"We are discussing with them, you know, obviously, there’s a group called the Secret Service that’s involved now. I mean, this is going to be something we’ve never seen the likes of."

Said Trump's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, quoted in "'Shocked' Donald Trump will face 34 counts of business fraud after NYC indictment: lawyer Joe Tacopina" (NY Post).

34 counts?

“We now heard 34 counts," the lawyer said, "And I guarantee you it’s going to be 34 counts when we find out next week. They’ll take each check and make that a count, perhaps, and that’s how they’ll do it because the checks are paid to Cohen."

Tacopina plans to win the case. He says, "We will humiliate them, and they will pay the price."

Didn't they already make claims about when they would be indicted that were wrong?

Yeah, let's trust the people already shown to have bad information.

Hope Trump's lawyer knows what he's talking about. The time for bluster has long past.

I saw that. I also watched a good bit of MSNBC last night and this morning. For many of these people, yesterday was the happiest day of their lives. The White Whale was finally captured.

One theme of the Left is that this indictment proves that we are a nation of laws and not of men. Just ignore the fact that the NYC DA apparently ignored the statute of limitations to Indict Trump. For the Left, it is all personal and about using lawfare to get Trump.

As an aside, the Nebraska Jacobins were upset that their front page NYT story was overshadowed by Trump. The daughter of Sen Megan Hunt is 12 year old Ashley Homan. At age 10, she realized she was a boy. Her mother has been working for a year to get the medical services to change the gender of her daughter. The daughter is on Medicaid and the state of NE won’t pay.

The motion to dismiss will make at least the following arguments:
1) The New York statute that makes it a crime to hide another crime through false corporate bookkeeping only refers to hiding a state law crime.
2) If the the New York law refers to federal crimes, that’s an unconstitutional infringement on federal authority.
3) In any event, the federal campaign finance law does not require that payments to mistresses be made only out of donated campaign funds where the candidate has dual motives, both personal and political.
4) Trump could not have possibly known that the campaign finance law required that Stormy be paid only out of donated campaign funds since (a) the statute does not specify how to resolve dual motive cases, (b) no Court has ever upheld in a contested matter the prosecution’s theory about how to resolve dual motive cases, (c) Bragg’s theory is contrary to the long standing interpretation of the Federal Election Commission about dual motive payments, and (d) Bragg’s theory is contrary to the position DOJ took in prosecuting Senator John Edwards.

I’m not a litigator let alone a criminal defense lawyer, but I think that #3 is the strongest argument. I didn’t list the selective prosecution arguments because those are losers.

Lol. What a fucking joke our country has become. Neolibs and Neocons are in complete control, working hand in hand, and the only difference between them and fascism is that they don't wear the Hugo Boss uniforms, though who knows what they wear behind closed doors?

Here is a long video that goes a long way to look past the propaganda and unpack the struggle that is actually happening in the world. tl;dw? Your vote won't change anything, and you may as well start prepping now, because the people who matter are divided between Cloward-Piven types looking to force a collapse that will make 2008 look like a minor blip —The Great Reset (Clinton and Biden are in this camp), in order for them to take complete control, and traditional types looking to fight this outcome, Trump is on that side, as is Wall Street, but he can't win, the Cloward-Piven types own the courts, have intimidated the SCOTUS and the press, so your vote doesn't matter any more than your comments on social media. To be fair, the guy in this video says that the outcome of this struggle is in doubt, and that traditional American values can still win the day, but I am far too black-pilled to believe that.

Oh yea, and the Ukraine war is about keeping Europe out of any economic alliances with Russia (Nordstream) or China, (direct rail link from China to Europe that must pass through Ukraine, creates an enormous economic rival to the US, and is out of reach of the US Navy, which can control trade by ship anywhere in the world. This cannot be allowed to happen. The rest of the divisive phantasmagoria that they are feeding us is just to keep us split, powerless, and easy to rule.

Russel Brand has a shorter, more entertaining video, that does a pretty good job laying out other aspects of what is going on too. Shorter RB, we better get over our cultural differences and join to fight these people, or we are going to end up crushed under the boot of their power for generations.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drIYG3J86tI. (F*cking Hell, What's going on in France?)

A cynical reader of the news might say that this is coming out now to distract from the impending fall of Bakhmut, where re-enforcement is cut off, and Russia is taking several blocks every day, and which was so hard to take because it was so well situated for defense, having so many roads into it making it so difficult to finally encircle and prevent re-enforcements and fresh supplies from being thrown into the battle. The Alamo was a group of guys left alone, Bakhmut has been constantly re-enforced and re-supplied, there is no other city standing between Russian control of the Donbas anywhere near as well situated for defense.

For me? I am going back to working on my novel, and looking for a small farm to buy. It's amazing how much I can write every day if I stay away from Social Media. I won't be reading any replies to this, BTW. Not going to get sucked into pointless debate, and am just leaving this out there for anybody who might also be thinking the the transparent lies they are telling us are just intended to hide a larger agenda.

The Left has used pretzel logic to assert that attacks on the DA are racist and antisemitic. Trump apparently wrote that Bragg “is an animal and that he is backed by George Soros.”

Until yesterday, I didn’t know Soros was Jewish. I just knew that Soros is a billionaire who has spent millions on progressive causes and to elect Dems.

I suspect part of the fun Trump and his team are inflicting on NYC is if you think Trump is going to either be put in "holding" or strip searched; it will happen with Secret Service agents present. Trump is not going to be Epsteined, while he plays this game. And I expect him to play along for the reasons mentioned by the lawyer. The DA will be humiliated, if not in the initial trial, then in the eventual appeals.

But the rubicon is already crossed. I'm seeing the silver lining. No longer will politicians get to enjoy their retirement and payments for services rendered. Instead, they can face investigations and the prospect of spending their final years in prison. Remember lefties, "no one is above the law" was your phrase.

Assume the Secret Service was involved back with VP Agnew. Secret Service has been accused in past with interfering with service of process of civil summonses and complaints.

In 49 BC Julius Caesar was going to leave his army in Gaul and return to Rome. Caesar was wildly popular and would surely be elected consul. The trouble was the Roman elites, the Senatorial class, hated Julius Caesar.

They had an idea. They would bring Caesar up on criminal charges and strip him of his property and freedom.

They were very proud of themselves for thinking this up. "What's he gonna do?", they imagined, "He's up there on the other side of the Rubicon."

A few years later, all of the Roman elite, all of the people you've heard of from that era - Brutus, Cassius, Cato, Cicero, Pompey, Mark Antony, even Cleopatra and Caesar himself - were all dead. And so was the Republic.

34 counts? Bragg doubles down on the prosecutorial chickenshit doctrine.

The idea is to overwhelm the defendant and coerce a plea. The problem is the evidence where the counts are in multiples of ten often overwhelm jurors. But then it's New York. Like DC, the evidence probably doesn't matter.

I never understand this reaction: A leftwing politican or judge does something wrong and its "Our country is a joke".

The problem isn't "The country". And "we" are not the problem. Its the Leftwing. Its the Democrats. And GOPe. Some people don't believe in all that "Stuff and nonsense" about political Idelology but the people who are doing this DO BELIEVE in it. They are all on Team Left, Team Uniparty, and Team Democrat. And They are NOT stupid. They are NOT confused. They are NOT "snowflakes".

On twitter, several rightwing commentators were talking about "get yourself a cabin in the woods" and "We're now a banana republic". Well OK. What about fighting the Left instead of throwing up your hands or running away? What's even more absurd, is the Left NEVER reacts like this. They know who the enemy is. And they fight.

All true, a cautionary tale from history. There are two problems. First the Left is remarkably ignorant of history. Secondly, their precise aim is to destroy the republic.

The problem is that the left controls too much of the battle space right now. I think that any sentient being would see how ridiculous all this is but 50% of the country listens to the left and believes what they say. The "they" is only about 20% of the Democrat Party but they are in control. Here in Arizona the voting machines in Republican districts all stopped working the morning of election day. Nobody seems to be interested in how that could have happened. That includes the McCain Republicans in Phoenix.

If he can get a change in venue to Philadelphia or maybe just Port Jervis; otherwise the Hudson isn't the Delaware.
