Agree Trump could be a tragic figure. Thought that all along. I don't think he expected to win, at the outset. And you shouldn't run if you're not serious. Though people do all the time.
But I think winning affected him, touched him like nothing else could. He tried to live up to it, bigly. Try everything! Talk to everybody!
Death in office! From the bug that wrecked his great economy! What an ending!
No modern playwright or screenwriter could do it justice.

The Left is working very hard to draw the Nixon caricature.
Nixon was tragic because he was a very capable man who was destroyed because of anti-Communism and misplaced loyalty. He was as practical and non-ideological as Trump. When he planned his first run for Congress he was undecided about whether to be a Democrat or a Republican.
If he had not inherited the Viet Nam War and got caught up in Watergate (a much lesser version of Obamagate for you youngsters), he would have been considered a terrific POTUS.
Given all the crap that Trump has inherited, he has been a remarkably effective POTUS, but they have to make him into Nixon. Their survival depends on it.
The fucking cunt Trump's idiot behavior placed himself, his co workers, his family and his fans needlessly at risk of infection from the China bioweapon. Treasonous Trump is doing Xi's bidding in their war against America.
People don't realize how unlikely any president or candidate is to step aside. Too many people are supporting them with money for them to just walk away.
I suspect Nixon pissed off a lot of people by not contesting the 1960 election and for resigning when he did.
All these quitting scenarios are speculation by frustrated novelists.
What, my darling, my very dear darling? You, who claim to be 'rebels', the dark skinned nomads of a fecund 'race', British, believing in Liberty, that very foreign word, of which we had no need, until today - even Thomas Paine, who follows directly and logically, from Hume - and Locke, of course, the great libaler on our king/martyre, Charles the first. But the so called 'Gloriopus Revoltion' which chased his son, for bulshit reasons, introduced the so called 'Bill of Rights' - 'no one can be deprived of their liberty, without good reason' - what are the 'good reasons' today. None of them stands up to scrutiny. A distance in a whirrilng mist in a whirrling sand - infantile nonsense, infantile sorrow.
I couldn't figure out how the vote rigging would work, but after reading this now I get it. They don't need to win in court only tie up the counts long enough to make the Presidential vote irrelevant:

This is stupid even for you, Howard. Do you expect the president to hide in his basement like Biden ? At least you acknowledge the role of China, then you go off on some wild fantasy. Try to hold it together another month, Howard
Regarding the podcast, "noise-canceling" headset mics are generally eschewed by podcasters because their firmware cancels much of the signal along with the noise. Podcasting started out pretty much ad hoc -- use whatever you have and folks will listen. Today, expectations are higher, and the technical standards have ramped up accordingly. Consequently, you ought to look into something better. At a bare minimum, I recommend something from the Blue line of USB microphones that do not require a separate audio interface. Be wary of desk mounting, though most Blue mics come with a detachable desk stand. Desk mounting can make positioning difficult, and they can pick up footsteps and other ambient vibrations from a considerable distance. A better solution is to use some form of boom mounting. Amazon has an adjustable scissor boom mic stand with a pop screen (and you certainly need a pop screen in any case) for under $30. If you'd like to try something more professionally-oriented, visit Musician's Friend.
I don't know what software you're using now, but I recommend Adobe Audition. You can record directly into Audition and then apply a host of filters, effects, and mixing tools to perfect your product. Adobe Audition is part of Creative Cloud, so there's a yearly subscription fee. Audition is especially fitting for the Althouse web-presence because there used to be an Althouse blog regular, Robert Ellison, who developed Audition more than 25 years ago as a 16-bit digital audio workstation application for Windows called Cool Edit. Ellison and his partner continued to improve and expand Cool Edit through several generations until Adobe bought it outright for $16.5 million back in 2003. It was then renamed Adobe Audition.
There's a free alternative called Audacity, which has versions for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Audacity works pretty well, though Audition impresses me as more intuitive and full-featured — ya get whacha pay for. If your system runs macOS you could use Garageband, but I don't recommend it. Being aimed primarily at music production, Garageband includes MIDI features that do not apply to the typical podcasting paradigm.

I’ve been saying that from the start—the shutdowns, quarantining is exactly like that—we’re advised by the experts and the journalists to enjoy our lives behind closed doors, shutting out the virus and the rest of the world. Ironic, though, that the person who made you think of Poe’s story has been savaged for supposedly playing down measures against the virus and is usually attacked by your side for not doing enough to wall himself off.
No matter how much you try and slam me Tim, the Altard Trumpers will always hate you for your Libtard position on masks and social distancing. Nice try. In any event, Joe didn't facilitate the China bioweapon to kill hundreds of thousands of American citizens.
roesch/voltaire thinks The Masque of the Red Death by Poe might be a story that comes close to the present narrative. And so it does to someone who hasn't read the story and hates Donald Trump. In fact, most of what roesch/voltaire has to say issues forth from ignorance and hate.
Thanks, Quaestor, but I'm intent on keeping it simple. I have a Blue Snowball microphone from my old days of podcasting, when I did use Garageband and Libsyn, but I'm not doing that now. I'm using Anchor to do everything.
Actually, I got out my old Blue Snowball microphone. I'll use it for the first time on Oct. 5th. I've already done the Oct. 4th podcast.
It has a USB connector, and I wasn't able to use that on my iPad (without some adaptor, at least), but I was able to make a breakthrough in signing into Anchor from my desktop, and now the USB thing isn't an issue.

I appreciate your cool neutrality, Ann.
We're going to need it I'm afraid.
Now here's poetic justice: Journalists who work at the White House are testing positive for Covid-19
Thanks, wild chicken. I like using this post to make comments on things in the podcast that are not on the blog.

Well the bright spot in all this is, no more pressure from the local GOP activists to resume in-person meetings, meet and greets, door knocking etc.
Sorry, no can do. Can't be helped!
Maybe the story of Icarus is a more fitting allegory.
I wonder if Trump fancied he was just doing a Herman Cain when he filed for office.
Cain got a little buzz going for awhile too. But not that well known outside of atlanta.

Could a reporter be responsible for infecting the President?

You could use some John Donne.
Poetic justice is Chris Christie watching the results of his debate prep and then checking himself into a hospital.
It is hilarious reading the press right now. It makes me think of the old SNL Weekend Update routine about Francisco Franco, but in reverse.

No, poetic justice would you getting it and checking into a hospital, creep

It is what it is.
Poetic justice is Readering watching this.
Trump on Twitter selling his medical condition like he once sold Trump Univerisity.

Cosmic irony beats poetic justice.

You may have seen recently that Nancy Pelosi was campaigning in Michigan. She wasn't just doing that to support Joe Biden. The Democrats are preparing for a scenario in which the House of Representatives has to choose the President under the Constitution.
Silly dullards - keep grasping.
Cosmic irony is proud MD Michael K hanging in every word from the DO treating POTUS.

Yeah, Readering, he looked like a man at death's door in that video.
"Treasonous Trump is doing Xi's bidding in their war against America.”
This from a guy who plans to vote for Biden.
Perhaps cosmic karma, but he's not Pro-Choice.
I appreciate the input of the few leftists remaining on this site.
They used to provide comedic relief, But Inga and Ritmo have departed. Chuck is likely institutionalized.
The remaining trolls give us an insight into the machinations of the DNC. It's all predictable, but still useful to confirm.
Thanks for your contributions guys.
It's not how he looks today, it's the bs about what the future holds. His nice suits suckered the Trump University students too.
