So we see, summer is gone. Soon too will be our exhaustion with the 2020 election. Nov 4 cannot get here soon enough for my taste.

The southern coast of Maine was noisy today, big surf, lots of surfers, cool temperatures. The sunrise was magnificent with terrific colors. Just the right amount of clouds to create contrast and autumn color. Lots of tourists in town. Fall decorations (Halloween themed) in abundance. It's decorative gourd season mother fuckers (h/t McSweeney's).

Biden continues to produce a steady supply of gaffes. Saw something saying he has announced an extended lid with 9 days to go. Of course he did. Much remorse among early Biden voters.

I’m old enough to remember when jokes about black folks eating “chitlins and watermelon” was ok. Now its racist. I wonder how long it will take for such comments as Howard’s To become racist towards poor white folks.

GOP will out of power for next 12 to 16 years. If Biden serves 4 years, then Harris will serve the next 8 years.

Remember when Democrats used to be the party of the little guy? Now they are the party of the ultra rich and the little guys are just collateral damage of globalization, too stupid to realize they should be on the dole, Democrats like their poor people to be happy with handouts. I think that the real change started with the “drag a $100 bill through a trailer park” comment. Then Democrats realized the juice they could get by appealing to the last acceptable bigotry, because certain people need that shot of dopamine they get from feeling superior.

I don't know if that's true or not, but someone on my Twitter feed posted Google analytics after the last debate showing a 400% increase in searches for "how can I change my vote?" Hopefully this will create some awareness of the dangers of advance voting.

In re dancing and its machismo implications, from the old post below. This is from John Reed's "Insurgent Mexico", where Reed was "embedded" in Pancho Villa's Division Del Norte.

"Villa himself stood leaning against a car, hands in his pockets. He
wore an old slouch hat, a dirty shirt without a collar, and a badly
frayed and shiny brown suit. All over the dusty plain in front of him
men and horses had sprung up like magic. There was an immense confusion
of saddling and bridling—a cracked blowing of tin bugles. The Brigada
Zaragosa was getting ready to leave camp—a flanking column of two
thousand men who were to ride southeast and attack Tlahualilo and
Sacramento. Villa, it seemed, had just arrived at Yermo. He had
stopped off Monday night at Camargo to attend the wedding of a
_compadre_. His face was drawn into lines of fatigue.

"Caramba!" he was saying with a grin; "we started dancing Monday
evening, danced all night, all the next day, and last night, too! What
a _baile_! And what _muchachas_! The girls of Camargo and Santa
Rosalia are the most beautiful in Mexico! I am worn out—_rendido_! It
was harder work than twenty battles...."

Whatever else Villa was, he was indisputably a macho man.

Your frame of reference is wrong, Phil. None of the states in the midwest, upper midwest had big outbreaks in the spring- not even Michigan. What Michigan had was a really, really bad mortality rate in the Spring. CFRs for the three states in your comment are, as of tonight, MI=4.28%, MN=1.76%, and WI=0.87%. Total confirmed cases are MI with 176K via 4.5 million tests, MN with 134K via 1.8 million tests, and WI with 209K via 2.0 million tests.

All in all, Wisconsin has done a much better job than the other two states, but all three are in the same boat with regards to the pool of never infected. Shutdowns broke the numbers of infected, but could never extinguish the virus- you are seeing the result of that along with what is probably seaonality. The pandemic has moved from North to South and back North as the seasons have progressed. A similar pattern to Europe.

You got a link for that showing Trump saying it? The crowd chanted it, you know, American citizens. Trump didn't say it. Even Newsweek fact checking ruled it "mostly false". Do you think they are in the tank for Trump?

Stahl lied. These same people have been lying to you about Trump for 4 years now, and not in a small way - big serious lies, hour upon hour, day after day. Trump told you the truth in that interview, but you foolishly choose again to listen to the same people who lied right to your face so many times. You never even questioned them.

Imagine if you knew those were all lies before they bombarded you with them 24/7 for the last four years. Would you believe them anyway. I think you would, because you keep believing them. Isn't that embarrassing?

Leaving tomorrow for a four day trip to Missouri with a toe in Kansas. We are flying into Kansas City, spending a couple days, and driving down to Branson. Very much looking forward to it as I have never been to either Kansas or Missouri and my itchy travel feets are going nuts. Got upgraded to first, too!

Sad thing is that only a few people know we are going anywhere, and we're radio silent on social media about any travel. Don't want to hear it from the sanctimommies. Life goes on. We'll wash hands like we always do, wear our stupid masks, and go spend money in hotels and restaurants and destinations because we want to do our part to help the hospitality and tourism industry survive. Plus we love to travel more than anything in the world and we're not giving it up. Sorry.

Jersey Fled: "I seem to remember someone saying the same in 2008."

Actually, they said the GOP would be in the wilderness for 20 to 40 years in 2008.

In 1992 they said the republicans would be in the wilderness for 2 generations after Clinton's win.

In 1976 they said the republicans might never win the Presidency again.

So what that all means is that if Joe Biden's carcass is carried across the finish line by Big Tech/Big Media/Vote Fraud, the democraticals really will follow thru with all their threats to create a one-party permanent majority by changing everything....and eventually the Constitution itself.

They will "black swan-proof" the electoral process and the Republic forever.

What’s the deal with “the lid’l?

Since when do campaigns make public announcements that the candidate needs to take a nap? I assume his staff is still working, just Biden isn’t. Why publicly announce that? For what purpose would they want everyone to know that Joe is tired today and won’t be doing anything more? Especially when it’s still before lunchtime. Will he be calling lids in the Oval Office?

It seems more like a label the opposition would put out there. How are the Democrats so bad at this?

“ ok, just heard SloJo sez candidate's kids are off-limits.”

“His kid isn’t a child anymore.”

I think, maybe, the standard that I would use would be whether the character or actions of the child affected the qualifications ofvtecparentvfor elective office. Which means that Hunter (and Jim) Biden are fair game. Hunter has long been his father’s bag man. Joe brought his son along on foreign jaunts. Money from foreign governments was passed to Joe through his son, Humper, and brother, Jim. A lot of money. It was bad enough when we just knew that the Chinese government, along with Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs, were paying off Humper and Jim Biden. But Humper, in his coke addled state, turned In a laptop to get it fixed, forgot about it, lost legal ownership to it, and the contents on it turn out to show that his father, running for President, was routinely receiving kickbacks from Hs son and brother for the doors he opened for them. So, hell yes, his son, Humper, is not off limits, because putting him off limits would put the facts of Joe’s bribery, extortion, and selling his government office to other countries off limits.

But by that metric, Trump’s oldest three kids, and the spouses of the two married ones, shouldn’t be off limits either. His son in law, Kushner, is his brains, and likely the key to his foreign policy successes, and his two oldest sons are some of his hardest hitting advocates. Luckily, for Trump, none of them are crack addled grifters, like Humper Biden is. On the flip side, I would put Trump’s younger two kids off limits, band esp. his youngest.

Vermont has a Republican governor who started lifting the lockdowns in April and declared that the police would never be used to enforce suggestions made to the citizens re COVID. I think that the market is freaked out that Biden is basically senile, as he proved again today, and he might lose and the Democrats might take the Senate, as people decide to vote for Trump, but rein him in. Gridlock.

If the Democrats tried, they could work with Trump, he’s basically a Democrat on most issues, but they want control of the graft too.
