I thought I'd try Kroger pickup to avoid spending time in the grocery stores, why pick up even mild covid or flu if you don't have to. So I set up a pickup but it won't let me place the order. I called the suggested help number: they won't let you place a pick up order unless you establish a regular pattern of in-store shopping first. So to avoid flu you have to use the store for a few months first.
Sleepy Joe getting crib notes for tonight's dinner, at least he's got the balls to go and take the abuse, Not a pussy like Pence (Pence's former bosses' term of endearment for him) Gonna be a laugh fest for all except Don who will probably be doing marathon TRUTH CENTRAL tweets. So I haven't seen very much discussion anywhere, and none here, on the Irani seizure of a Marshall Islands flagged tanker with a US destination.
This seizure is far worse then the initial reprots that it was seized indicates.
First- the seizure was witnessed by two USN vessels that did- nothing. They didn't interfere. At first you may think, well, they couldn't - it was a flagged under the Marshall Islands flag, not the USA flag. Ah- that's what makes the US lack of action relly bad. Really, really bad. Seriously bad.
China has been working very hard to expand it's sphere of influence in the Pacific. The Marshall Islands are independent but in a Compact of Free Association with the United States. (From meory- that may not be the exact words.) Under that compact- the USA is responsible for all territorial defense of th Marshall Islands- including defense and protection of Marshall Island flagged vessels. And USN vessels that witnessed the seizure did- nothing, with a direct attack on a vessel that the United States has the legal responsability to defend. An attack on a Marshall Islands flag ship is identical to an attack on a US flagged ship- and is an Act of War against the USA. And so far from our state department under Brain Addled Biden- I believe the Iranians have received a strongly worded letter instead of destruction of any of their naval vessels or bases. Which is the proper response.
SO when China makes it's next approach to any Pacific island nation- "Hey, look. The USA is a aper tiger. They have no intention of actually protecting you. We will." That won't- but they haven't demonstrated that fact. We are supposed to- and didn't...

Hysterical (SWIDT?) article at Slate.com agitating for "menstrual leave" for people who have painful periods. The article does discuss the possibility that no business would ever hire a person assigned female at birth if menstrual leave becomes a thing, but she waves it off with an assertion that it was tried somewhere and all was good. A pleasantly large portion of the comments there discuss reality, although there are some that assert that men have periods too, some of them painful. Slate.com is a reliable window into the leftosphere. Its authors and ~95% of its commentors start from an assumption that anyone who votes Republican is evil, abortion is no more of a big deal than a hernia repair, and there is no problem that cannot be solved with appropriate government intervention. They also uniformly believe that homosexuals, immigrants, and black people are incapable of taking care of themselves without condescending assistance from white people with Masters degrees. Between abortion and voluntary sterilization, their time is limited, fortunately.
Lemsplainer: If you don’t talk to costumer/passenger there’s a less chance the driver will be tipped. I know because I ran an experiment as a shared ride driver myself. One day I would talk and another day I would not. The days I talked I would get more tips. The reverse was true when I didn’t talk. This driver probably knows this and now he might be fearful of engaging in chitchat ever again, which is sad because we’re social creatures and if we don’t nurture that aspect of ourselves, we’re going to revert back to a new version of the dark ages when the assumption was that everybody was out to hit you over the head and take your stuff. That’s how the handshake came about btw. It showed the other person ‘I don’t have a weapon, see’. Handshake.

The first two paragraphs: Not long ago I was writing in defense of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. When she first entered Congress as an inner-city twenty something who’d knocked off longtime insider Joe Crowley with a Sandersian policy profile, her own party’s establishment ridiculed her as a lefty Trump. Nancy Pelosi scoffed that her win just meant voters “made a choice in one district,” so “let’s not get carried away.” Ben Ritz, director of the Progressive Policy Institute, an offshoot of the old Democratic Leadership Council, groused, “Oh, please, she just promised everyone a bunch of free stuff.”
This was before AOC decided to be the next Pelosi, instead of the next Sanders. The above sit-down on MSNBC shows the transformation. Having shed the mantle of an outsider who shook the old guard with online savvy, she appeared in soft light for a softball “interview,” by a literal Biden official (Inside With Jen Psaki is as close as you can get to a formal dissolution of the line between White House and media). In it, she seemed to argue for the outlaw of Fox News. “We have very real issues with what is permissible on air,” she said, adding people like Tucker Carlson are “very clearly” guilty of “incitement to violence,” a problem in light of “federal regulation in terms of what’s allowed on air and what isn’t.”

The science is settled? These studies on the differences between male and female brains contradict each other; one saying there are no differences except size; the other that transgender people have brains like their desired gender. This accords with my historical memory that we had just decided that men and women were not different when we began to decide that they were different but one could become the other.
Transgender brains are more like their desired gender from an early age May 24, 2018, European Society of Endocrinology Summary: Brain activity and structure in transgender adolescents more closely resembles the typical activation patterns of their desired gender, according to new research. The findings suggest that differences in brain function may occur early in development and that brain imaging may be a useful tool for earlier identification of transgenderism in young people
