Would a sandhill crane bow to a CR-V? I think not.

Damn. Love that car. But be careful. I've seen cranes attack cars in the driveways in my neighborhood. One crane in particular has an issue with a black Jeep in a neighbors drive. Whenever the crane is in the area, it walks up to that car and starts pecking at it. Not gently, but in an attack mode. Might be going after a shiny reflection of himself. Or...they secretly hate cars.

How can the attacker be released w/out bail?
Isn’t it attempted murder? Wtf??

farmgirl...that is New York law!! That's why people are leaving in droves. WHY would any law abiding person want to live there. And imagine. They held the bodega worker in Rikers for over 5 days for DEFENDING HIMSELF. They are backwards. Upside down world, where criminals are freed, and law abiding citizens are punished.

Was it trying to do a courtship dance?

Is that not a Great Blue Heron? Surely you know or have researched it. We have what I have identified as Great Blues visit our back yard pond occasionally. But maybe I am mistaken on my end.

Cranes are bird-brains. Probably saw himself in the cars reflection. Or maybe he stubbed his toe. Saw a wild turkey this AM, strutting down the middle of the street like he owned it. these guys are getting way too cocky.

Here's another pic showing the distinctive features better. We see sandhill cranes in this location all the time.

Are you positive the crane isn't a republican.

All that leaping...

There was a group of turkeys that surrounded a neighbor's car the other day.

They lightly pecked it, and looked like the hominids surrounding the '2001' monolith...

So that's what an Audi TT looks like!

Did I mention that car is a 2005-ish Audi TT?

Pretty sure what I saw two rabbits in my backyard doing was. Haha found a video, yep, exactly what they were up too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X0qoRMsUzM

James Earl Carter had his aquatic attack rabbit, Althouse has her Sandhill crane.
Whose encounter left them with more moral authority?

This will help.

I have to share this video of a sandhill crane <a href="https://flic.kr/p/WG718s”>pecking at his reflection.</a>

When I saw the first photo, I thought it was a sculpture of a crane. It looked almost metallic like the car.

Crane, Crane, Goose!

Thanks. That was very informative. The different neck shape is a big difference. They look very different when flying. I don't think I've ever seen a great blue heron flying. I see the sandhill cranes flying in this area all the time.

Thanks for the compliment. I agree that the TT is very beautiful. And it has almost reached the age of consent. You're right that it's a 2005.

Cranes often leap to flush insects from deep grass.

Nicholas said...

Ann, congratulations on the TT still looking pristine after all these years. It’s reached the semi -venerable stage of what the German petrolheads call a Youngtimer.

farmgirl said...

The crane probably likes it’s(heh) partner to have a big booty.
This well rounded car fit the bill.

I was just wondering if you still had the TT. Looks like you do! You keep it in great shape!
