenland glaciers? Disappearing Northern Hemisphere snow cover? How about increasing hurricane intensity and frequency? None of that is happening. All of these are either in their historic ranges. The NH snow cover is above is 1-sigma upper expected range.
CO2 is not a pollutant, it's plant food. To say otherwise, as them anti-scientists of the Global Warming Hoax say, is one of the neobarbarians Big Lies.
@farmgirl - It's pretty simple logic. Homeopathy is the practice of diluting a (potential) medicine to such a degree that there are no remaining medicine molecules in the portion you ingest. That can not work. You are not taking anything but water (in the case of diluting the medicine in water).
In your story, "If I recall, it was mercury. If I dig deeper, it was ppm mercury. Minute as to be almost nonexistent.". I don't think that's homeopathy (although the guy can call it anything he wants). In real homeopathy, the medicine actually IS nonexistent. By design.

On February 8, 2007, Oprah Winfrey greeted her television audience by brandishing a DVD and asking, “Have you heard about it?” The DVD was “The Secret,...”
Oprah Winfrey,...promotes the paranormal, psychic powers, new age spiritualism, conspiracy theories, quack celebrity diets, past life regression, angels, ghosts, alternative therapies like acupuncture and homeopathy, anti-vaccination, detoxification, vitamin megadosing, and virtually everything that will distract a human being from making useful progress and informed decisions in life. Although much of what she promotes is not directly harmful, she offers no distinction between the two, leaving the gullible public increasingly and incrementally injured with virtually every episode.
- Skeptoid Podcast, 2008
Winfrey was mentioned at a recent national cult conference in Connecticut, according to Philadelphia-area expert David Clark. A former Bible-based cult member who later worked as an exit counselor, Clark said attendees recommended Winfrey get cult-awareness training so she would be attuned to how people can be brainwashed.
"My main concern is Oprah's long history with New Age people," Clark said.
Clark remembers Winfrey criticizing brainwashing early in her TV career. Since then, he said, she's been associated with New Age spirituality gurus whose messages and tactics have some cult-like qualities.
Guests who have appeared on Oprah to promote mystical philosophies include Gary Zukav, who offers "spiritual guidance," and self-proclaimed "lifestyle-makeover expert" Cheryl Richardson. Winfrey has also been aligned with New Age-religion author Marianne Williamson and celebrities who promote similar beliefs, such as actress Shirley MacLaine and spiritualist Deepak Chopra. "She definitely has a New Age cocoon of sorts," Szimhart said of Winfrey.
One of Oprah's most powerful visual metaphors is how she utterly transforms her appearance--her hairstyle, mode of dress, type of jewelry, even her manner of speaking--from day to day. It is her clever, dramatic embodiment of the possibility of personal change and growth. But ability to change is also a capacity for accommodation. It hints at a personality that will 'stretch' itself in any rewarding direction, unconstrained by truthfulness or consistency. Unconstrained by the constraint of character, you might say.
The name Oprah gave to her production company--her business--is Harpo Productions, which is 'Oprah' spelled backward. That is exactly right. Winfreyism is the expression of an immensely reassuring and inspiring message that has, without doubt, helped millions of people carry on with their lives. And it is also an empty, cynical, icily selfish outlook on life that undercuts its own positive energy at every turn. On her way to Auschwitz, sitting in her hotel room in Krakow, thinking about the masses of people who were murdered in the death camp, Oprah wrote in O, 'I have never felt more human.' Her empathy and moral growth seem to require human sacrifice. Yet watching Oprah does fill you with hope. It also plunges you into despair. She has become something like America itself."
Good for her, a leader in the black community and all around one of USA most generous people.

"Oprah used to give entire audience expensive gifts. And, Oprah spelled backwards is Harpo. Coincidence?"
"The portrait that emerges of Oprah is of a rather sinister figure,...and what of Okrant’s conclusions about the talk-show host? In her book they are mostly hedged, infuriatingly so at times, although she is willing to say that, 'Oprah devalues women by focusing so much on our bodies,' and that lessons on spirituality are best not delivered in a format that requires the funding of commercial advertisers. Okrant also expresses frustration about Oprah’s lectures on saving the planet, or vegan cleanse diets, when she flies by private jet and employs a personal chef. Ironically enough, these are peeves shared by a good number of Republicans, albeit for different reasons. But what about Oprah’s successes? What about the advice that’s actually worth following? Complimenting her husband was a good idea, says Okrant, and the turkey burgers were delicious, if expensive. Alas, the S-shaped stool proved to be more troublesome. 'You have to eat in a certain way,' she advises. 'Lots of fibre and water and fish oils. For a while I was just getting "C" shapes, although even that I was pretty proud of.'
But did it ever happen? Did she ever produce a bowel movement worthy of her Best Life? 'I made one,' she sighs. 'It was a good day.'"
-- Chris Ayres, on Robyn Okrant's new memoir, Living Oprah - the story of how, for one year, Okrant did whatever the NewAge talk show host declared - only to have it all come down to this, in The Times Online.
Oprah culture. It's a culture where superstition is 'spirituality,' illiteracy is 'authenticity,' and schoolmarm moralism is 'character.' It's a culture where people apologize by saying, 'I'm sorry you took offense at what I said,' and forgive by saying, 'I'm not angry at you anymore, I'm grateful to you for teaching me not to trust shitheads like you.' And that's the part that should bother us most: the diminishing, even implicit mocking, of genuine goodness, and of authentic spiritual concerns and practices. Engagement, curiosity and active awe are in short supply these days, and it's sickening to see them devalued and misrepresented."
"Something sure worked for my kid. And since she was so young, it wasn’t her subconscious mind."
No, but it does sound like a fairly common phenomena: the self-correcting childhood illness. Here's another one: giving homeopathy the credit, because it was something you actively did to address the issue. That's how people are.
"Who fucking CARES about Oprah? Seriously? Why would anyone care what she says or does?"
I just posted about her responsibility for 4 deaths, 600 rapes, the spreading of misinformation AND the promotion of quackery, but you STILL ask this? Are you crazy?

I live near Sedona and sometimes browse the racks of tourist attraction cards that companies pay to display in gas stations. It is eye opening to say the least. A person with a flair for the dramatic and no personal ethics could make real money from these deluded fools!
Re: homeopathy

My guess is that they’re already dead. That’s why Hamas is balking at releasing any more. And I’m guessing the Israelis know that.

Oprah used to give entire audience expensive gifts. And, Oprah spelled backwards is Harpo. Coincidence?
@farmgirl - It's pretty simple logic. Homeopathy is the practice of diluting a (potential) medicine to such a degree that there are no remaining medicine molecules in the portion you ingest. That can not work. You are not taking anything but water (in the case of diluting the medicine in water).
In your story, "If I recall, it was mercury. If I dig deeper, it was ppm mercury. Minute as to be almost nonexistent.". I don't think that's homeopathy (although the guy can call it anything he wants). In real homeopathy, the medicine actually IS nonexistent. By design.

And then, when the cameras were off, she told them they'd have to pay tax on it. Can't pay? No prize for you.

WE'VE BEEN OVER ALL THIS:

No, but it does sound like a fairly common phenomena: the self-correcting childhood illness. Here's another one: giving homeopathy the credit, because it was something you actively did to address the issue. That's how people are.
But it's impossible for homeopathy to have had any effect on it. I also thought about those poor animals, owned by that woman you knew, unable to tell her she's not helping them. Animals suffer for years that way.
I feel frustrated that we live in a society that allows for this kind of chicanery to exist. It's treated as wise and unique (mostly by women out to challenge the world) when it's mind-numbingly conventional.
