Smooth Sumac. Soybeans are the usual first color.

Police did not kill George Floyd.

Everyone was played.

And they're going to be played again when the officers are acquitted. And they will riot. Again.

Which is exactly why Keith Ellison overcharged in the first place.

Might be something wrong with that sumac if it's changing this early. Sumac's are very pretty in the fall though, deep maroon and red.

We’ve had cool weather this past week. Temps in 50s at night.

Is that an anaconda in your tree?

Or are you just glad to see us?

The weather has turned here at my location in Maine. Air is dry and the temperature is mid-70's during the day. Got down to 52 over night last night. With the WFH regime summer should have dragged on but somehow it seems to have gone by quickly.

It'll be September before I know it.

I was searching up Hillry’s advances and came upon this blast from the past:

The Clinton campaign tried to reschedule the Illinois presidential primary to a month later, so as to make it less likely that a moderate Republican would get a boost following the Super Tuesday primaries.

Hillary’s campaign was trying to place obstacles in the path of any Republican who had a chance against Trump. She was certain she was a lead pipe cinch to beat him.

It's warm in Texas but this summer hasn't been nearly as hot as the last two. It's 92 degrees in DFW at 11:48 a.m.. The last two years there were 110 days several times, but I don't think we have had anything like that this year, at least not yet. I went over to the gym for yoga this morning and when I got out of the car, I caught the scent of August cut grass and football. Every year this happens. In high school we started fall practice on August 1st and when I catch this scent for the first time each year since, I have the same pleasant nostalgic experience. It think the cut grass smells different in August. It's the first scent of Autumn.

Yes. Notice today is the halfway point between the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox. That means, around the 89th parallel, daylength begins to fall below 14 hours, a micro-aggression which triggers plant hormones — cytokinins mostly but also auxins and gibberellins — to virtue signal to the Sumac to begin under-performing and to stop producing green chlorophyll, letting the existing chlorophyll degrade, unmasking the less dominant non-binary pigments — yellow-orange-red carotenoids, purple anthocyanin and red to red-violet betalains. Photosynthesis slows and sugar storage begins for the long winter of snowflakes and Sumac safe spaces.

This has been such a weird summer. School basically got out in March, so not much changed in late June. Then we didn't take any of our usual vacations, visits, or hosting visitors. No camps, just sitting around month after month and now it's August and school starts (supposedly) in a few weeks, and what the hell happened to our summer? It didn't start or stop and yet somehow manages to be nearly over.

Holy crap! It's official now! The New York Times has deigned to do some reporting.

"He blamed the destruction and looting on “opportunists,” but also said that much of the damage on Capitol Hill came from a distinct contingent of violent, armed white activists. “It’s antifa,” he said. “They don’t want to see the progress we’ve made. They want chaos.”"

And now we have the under oath testimony (Inga and LLR-lefties hate under oath testimony!) from none other than Christopher Steele that validates what has been spoken about for almost 4 years which Inga and LLR-lefty C**** called a conspiracy theory: FusionGPS/Glenn Simpson fed Christopher Steele the specific items to "investigate" (illegal FISA702 database info laundering) which Steele then included in his hoax dossier which was then fed to the waiting hands of Brennan and Comey and Clapper to use as the basis for the hoax russia collusion coup.

And just how did FusionGPS/Glenn Simpson get their hands on the FISA702 database surveillance info? Fusion's employee Nellie Ohr and other democrat operatives being given carte blanche to use the FISA 702 database for oppo research by Comey/Clapper/Brennan and....obama/biden....all the while Bruce Ohr, Yates #2, was working to coordinate all of it with the FBI via DOJ channels......which Sally Yates claims she knew nothing about (wink wink).

"Steele admitting he was acting "at Fusion's instruction" at key moments (i.e. while willfully breaking FBI protocol) is suggestive of Steele acting under similar instruction to reach @SergeiMillian as an "investigative-target"..."

And all this emerged from Christopher Steele's under oath testimony in a London Court which Inga claimed never happened!

In more bad news for the marxist dems/LLR's, the lowball estimate of 167,000 July jobs growth number which ARM and other Beijing lackeys were crowing about turns out to be.....1.8 million with a commensurate drop in the unemployment rate.

It goes without saying that all the job growth is occurring in red states and the best part of that is knowing it makes certain LLR's insanely sad and filled with rage!

The staffers on the shithead side of the wall at the WSJ placed that fact in tiny text below the big headline Covid-19 Pandemic Triggers Wave of Long-Term Unemployment. At least they reported it...

Yes, in my view of the seasons, today is the beginning of the season of equality, the most equal light/darkness days. The fall equinox lies in the center of these days. There is an equivalent season of equality around the spring equinox.

The 3 lightest months are OVER as of today. Sleeping should be easier now with the rebalance (and the coolness helps too).

i see where you're coming from. I always think of it as: the season of change
This is when the change of sunrise/sunset times are the fastest.
By the end of next week (which coincides with the traditional end of The Iowa State Fair*);
it will be getting dark NOTICEABLY earlier and earlier

It wasn't painful. The only painful thing was one of the 3 shots of novocaine. And I had the nitrous, so that gives you some distance from the whole affair, which seems like an insane excavation of your head. I had my AirPods in and was listening to an audiobook. Had to put it super loud to be heard over the screaming drill. Didn't understand a word of the book, but grabbed at individual words and phrases and tripped out on them.

I dunno, I think a civil case jury would find proximate cause in the neck restraint. Soft-skulled plaintiff and all. Ka-ching!

Criminal jury trial has politics to fret about.

Had a root canal on March 17 this year, literally the day before Gov Baker shutdown non-Covid doctor visits. Had to wait until June 3 for the two week follow-up appointment. Having a temporary for all that time was quite disconcerting.

My root canal wasn't painful either, for the same reasons you mention. However, once the novocaine wore off I was very sore. The doctor offered me opioids for the pain but I settled on 400 mg of ibuprofen which worked great. Took two full days for the soreness to subside completely.

The Anglo-Saxons knew the division of the calendar into four seasons but also lived in a year that had two: 'summer' that ended with the harvest, Lammas and Lammastide, from the kalends of August, i.e. about now, more or less, and 'winter', from the end of the harvest through the months of cold, ending perhaps in March.

gpm said...

>>Notice today is the halfway point between the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox.

Approximated by the festival of Lammas, along with Candlemas (in early February), Beltane (in early May, often celebrated by riotous outdoor sexual congress), and All Hallows/Saints Day (mixing up Christian and pre-Christian stuff here). The midpoints between the solstices and equinoxes.
