What am I up to? I am visiting the great state of Texas. I drove through the magnificent monument to human progress and prosperity that is the Midland-Odessa oil field. I stopped one night at a hotel where the guys who keep your civilization alive were staying. They do real work - not the pansy button clicking that most of us do. They finish the day tired, and they have no time to worry about anyone's pronouns. Bless them, I wish they were paid four times the salary of the highest paid diversity administrator in the land.

Spent the day and night (yesterday) in the City by the Bay.

There are armed guards and police everywhere in the shopping district, and not just at the jewelry stores.

Walgreens had a guy guarding the door that looked straight off the SWAT truck.

Everywhere.

Walking to (and especially from) the theater in the Tenderloin should have required a tetanus shot...no, that's not a puddle of water you're stepping in.

It started declining years ago, but is now firmly entrenched in the HoF of shithole cities.

What a dump.

But Nancy will never see it from her blacked-out limo or her mansion in Pac Heights.

My wife and I are in a tiny cabin near Palo Duro Canyon State Park in the Panhandle. I'll run a 25k trail race in the morning and she will hike to Lighthouse Rock while I'm racing. We dined on the Canyon Court Square earlier. It's a cool little Texas college town. I have been here several times. West Texas State University is here and they have a nice little Panhandle museum on campus. Canyon is 20 miles south of Amarillo on the road to Lubbock, and Palo Duro, the second largest canyon in the U.S., is about 10 miles east of town.

Well well well. The National School Board Association just sent a powerful kick right to LLR Chuck's nether regions!

BREAKING: NSBA apologizes for letter that served as basis for
@TheJusticeDept
AG #Garland’s directive for FBI to target parents as “domestic terrorists,” including #LoudounScandal outrageously labeling dad of rape victim as poster-boy of domestic terrorism. Will the AG reverse?

Why would the NSBA feel the need to do this since none other than our resident gin and tonic soaked FakeCon leftist, LLR Chuck, lectured us ad nauseum and ad infinitum that the NSBA played no role whatsoever in what Garland and the DOJ did in standing up a task force.....even though Garland ALSO testified under oath that the letter was the ONLY reason he did so.

So, for those at home keeping score, LLR Chuck lied about both the NSBA and Merrick Garland's statements/intent and then, within days both the NSBA and Garland throw LLR Chuck under the bus!!

LOL

Couldn't happen to a "nicer" far left FakeCon.

Not to worry. Chuck still has his hoax insurrection to go along with his charlottesville hoax, inject bleach hoax, collusion hoax, etc., as well as Maddow and Stelter recordings, AOC "economic treatises" and Lawrence Tribe legal reasoning offerings for as far as the eye can see.

I got a haircut!

Not for dinner though. That was before lunch, even before looking in here, even before finally getting that recommendation email done and sent. What else have I done with myself?

Dog walks--two, of one mile each. My own, ditto. Post office to check for history society mail and try to get stamps. Negatory on the stamps--woman with a big box full of small packages to be sent all over in front, and one harried postal clerk who tried to serve a few of us who only needed stamps but couldn't because her terminal was slow . . .

It's been a long time since I've been to any local p.o. and found more than one clerk on duty.

Just leftovers for dinner, but ain't nothing wrong with leftovers.

Current reading: Barbarossa by Dimbleby; the Horse the Wheel and Language by Anthony; Emperor Charles V, Impresario of War by Tracy.

And the usual bumf on the interweb.

Regarding Rolfe's claim that the DOJ action was unrelated to the NSBA letter: I never understood his need to deny the obvious. What am I missing?

NY Post

NYC filmmaker punks students into donating to Taliban

'...In his shocking new video “Students Fund the Taliban,” New York filmmaker Ami Horowitz hits up the campus of legendarily leftist school University of California, Berkeley, with a modest pitch: raise money for the Taliban to perpetuate its attacks on Americans.

“We’re raising money for the Taliban!” “Get your Taliban here,” Horowitz, 46, crows in the revealing three-minute “gotcha” clip, canvassing for terror with the blitheness of someone handing out coupons for a sandwich shop...'

(One student is seen giving $50. Others gave less.)

As Drag reported, The NY Post revealed that:

"The National School Boards Association board of directors Friday repudiated a letter its two top officials sent to President Biden, which precipitated Attorney General Merrick Garland’s order that the FBI to investigate complaints of threats to school officials from parents."

Meanwhile, Techmeme reported (outside of paywalls) on yesterday's Facebook whistleblower news:

"On Jan. 6, Facebook staffers expressed their horror in internal messages as they watched thousands of Trump supporters shouting “stop the steal” and bearing the symbols of QAnon — a violent ideology that had spread widely on Facebook before an eventual crackdown — thronged the U.S. Capitol. Many bashed their way inside and battled to halt the constitutionally mandated certification of President Biden’s election victory.

Measures of online mayhem surged alarmingly on Facebook, with user reports of “false news” hitting nearly 40,000 per hour, an internal report that day showed. On Facebook-owned Instagram, the account reported most often for inciting violence was @realdonaldtrump — the president’s official account, the report showed."

It s really not difficult to ascertain which of these news stories is the more serious.

"I’m rowing 21,000 meters tomorrow; half marathon."

Just last week, I revised my training schedule to include 2-3 cross-training days a week. Rowing will always be part of those days. I've always liked it but never done it regularly and I'm looking forward to seeing how far I can take it. I just did 1000 and 1200 meters on my two days so far this week. I'm trying to ease into rowing, stair mill, elliptical etc. My plan it to run a little harder on my running days but do lower impact stuff on my recovery days as opposed to just running easy.

"What kind of soup?"

Minnestrone.

I've used the recipe from "The Classic Italian Cookbook" since the 70s, and yesterday's soup was more faithful to it than usual, with cannellini beans and peeled potatoes. And — as I've done in the past, but not every time — I made my own chicken broth (beginning with a store-bought rotisserie chicken).

The Poor Man's LLR Chuck, gadfly: "t s really not difficult to ascertain which of these news stories is the more serious."

As each of his/her/xer's moronic BlueAnon conspiracy hoaxes collapses, in this case The Great Threats Against School Board By Horrific Trump Supporting White Supremacist Domestic Terrorists Crisis Of 2021, the ever more hilariously desperate gadfly "valiantly" struggles to resurrect previously debunked and moronic BlueAnon conspiracy theories, such as the Jan 6 Not-An-Insurrection "Insurrection" Hoax.

For context, this gadfly creature STILL believes, (STILL!) that Trump colluded with Russia and was pinging Putin with Secret Servers and was laundering russky oligarch cash, etc etc etc.

Basically, Maddow/Schiff x Infinity.

Too funny.

Sounds yummy. That your are going to the trouble of making home-made broth. extra yum!

Another day passes and gadfly finds himself/herself/xerself flummoxed that the DOJ has once again "forgotten" to charge anyone from the 1/6 kerfuffle with "insurrection", not even insurrection-ery Insurrection, or even Insurrectionist-y Insurrection!

Perhaps the "Insurrection Dossier" from Perkins-Coie and the 7th floor of the FBI building has not yet been delivered to the DOJ?...............
