"And with Joe and Kamala at the helm, you’re not going to have... to argue about them every day. It just won’t be so exhausting."

"You might be able to have a Thanksgiving dinner without having an argument.... When Joe and Kamala are in charge, they’re not going to surround themselves with hacks and lobbyists, but they’re going to appoint qualified public servants who actually care... Our democracy is not going to work if the people who are supposed to be our leaders lie every day and just make things up. And we’ve just become numb to it. We’ve just become immune to it. Every single day, fact checkers can’t keep up. And, look, this notion of truthfulness and democracy and citizenship, and being responsible, these aren’t Republican or democratic principles, they’re American principles. They’re what most of us grew up learning from our parents and our grandparents. They’re not White or Black or Latino or Asian values, they’re American values, human values, and we need to reclaim them. We have to get those values back at the center of our public life. And we can. But to do it, we’ve got to turn out like never before.... We can’t be complacent. I don’t care about the polls. There were a whole bunch of polls last time, didn’t work out, because a whole bunch of folks stayed at home and got lazy and complacent.... I love you, Philadelphia. Honk if you’re fired up, honk if you’re ready to go. Are you fired up?"

Said Barack Obama, at a rally yesterday at a drive-in in Philadelphia.

Remember, Gruber repeatedly admitted the entire Obamacare media campaign was a lie. Of course everyone knew this but the media pretended this wasn't so.

Also interesting is Obama's argument that because Dem deep staters use illegitimate bureaucratic initiatives to interfere with governance we should return government to their control. Adults realize the Dems actions justify not only preventing their return but a thorough house cleaning of political operatives from every branch of government.

Seriously, that is industrial strength obliviousness or disingenuousness. I suspect the former.

Who are these assholes that pick fights and arguments over Thanksgiving dinner? My approach would be to not invite them next year. We have a large crowd of family, inlaws and all, in for Thanksgiving every year. I am in the minority as a conservative. We never have any fights or arguments about political bullshit.

Obama is just as insufferable today as he was when he was president. As Megan Kelly might say, what a colossal douche-bag.

In my experience it's generally the people who hate Trump who can't shut up about him and become most aggrevated when someone disagrees with them about him. And the argument here seems to be that we just give the babies what they want? Reward the child for throwing a tantrum in the toy store?

It was the Obama Administration that sent out instructions on how to argue with your family at Thanksgiving.

Speaking of exhausting arguments, Trump just released the full unedited interview with Leslie Stahl and 60 minutes. In it, Stahl claims CBS News won't discuss information from Hunter Biden's laptop, because it can't be verified. Did anyone, ever, verify the Steele Dossier? Since this is 60 minutes, did anyone verify the Texas Air National Guard memo?

Yeah, this is so exhausting arguing with these leaders that lie everyday and just make things up.

I also note that Obama, like the New Yorker, is afraid Democrats are staying home. This was pretty apparent earlier in the week when the idea known as Antifa started threatening violence if Biden loses. These aren't behaviors of people that think they are winning.

The Cracker Emcee Refulgent said...

A rally at a drive-in in Philly? Way to pack in the faithful, Barack!

Obama doesn't want Biden to win for the same reason he didn't want Hillary to win. As long as Trump is President, Obama is the head of the Democrat Party. With all the windfalls that implies. Do you think he wants to give that up to Biden of all people?

Neither side has a leg to stand on with respect to not lying. Neither side has disinterested "qualified public servants who actually care." Neither side lacks for "hacks and lobbyists." Neither side lacks "people who are supposed to be our leaders [who] lie every day and just make things up."

If anything good comes out of this, it will be a heightened American appreciation for "gridlock," AKA the separate but coequal branches of government actually exercising their "checks and balances" roles. Maybe that works best when the same party doesn't share the legislative and the executive, and it would certainly work better if the legislative didn't extensively and repeatedly, for decades and decades, abdicate their responsibility to write clear, understandable, actionable legislation and leave it to the judiciary to read meaning into the statutes, resulting in supreme court nominations being even more hotly contested than the presidential election itself¸ which should be very nearly as boring.

Obama sayeth:
When Joe and Kamala are in charge, they’re not going to surround themselves with hacks and lobbyists, but they’re going to appoint qualified public servants who actually care

Reality sayeth:Obama administration packed with lobbyists he vowed not to hire.
President Obama has hired more than 100 lobbyists in his administration, a new academic study reports. This doesn't match Obama's campaign promise to exclude lobbyists, or his pretenses of having kept that promise.

"President Obama's public rhetoric on contact with lobbyists does not always accord with his private actions," lobbying scholar Conor McGrath writes in the latest issue of the Journal of Public Affairs.

If you don't understand why that's a laughable understatement, you should read McGrath's paper - or at least study Table 1 and Table 2, which list the lobbyists who entered the Obama administration and the administration officials who have cashed out to K Street.

McGrath's lobbyist count in the Obama administration is the most thorough count to date. If you ask Team Obama, they have hired zero lobbyist - Obama said in his 2010 State of the Union "we have excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs." David Axelrod said in 2011 that Obama "has ended the revolving door between industry and government.... He doesn't, uh, hire lobbyists."

Politico reported last year that Obama had hired "more than a dozen" lobbyists. I compiled a list of 60 lobbyists in senior jobs. Turns out, I was giving Obama too much credit.

McGrath finds 119 former lobbyists in the Obama administration. The administration employs former in-house lobbyists from Microsoft, Fannie Mae, insurance giant Wellpoint, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Monsanto, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, Raytheon, and Goldman Sachs. Obama has hired from the ranks of K Street firms Cassidy & Associates, Covington & Burling, Heather Podesta & Partners, Akin Gump, Arnold & Porter, Winston & Strawn, Timmons & Co., and others.

Anyone who has to deal with being a Trump supporter with close family who are fervent progressives can tell you the actual truth of the matter- it is the Trump supporters who are forced to be silent just for the sake of family peace- not the other way around. None of my progressive family members feel any inhibition at all in writing and saying derogatory things about Trump voters- their only concession is to not do it while speaking or writing to me, but they all put it there where I often get to read it, and where they know I will read it. When talk does turn to politics anyway at family gatherings, it is never myself that broach the topic- I simply know better. I am pretty sure the things I write online aren't read by any of them, but I won't censor myself here or elsewhere online. In short, you won't find me commenting on politics of any kind on a Facebook page.

Of all the gaslighting the Democrat Propaganda Media has spewed out the past four years, the idea that Trump is a chronic liar is perhaps one of their biggest flames. The Washington Post compiles a breathless list of "20,000 Lies Trump Tells!!!!!!!" — but dig into them and you'll find they all depend on willful misinterpretation of rhetorical statements, the inability to acknowledge or recognize humor, an autistic literalism, or sheer misrepresentation. Trump is hyperbolic and off-the-cuff, but as Scott Adams says: he is directionally accurate. Joe Biden, on the other hand, is an old-timey pandering politician who will lie at the drop of a hat. He will say anything to one group of people, then say the exact opposite to the next group if that's what they want to hear. Look at fracking. It is inescapable that Biden has come out against fracking during the primaries. He has said explicitly, "I will end fracking. I will end fossil fuels." But now that he needs votes in Pennsylvania, he says "I never said that." And Biden is so used to lying, he can say it with a straight face. Obama understands this kind of lying. Obama said, during a 2008 debate, that he would "renegotiate NAFTA." But the very next day his campaign was on the phone to Canadian ambassadors to tell them to disregard what Obama had said. He explained his statements as "the overheated rhetoric of the campaign." That's what old-timey politicians think of their statements: overheated rhetoric. When Kamala Harris was called on her attack of Joe Biden as a racist during the primary, she brushed it off by saying: "It was a debate." By which she means: she'll say anything if it gains her power, then say the opposite later. But back to Joe. Didn't he have to drop out of his first presidential run because he plagiarized speeches from other politicians? Didn't all the major networks run an expose of his bogus biography? Biden claimed to be the first in his class, garnering three (count ‘em: three!!!) scholarships. Turns out he was in the bottom of his class and only had a single half-scholarship. But Obama thinks old-timey political lying is just what we need back in the White House. Old-timey politicians operate as if the American people are stupid—they don't need to know what’s going on. Remember Hillary Clinton's Goldman Sachs speeches that she wouldn't release? On them she said a politician needed two policies: one they told the public, and one they implemented in private. That's what you’ll get with a Biden presidency: a feeble old man who acts as a cardboard prop for the shadowy dark forces typing his teleprompter speeches and writing his policies. A pandering public shill for private power. The deep state won't need to hide so deeply anymore, as long as they can stand behind the curtains in the Oval Office. Joe Biden will lie to cover for them, as long as there's a few bucks kickback in it for him. Remember Hunter Biden? Joe said he never discussed Hunter's business dealings. Now we know (from Hunter's own business partners) that Joe got a kickback on all money paid, and was involved in all major decisions. In other words, Joe lied. Joe is happy if he gets the dirty moola. He'll lie and lie for that sweet sweet succor. But Obama is all in for that stuff. After all, it’s the Chicago Way.

And of course as you say there are many instances of their reporting on things that could not be verified (because they were disinformation) yet these same people reported on them obsessively for years.

Have you seen the pathetic crowd at this rally? Oh sure, pack the place with cars and hope no one notices that Barack has ZERO juice anymore, even in his former urban stronghold. The day was that people would get out of their cars, and even with social distancing be 5000 strong. Now, of course, the people of Philadelphia see another grinning, jiving fool who took his and got the hell away from black people. Say what you want about Trump rallies, but even with enforced size reductions they look far more impressive than this desperate attempt to stay relevant. Would a free concert have brought people in? Maybe, but that's the problem. Does an artist want to be humiliated when people stay home rather than see them FOR FREE?

Oh, why don't I address what he said? Who cares what liars say. Personally, I want Barack Obama to see the hanging corpses of everyone ELSE who followed him, while he cowers in a bolt hole in Iran (or Toronto, whatever), knowing he can never come back.

Then again, Canada loves this shiftless jackass so much he might consider himself well rid of America.

Truly a wolf in sheep's clothing. When I see or hear him that always comes to mind. His politics are far far left but he is good at appearing moderate. Its an impressive skill. I believe that he is still in charge of the Democrats behind the scenes, quietly pulling the strings. I think Biden is in play because of him. Couldn't have Bernie running because he is too honest and could never get elected but Biden can appear moderate and is easily dispensable. I am sure Obama et al know of Biden's propensity for corruption. That makes him controllable. He also is not so smart. In that sense he is the ideal candidate to be controlled by the hidden powers that be.

The Democrats are good at pulling together because they are the party of the collective. They truly believe in the collectivity. For them the collectivity is always worth fighting for even if it means having to tell a few white lies like, "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor." Republicans not so much because they are the party of the individual. That's why Republicans often seem so hopeless compared to the Dems because they always fight amongst themselves as they push their individuality. Trump is of course the ultimate individualist and that is why he has to be completely a totally destroyed!! We cant have an example like him undermining the collective.

He may have lost a few miles on his "heater" and has to rely on his curveball and change up. But he can still bring horse manure by the wagon load when he wants to. And he did it here.

Who argues politics at an extended family dinner and keeps shoving "progressive pabulum' in your face? It's not old Uncle Charlie who has voted the straight Republican ticket all his life and knows that you don't discuss politics, religion or sex at table.

Of course Obama is right that the "fact checkers"---busy little Democrat operatives that they are, can take a four year vacation if Biden and Harris occupy the White House. Actually it's more a leave of absence. Their bosses will tell them "nothing to see here--wait until a Republican occupies the White House again".

Odd how Democrats, who back in the day denounced Ronnie Reagan, GHW Bush, and GW Bush as Hitler reincarnate, with added evil, today compare them favorably to Trump as decent and honorable and respectable presidents who accomplished worthy goals and improved the country. Trump being Uber-Hitler now, of course, until the next Republican president, despite Trump's massive successes in our domestic economy and foreign policy.

Also odd: James Earl Carter, William Jefferson Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama all had presidencies where, despite massive failures of domestic and foreign policy, they were defended as honorable and respectable presidents during their scandal rich tenures. But now, all three are seen as extremely tarnished tin plated divas, whose presidencies were failures both foreign and domestic. And they are all three pretty slimy characters as human beings, too.

I'm seeing a pattern. How about you?

Yes, if everyone claims to be on the same side politically, there will not be any exhausting political arguments. Unfortunately, the argument works just as well for Trump. And neither is remotely convincing, because just because some guy is President doesn't mean that you are forced to agree with him. It's a pity that no one deployed that argument in 2017, but it's BS either way. We still have freedom of thought -- at least, I think we do -- and that means that even if there's a Harris Administration -- no, sorry, a Harris Administration with Joe Biden -- I have the right not to agree with it.

The Thanksgiving argument issue is not because who is President, but the self-control of the diners. I can assure you that Thanksgiving arguments typically arise from two stubborn people who can't stand other people being "wrong" and then aggravating everyone else because this is the most important thing ever overriding all decorum and manners. Politics is a "fun" topic for these sort of fiascos, but I can assure you that they can arise from non-partisan family matters quite easily, and low stakes mundane "who cares" stuff like math or history can cause arguments just as vicious. Been there, done that.

It is this sort of people that make Twitter what it is.

Mike Rowe, on Facebook...

Yesterday, I had a chat with my neighbor, Claire, a lovely woman who loves Facebook, and thinks Returning the Favor is the best show ever. Like many of my neighbors, Claire applauded Facebook’s decision to suppress the Post article. Yesterday, while walking our respective mutts, she said to me, “How could any fair-minded person possibly object to waiting for a story like this be verified before it shows up in millions of news feeds?”
As I retrieved one of Freddy’s perfectly formed turds, I considered her question. “Before I answer, Claire, let me ask you something. Imagine the recovered laptop belonged to Donald Trump, Jr. Imagine The New York Times published an article that claimed the FBI was in possession of emails that implicated the President. Would you really want Facebook and Twitter to suppress a New York Times story, simply because they hadn’t verified it as 100% true?”

To her credit, Claire answered me honestly. “No,” she said. “I’d want that story to be out there for everyone to see.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Because Donald Trump has to go,” she said. “And sometimes, the ends justify the means.”

I heard a radio ad this evening in which a young African American man tries to claim that Trump has done nothing for blacks, and that "almost 20% of Americans who have died of Covid are black" - if Biden feels the need to spend money in late October to try to convince African Americans to vote for him, their internal numbers must be horrifying.

I stopped at the "... won't surround themselves with hacks and lobbyists..." If any phrase describes both Biden and Harris, it would be "surrounds self with hacks and lobbyists."

That is surreal. Obama always lied his head off, he just cannot stop. Trump exaggerates or thinks out loud (not a good habit for a President, true) or tries to compliment people he wants something from (naively, imho; what works in NYC real estate does not necessarily work with Xi Jinping), and they call it lies and we are supposed to be outraged. They lie their heads off, strategically, with calculation, ALL THE TIME, year after year, and we are not supposed to even notice.

I found interesting the reference to Biden and Harris together... getting us ready for when they defenestrate Biden and put the one they wanted all along in place. The Democratic Party voters disliked her in late 2019 and early 2020, she had to drop out before the first primary despite all the support from the Party elite and media, and now they are going to jam her down everybody's throats, anyway.

Biden's problem is that he's been around so long that he has a record. People know who he is and he can't be a blank screen for people to project their fantasies on, as Obama was in 2008.

But now Obama has a record. He's golfing Barry, Martha's Vineyard Barry, Netflix Barry, $65 million dollar book deal Barry, not so scandal-free administration Barry -- you don't even have to make up things about him to be scandalous anymore -- so it's hard for people to take his populist appeals seriously. They know that he goes back to his mansions and back to his very privileged life.

My suggestion is, pick up a hammer and start building houses for the poor with Jimmy Carter.
