She painted every frame individually in oil-paint, a labourious process which took many months."
I was alerted to the existence of that new video by the new Wings of Pegasus analysis of "I'm Only Sleeping" on the new "special" edition of "Revolver." Wings take a strong position against pitch correction and explains why it's not an insult to say that John was singing "flat": "Instead of saying 'flat, flat, flat,' we should be saying 'emotion, emotion, emotion'...."

Very cool.
Amazing and beautiful!
I like watching Wings of Pegasus' videos with the sound off. I believe that Fil would be a perfect case study for how to read expressions of the human face. Just by watching him, you can tell if he is speaking of the past or of the future; if he is speaking of a hypothetical thing or of a thing in reality. An expert could learn a lot by reading him.
Always liked that song and a pleased that they didn't mess with the pitch on the re-release. Great explanatory video, to boot.
Fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Was watching a thing about Autotune and one of the sound engineers that started using it initially (one of some repute) was saying that vocal tracks always too multiple takes because everyone sings flat. Except Bowie, he could get it usually in the first take.
There's something on the YouTubes somewhere where old tracks are played with and without Autotune. The differences are subtle but once you notice it's amazing. Robert Plant didn't sound totally different, but it's much less interesting.
Nowadays all I can hear on modern songs is Autotune. . . .
Wow, thanks for that! Recently saw an interview of Ringo by Rick Rubin who told of working with Ringo once and that he played the drums so well that he filled the room with sound - using the exact same kit others needed amplification for. With this new mix you can really hear that fullness of tone/timbre in his playing.
"Wings takes a strong position..."
Who know that Paul McCartney's cheesy post-Beatles group was secretly involved in music criticism?
The pitch is perfect for the mood of the song. Imagine an opera singer singing it.
I have come to really enjoy these reaction videos. Especially youngsters realizing that people actually played instruments and wrote songs back in the day.
The wings of pegasus reactions to grand funk railroad and Mark Farner are pretty cool.
This is the first time I had ever heard this song. Drab. It drags and has no melody. The worst song I've heard from them. However, I repeat my earlier comment: the visuals are amazing and beautiful.
Wings of Pegasus has some reactions to Roy Clark as a guitarist that are pretty interesting as well.
The most interesting episodes were the 2 (including an interview with Bob Berryhill himself) in a deep dive into the Surfari’s classic, Wipe Out.
