"... and be elected to that job by partisan voters who wish to enact political retribution, then we are no longer a free constitutional democracy.... These investigations have also been going on for years with members and associates of the Trump Organization being viciously attacked, harassed, and threatened, in order to say anything bad about the 45th President of the United States..... These Democrat offices are consumed with this political and partisan Witch Hunt at a time when crime is up big in New York City.... But the District Attorney and Attorney General are possessed, at an unprecedented level, with destroying the political fortunes of President Donald J. Trump and the almost 75 million people who voted for him, by far the highest number ever received by a sitting President. That is what these investigations are all about—a continuation of the greatest political Witch Hunt in the history of the United States. Working in conjunction with Washington, these Democrats want to silence and cancel millions of voters because they don’t want 'Trump' to run again."

"While I fully agree that the investigations of Trump--all of them--are dangerously corrupt partisan witch hunts, and also that Hillary Clinton belongs in jail for her crimes; nevertheless, I can't read this statement without hearing the words, "Lock her up!""

“There's quite a difference between chants by a crowd at a rally that have no actual ability to enforce or prosecute another political party and effectively weaponizing the DOJ to go after your opponents. I guess Joe Biden did learn a few things from Obama. Even if Trump had a cooperative DOJ, I don't believe he would have ever actually prosecuted Hillary regardless of her criminal conduct.”

"Trump went beyond encouraging his followers to chant "lock her up". At one debate he told Clinton that if he was president she'd be in jail. On November 20, 2018, the NY Times reported that the prior Spring Trump told his White House Counsel to direct DOJ to prosecute Clinton, and also prosecute Comey for leaking. The WH Counsel had his office write a memo telling POTUS he lacked the authority to order prosecutions and that with respect to Comey he risked impeachment for obstruction of justice. Trump nonetheless repeatedly continued to press for criminal investigations of both Clinton and Comey, and attacked his replacement FBI director for being weak in this area. Pretty sure there was more of the same from Trump after November 2018."
