The Midwest needs to promote its foliage more. Also, get on the maple syrup bandwagon and stick it to Vermont.

I tried to watch That Dirty Black Bag, a Western from AMC, but it was too loaded down with clichés. The political correctness didn't help, but I would have powered through on the theory that if you can manage to watch 3 hours of anything you will be addicted and want to watch the whole thing, but the incredible unoriginality of the thing got to me.

Why do you even have a comments section for photos like this? Words cannot contain them.

Lovely colors of Fall!!

Attended the low-key gender reveal for my older daughter and her husband yesterday. And, if you’ve been around me for more than ten minutes in real life, you’ll know that I have two wonderful daughters - and I can’t imagine any greater blessing. That said, I’m getting a grandson in March and I’m over the moon!! :)

It has been interesting to watch the sea change in the technology/investment sector.

Most people are starting to believe that the Biden Regime and the Fed are purposely trying to destroy the world economy and destroy every currency but the dollar.

You don't really need to espouse any particular theory. The proof is in the pudding. This is all happening in real time right in front of everyone.

And how can you describe the incessant efforts by the Biden administration to start WW3? Who has ever tried so hard to force a country to launch a nuke?

They need Putin to use nukes to blame him for the absolute economic global disaster they have created.

Look for more calls for censorship and attacks on "misinformation" to follow.

My wild swimming lady friends and I are having a Fall Colors plein air painting event at a local State Park this weekend in Center Mass. The weather is cooperating.

Swam a mile in our pond last night to see the Hunters Moon rise in the water which is in the high 50's. Still quite chilly in a tri-suit.

@ $89, it's a steal. I don't think they carry fat fuck sizes.

Apparently *they* say the cold water stimulates the vagus nerve. I don't know, it makes me feel calm and virile.

election day must be getting close, 'cause All Sudden Like, republican candidates across the country are now favored to win. For a year now; we've been hearing about how democrats were Actually going to INCREASE their majorities..
But now! All Sudden Like; it's looking BAD for demos
It's ALMOST AS IF; early polling was a pile sh*t, and that Everything they said, was bull
huh?

It took me a while to recall, but the last novel I read was Anthony Powell's "The Valley of Bones," the first of the wartime trilogy in the bigger series. It was actually a reread and very serendipitous (as much as choosing to read a book you vaguely recall can be), and I'm glad I did.

I noticed things this time that I hadn't before, and/or had forgotten. I'm a few decades more familiar with British culture and WWII, if nothing else, and it was a richer experience.

I suppose we should be happy that Colorado knows where 30,000 noncitizens are.

As MLK said... Keep your eyes on the bright side.

The bright foliage shown is I believe the Sugar Maple. Turns early and bright red/orange/yellow it's almost fluorescent in the sun. Stunning.

I tried to google it and I found

which is hilarious

(the fact checkers are furious -- "there is no ice cream truck!" and "it's a lie!")

YouTube took down a Russell Brand video quoting the changing government official covid narratives. RB was accused of… you guessed it… misinformation. It’s hilarious.

Let’s say YouTube stuck in a ditch, but the problem is nobody is paying attention to them. They can just pull out of the ditch anytime they want. Why double down? I don’t get it.

I don't give a shit what Stacey Abrams says or does, Drag! Never have, never will. Now, if you asked me if TFG is funny I would say yes, as in strange, as are your provocations.

Lem - Colorado probably has 30,000 migrants who represent about 42% of the seasonal farm work population in the state in any given year. Noncitizens are not always illegals. They likely know more about growing cannabis, doncha think?

In slavery days there used to be a “house n word” who was given the task of enforcing the house rules.

Did a house “n word” just go off on Kanye West on TMZ?

The FBI is targeting people on the right when they were asked about January 6th. Trump supporters have targets on their backs. THIS isn't the America I grew up in. I am ashamed of this country and the Fascism that has taken over the Government under Joe Biden. And it IS fascism.

Yay, Beasts!
We will hopefully be holding our 1st grandchild in a month’s time- a girl.
A grandson is due in February. I’m over the (full)moon, I’m so happy:0)

We have a current temperature of 24 this morning. I’m not so pleased about that, but- it’s time. Our mountains are now losing leaves- peak was last week. Still a gorgeous world in our little NEK. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

On another note- a dear friend lost her 20yr old grandson in a motorcycle accident last week. The funeral was a Latin Mass on Sunday. Everything usually recited was sung by a Schola- a group of trained men singing Gregorian chant. Is it singing or chanting? Hauntingly beautiful- the most solemn Mass I’ve ever been to.

It was traditionally touching.

Inspired to see more of the Hunter's Moon, we drove through all sorts of twisting roads in dark woods last night. Soon lost track of the moon but saw a lot of woods -- the big woods. Groups of cows alongside a field became a welcome sighting. Weather has turned back to beautiful in mid-Atlantic. Not swimming, but walking, orienteering, and a little boating. Golden days in October give us a nice sample of the beauty and variety of life. But we try to squeeze in more gardening and house work and our backs hurt; praise the Lord and pass the ibuprofen.

Narr- Anthony Powell is well worth a second reading. The first reading is the plot overview and the second reading is the story details. The war years are the best part of the series. I did not like the last few books in the 60’s as much.

Finally getting fall here near Philly. Taking the train into the city for an afternoon class in how to look at art at the Barnes Foundation. Great institution. Largest collection of Impressionist paintings in the world . Barnes personal story is interesting.

After class is a 30 minute walk with cigar past Logan Circle and it’s fountain to club for drinks/dinner with a friend to discuss the world while wife plays bridge in next room. Five minute walk to train and home around 9 to feed dogs.

There are few things more enjoyable than walking through the city people watching in cool weather with a good cigar. The only negative is that the young women professionals dressed much better years ago when I worked in town.

Neither did we, but YOUR President opened the borders and let the invaders pour in. TELL HIM to do something about it, instead of crying about taking some responsibility for Progressive policies that YOU agree with.

I don't think it's a grand conspiracy, Zelensky's handlers own Joe Biden, and we (The FBI) knew about Joe Biden's corruption prior to the Democratic primary, when he should have just been swept aside, but the powers that be cleared the field for him, except they left Fauxcahantis in just long enough to kneecap Bernie, if you recall. Why? Because we wanted this war, and Joe Biden was exactly the guy to light it off.

It's the neocons using the Nazis, and the climate extremists funded by billionaires in an alliance that is at cross purposes, but must not be broken. I think the climate extremists would not mind a nuclear war, if it could be limited, which it can't.
