Kim Yo-jong was quoted in the official Rodong Sinmun newspaper as saying: "A word of advice to the new administration of the United States that is struggling to spread the smell of gunpowder on our land from across the ocean. "If it wants to sleep in peace for [the] coming four years, it had better refrain from causing a stink at its first step."...

Pyongyang has yet to acknowledge that President Biden is now in office....
Relations between the US and North Korea plummeted in 2017, when the North tested long-range missiles capable of hitting American cities. Tensions eased as President Donald Trump sought to develop a personal rapport with Mr Kim....
Biden has yet to announce his policy on North Korea, but during his campaign, he called Kim a "thug."

Diplomacy at its best. :-(
When Trump called Kim 'Rocket Man', Kim took it as a compliment. What Trump understood about NK is that, more than anything else, they want to be noticed and taken seriously.
Thanks, Ms. Kim, for reminding me of The Great Cornholio.
(Are you threatening me?!)
I notice the BBC avoids mentioning Obama's role in the plummeting relationship. Under Obama, the US military conducted ever more provocative war games in the Korean Peninsula each year. Kim got a little tired of the B-52s flying closer and closer.
I'm not necessarily opposed to keeping them honest or even scaring them a bit, but that's only useful to push them to negotiations, which Obama never attempted.
I wonder what the situation would be with respect to North Korea if Democrats hadn’t encouraged foreign leaders to think they’d railroad Trump out of office on the phony Russian Collusion hoax or Impeachment #1.
She's talking to Kamala. Kamala winks back.
This is after wendy sherman's framework lavished millions on the kim dynasts. Even after we knew aq khan had been shopping designs to them
"it had better refrain from causing a stink at its first step."
As the children of Korea proclaim, "I love my hooker"
"Biden has yet to announce his policy on North Korea."
Correction: he did. As he said during the campaign:
“I’ll lead an effective strategy to mobilize truaninonashufodopressure.”
Scared'm stiff!
The Norks at least respected Trump... they don't respect this senile imposter of a president one wit.
Never underestimate Joe's ability to f*ck things up.
1. Antagonize Biden for attention.
2. ???? Biden
3. Billions in aid to North Korea.
3a. 10% to the Big Guy.
All North Korea has to do is kick back a few hundred million of the billions coming their way from the feckless Democrat administration of Dr. Jill Biden, and everyone's happy.
The Norks thought they could scare Trump.
Trump sent Dennis Rodman over there to tell Kim Jong-Un where things stood.
The Norks said "What the everloving...?"
And we've had relative calm ever since. Greatest madman diplomacy in history.
"If it wants to sleep in peace for [the] coming four years, it had better refrain from causing a stink at its first step."
What's the deal with the bracketed [the]? Since this is a translation from Korean, presumably there's no need to correct the grammar. Is there more context to this quote?
We went from having a president who walked into North Korea to having one that can't get his phone calls answered. Perhaps China is feeling like it's not getting everything it's paid for from Biden so it is putting on a little pressure via NK. Or Kim Jong Un knows that it's Obama people running the show and he had enough of that the first time around.
SISTER? Mon Dieu! That means they've beat us to the maternity flight suits!
No worries. Biden has the support of the Film Actors Guild.
Mary Beth: "Perhaps China is feeling like it's not getting everything it's paid for from Biden so it is putting on a little pressure via NK."
Oh, the ChiComs are getting everything they paid for but not even they thought the Harris/obambi/Slow Joes Earpiece admin would be this pathetic so the ChiComs are upping their demands and probably threatening to cut off Hunter's access to plentiful crack cocaine and underage Chinese girls as well.
And now, we actually have a dotard [nominally] in charge.
Ah. Biden can call Kim a "thug," b/c he's so very . . . Asian? But the word is banned from American domestic political discourse.
"The Norks thought they could scare Trump.

Is that really what you think happened?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
She's been following the Pepe LePew crisis.
Mind you, I have no qualms with Trump's diplomatic efforts in North Korea. I applaud him for it.
The missiles came from uralmash a major ukrainian military contractor.
If Kim Jong-Un’s sister is the one issuing the threats now, he must really be sick (or dead), Or is this some kind of diplomatic slap-in-the-face - having your sister tell the new administration to ‘back off’?
"Biden has yet to announce his policy on North Korea, but during his campaign, he called Kim a "thug."
A case of it takes one to know one.
Trump did a decent job with North Korea, or rather Kim Jong Un specifically. You could tell that he was feeling him out by the way he altered the tone of his message. I think he correctly sussed out that Kim Jong Un wanted some measure of respect. Which makes sense given his status in his country where the most important currency for the current leader is respect. Certainly appears more important to him and his father than say food. I hope the Biden administration can build on what has happened.
Ahh I want to make a clarification. When I said respect seems more important than food to the current leader. I mean respect is more important than food for his country. The current leader of North Korea appears to value food fairly highly.
Swalwell can't help himself.
Trump is a good judge of human nature and knows how to read individuals. He is actually a born diplomat, odd as that may sound. If anyone can work a crisis into a win-win situation, it's Trump.
Yo-jong vs Jen, or maybe not vs (IYKWIMAITYD).
Maybe some highly public scissoring could lead to a better international situation--if it enhances our own culture so much, imagine what it could do for international relations.

I'm with Granny Jenson: I enjoy relations

Actually I was trying to be funny (mildly, which is the best I can do), so, glad you got a laugh.
Are they fans of James Taylor?
JPS, Mr. Cook has several fine qualities but a sense of humor isn't one of them.
Not to worry Susan Rice will handle it after consulting with Barack Hussein Obama.
>>"Biden has yet to announce his policy on North Korea, but during his campaign, he called Kim a "thug."
So, will they give Biden the Nobel Peace prize for his pioneering work in Korea, or will they wait for Harris?
I'm sure he'll be kowtowing in best Obama-approved fashion in no time.
Biden should make Trump our first Ambassador to North Korea. Tell him he can come back once quarter to report on a govt jumbo.
DanTheMan asks, "So, will they give Biden the Nobel Peace prize for his pioneering work in Korea, or will they wait for Harris?"
Embrace the power of 'and,' Dan!

But they better hurry
Kim's favorite sibling.
The one he didn't have killed.
She is slated to be the next Dear Leader. And I understand she's a lot more difficult than her brother.
Are they fans of James Taylor?
Heh. I figure Springsteen is in the inner circle and he makes Kerry look good in comparison...
>>The one he didn't have killed.
Yet.
The one he didn't have killed.
She's still considered to be a viable member of the family/community/nation. Her value may change surreptitiously with a choice at Twilight or overtly with progress.
Trump was making progress until John "Mr. Mustache" Bolton told the Norks that we'd use the Libyan model to de-nuke them. Hillary Clinton tanked that model when she promoted the overthrow of Khadafi. Khadafi was our man in North Africa after Bush scared the bejesus out of him. Mr. Mustache's comments implied that Kim Jung Un would get the same treatment - a friend for a few years, then thrown over when he was no longer needed.
Joe Biden probably thinks North Korea is located two-states north of Nebraska.
Top Biden officials are in South Korea now to discuss North Korea, having just agreed to new defense cost sharing deal. Something the art-of-the-deal former guy never managed.
"Actually I was trying to be funny (mildly, which is the best I can do), so, glad you got a laugh."
Sorry if I misread you. There are plenty here--a majority--who would make that assertion in dead seriousness.
