"Our politicians, rich people and powerful people have built such houses by shedding people's blood. We hope to see Allah's paradise. This [mansion] doesn't mean anything to me."

Just like our politicians who get richer and richer whilst they tax us more and more and more. Why do you think the Nancy and Diane's stay as long as they do??

that is So Alien.
He has put His name on his rifle. He hasn't even given his rifle its own name. What a freak!
If i had a rifle, i'd name it Charlene Darling

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will ...
My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit ...
My rifle is human, even as I [am human], because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will ...
Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

"More than 150 fighters live in the mansion..."

Especially watching the Mujahideen pretend doctor with the stethoscope, you can see how playful the Taliban are just like the Beatles or the Monkees living in a house together.

It's a very old story: Barbarians conquer (say) Imperial China, and turn into decadent rich Chinese rulers.
Of course he says it means nothing to him, in front of the cameras. Once the cameras are off, he probably took a nice nap on one of those fancy beds and got the slaves to mix him a martini.

Good. Now show us one of the Clinton's homes. Or any of Bush's homes. Or Pelosi's homes. Or...the many Obama homes, especially that nice walled in one in the Kalorama neighborhood of DC and the new oceanside mansion in Hawaii (not to mention his multi-acre monument to himself taking over the south side of Chicago). Biden? He lives in a basement. Not because he's a man of the people, but because he thinks it's his mansion.

Powerful people live on the backs of their citizens all the time, throughout history. And once the Taliban get a taste of it, there will be fights by a few of them to secretly get more of that (luxury) for themselves. Even the Taliban love Anichini sheets.

PS- I didn't mention Trump above with the other 'leaders' who live in nice mansions because Trump made his himself, not by using his political office.

Another day in Afghanistan. The irony of the Mujahideen commenting in the clip about the forty years of suffering of the Afghani people is entirely lost on him.

By the way- that mansion was built using our tax dollars we pissed away in Afghanistan for the last 20 years.

'We hope to see Allah's paradise.'

It's too bad that we as a country don't have the will or the balls to make that happen sooner than later.

Isn't this exactly a scene in Animal Farm? Right now they're all sharing the house, but soon the house will be for officers only, and not long after that, some Taliban will be more equal than others.

The main spokesman said he had never seen a mansion like that but he seemed very familiar with a lot of the more modern features. I heard the references to Allah but I also heard what sounds like Marxism to me or maybe just what would be considered ordinary populist rhetoric, the rich and powerful get richer and more powerful off the blood of the people, that kind of thing. Also that devotion to weaponry, which would appeal to many in this country as well, don't be going anywhere without your weapon.

He seemed fairly well educated although I don't speak Pashto or whatever he was speaking so maybe he didn't sound that literate. Interesting that he wanted to make sure we know that he doesn't care about material things. He is not a devil, not like the former occupant of the mansion/squat where he and many others now live. No, he is one of the Mujahideen*, strugglers for justice. There to help the people. Who are afraid but they shouldn't be.

I can't really tell how old he is but he had to have been a child, I think, when we first came to his lovely country back in 2001.

*Why do I always think of Kyle MacLachlan whenever I hear or write that word?

I, too, hate the riches amassed by the corrupt leadership of the corporate, political, and religious worlds, and would like to have a nice house in Hawaii as my quarters, from which I could hate the corruption even more strongly.

I'm embarrassed to admit, that i'm not a Marine, and thus; never had a rifle to name
As i posted; IF i had a rifle, i'd name her Charlene. Betty is a nice name too

>>not to mention his multi-acre monument to himself taking over the south side of Chicago

A week from now I hope to be in Chicago for my 50th(!) high school reunion (what can I say, I'm a youngster around here). The reunion is at the Jesuit school site on the near West Side (including the landmark original building), but I grew up on the South Side (and my very numerous family on both sides had extensive roots in and around West Englewood). Very doubtful that I'll head out in that direction in the brief time I'll be there, but I am pretty familiar with the area and the issues about the Obama monstrosity. Really sticks in my craw. There's a lawsuit to stop it, based, in part, on a ridiculous sweetheart deal with the city (NTM, the totally inappropriate use of that particular location), but I am not optimistic that it's going anywhere.
