Note that in the mentality of Alvin Bragg, Stormy Daniels did not commit a crime worthy of prosecution when she blackmailed or extorted Donald Trump, but Trump did commit a crime worthy of prosecution when he paid her because he was being blackmailed. I think that, to the average American, this is an absurd argument — and perhaps the average Manhattan juror will agree.

As far as Trump, I fully expect him to walk away from this with no penalty, and if it ever reaches a courtroom, he will humiliate the prosecution. This only makes Trump more of a martyr. I think it greatly increases the chances of Trump winning in 2024. I say that as someone who thinks Trump is too old and shouldn't run again. Thank you for laying out in one concise paragraph just how pathetic and petty all of this is.

I'm old enough to remember that the raid on Mar a Lago was absolutely necessary because of the vital national interests that were endangered by the absolute top secret nature of the documents that Trump allegedly smuggled out of the White House. And I am truly impressed with the airtight secrecy that the court and special master have maintained over the nature and substance of the documents, despite intense press scrutiny.
