"Moms."

Yep, just like Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was executed and that civil rights guy who died recently. If one of those police whopped them upside the head, they could be a congresswomen and forever live off the government breast milk while reminding us every day that they were whopped upside the head.

Moms! Bigger heroes than the guys on Iwo Jima.

Good grief, what drama queens.

If they think the rest of the country wants to be going through what Portland is they are insane. Showing what is going on there will increase trump votes not decrease them.

The CCP should be proud that these "fake moms" are pushing copy cat meme's daily served up by their Party. Follow the money, then we'll know who's behind this organized effort. Organic peaceful protesters my ass!

According to eyewitnesses- not moms...

Also, Buchanan was not President when these events occurred.

Somebody needs to clue the Lincoln Project that the Wall of Moms has turned out to be "anti-black".

Wow...was that insufferable...and I have to point out that the worst president in history was the previous guy.

So...communist moms...I dub thee 'Momunists.'

They do not deserve to live in a free country better people than them died to protect.

It is time for a bunch of enemies of freedom to leave.

Lies enriched with outright hatred of Trump and an assumption that we aren't paying attention to what's really happening and who/what these "moms" are.

I once offered a job to one of the lincoln project founders. At the time his father, who runs a blog-site that used to be conservative, was a good friend. His son was a poorly paid advance man for "W" at the time. When Trump won the nomination, they both went off the rails and became part of the original neverTrumpers. Completely intellectually dishonest hacks.

These lincoln project people are sad, ethically challenged misanthropes who long ago gave up any claim to respect. They deserve our everlasting contempt.

It takes a significant amount of willful ignorance to be persuaded by this but I’m sure the usual suspects are up to the task.

Amazing what deceptive editing can do. Not to mention the costume designer deserves an Oscar, although maybe the real genius was the casting director who had people who don’t even identify female dress up to play “moms” in the videos, and the antifa chicks who did put yellow on for the cameras don’t have any kids. All told there’s maybe three real mothers among the mobbing moms. But antifa-approved camera work, since no other is allowed in Portland, is excellent, framing the fascists heroically and trying their best to make the Feds appear to be attacking the PM. Good acting all round. Special mention should go to the prop masters able to create 300 shields a week in prep for this shoot and the months of planning that culminated in this propaganda masterpiece. Kudos Hitler Project! You’ve done your job!

More trash from the Lincoln Project. Andy Ngo says many (most?) of these women are rioters and has the mugshots and video to prove it.

Yikes on that timing. Wall of Moms was canceled ~Thursday. Turns out they were racist white supremacists who were abusing black bodies for their own personal, greedy gain.

I remain unconvinced of their honesty, integrity, and virtue. Are they all "moms" really? Juxtaposing video of Federal troops with video of the Wall of Moms doesn't make them victims of some sort of State malfeasance. Weren't the Wall of Moms called out as unhelpful and insufficiently sensitive to Black folks the other day?

Oops, hold on a minute Moms

When I first heard about the Lincoln Project I thought that attacks on Trump by legitimate Republicans could hurt him, but clearly the folks behind the Lincoln Project are not legitimate Republicans. I suppose there are real Republicans who oppose Trump's re-election and suppport Biden as our next President. But even they would not have produced this ad. Real Republicans only cheer on mobs like those that attacked the Democrats' Convention in Chicago. And we were a little ashamed of doing so. We would not make heroines of the rioters in Portland, Minneapolis, Austin, etc. Even if they were all "Moms".

It seems okay to me. That's the narrative being offered ("news," meaning your reality) to those who want to live in it. The only question is what fraction of the population that is. Soap opera women plus who.

I think the Lincoln Project should run this ad as often as they can wherever they can, so they can learn how repulsive Portland Moms are to the rest of the country. Portland, the armpit of Oregon. (There is a reason my pseudonym is BamaBadgOR.)

Bilwick said...

Is that ad a parody? It's like "Let's get all the stupid rhetoric of the Left and put it in an ad about the Wall of Lesbian Moms."

CWJ said...

Played it with the sound off. I don't know. My emotional reaction was that this was an effective piece of propaganda. The feds really don't look good here. It fails intellectually of course. You have to keep asking what exactly are these people "protesting," and reprising the hands up don't shoot canard undercuts the whole enterprise. But that's not the level of those for whom this clip is meant.

Ice Nine said...

Weird coincidence: The three Fed agents protecting the Fed courthouse who were blinded by Antifa asshole's lasers have moms.

The Althouse page opens with the video image under "Moms" showing law enforcement personnel mostly wearing camo.A female cop dressed in black is at the center.I did not notice the little Lincoln in the corner, so I was expecting the video to illustrate that uniformed "Moms" of all races are part of the law enforcement community facing down the rioters trying to destroy their country.Instead - ugh.

So, what can one say about the Lincoln Project? Scam artists raking off liberal Republican dough to run ads for Democrats? Scam artists feasting on Democrat dough claiming that they represent substantial numbers of Republicans?

Scam artists for sure.

I don’t know anyone who voted for Trump last time who is going to switch. I know a number of people who voted against Trump last time or stayed home who are switching this time.

Wait, "Lincoln Project"? Is that asshole Rick Wilson behind this too? Doing the work so that Dems don't have to.

Bob Loblaw said...

So, what can one say about the Lincoln Project? Scam artists raking off liberal Republican dough to run ads for Democrats? Scam artists feasting on Democrat dough claiming that they represent substantial numbers of Republicans?

The latter, I think. They've managed to convince a few Democratic billionaires they have a Republican following they can split from the party in November. I doubt it's true, or at least true in any electorally meaningful way.

You can kind of see the bind they're in. The whole point of being a party apparatchik is you get a job when your party is in power. It might be third undersecretary for Ghanian Religious Affairs, but it pays well and has a spending account. Trump made something of a rookie mistake when he arrived in Washington by leaving the Rick Wilsons of the world out in the cold, since it meant their only career play was to turn coat and shill for the other party.

Rory said...

"Scam artists for sure."

Any pretense of principle is refuted by not running a primary candidate. How can you be the conscience of a party if you won't take your case to its voters?

Floris said...

I know a lot of actual moms. None of them own tactical helmets or gas masks.

Jupiter said...

It occurs to me that Rick Wilson may be the rare camel that it is better to have outside the tent, attempting to piss in. Or, who knows, maybe he really is a Republican, and he's trying to get Trump reelected. This does make the federal agents look rather brutal, until you happen to recall that these "Moms" have supposedly come together to defend their children's right to riot, loot and burn. Maybe the shirts should say "He Dindu Nuffin!".

Banjo said...

The Wall of Moms lasted about two days before the schismatics began quarreling over the unripened spoils. A couple of more days and there would have been plenty for everyone when the New York network teams arrived on the scene to cast their magic spells, but the plantation blacks figured out the haughty ladies in the Big Houses were going to unfairly profit yet again from the honest sweat of their bodies and brows and also take their men like with the high-paid atha-leets.

Lars Porsena said...

I won’t believe they’re Moms unless I see their stretch marks.

Amadeus: "I don’t know anyone who voted for Trump last time who is going to switch."

Thats why it was so important for LLR-lefty Chuck to try and establish the fiction that he voted for Trump last time around after advocating passionately for every Hillary policy. Nobody was buying his concern troll Moby schtick any longer.

Pops apparently are home cleaning up the garbage and debris after moms destroyed their own store and livelihood.

Mea Sententia said...

I watched it first without sound, just to focus on the images. Nothing I hadn't seen before. What the federal officers do, like shoving people to the ground, doesn't disturb me because of the larger context.

Then watched a second time with sound. Certainly effective with a (presumably) white female voice and ominous music. It works as a kind of visceral propaganda, which it is meant to be. If I didn't know what the not-so-peaceful protesters have been doing there the last two months, this video would probably persuade me.

Watching this reminds me how in the US right now, people really are viewing alternate realities, not only about Portland but about everything else.

Elections do matter. You get what you vote for. Portland voted very poorly. Ask yourself: If I lived there, would I have voted for the people who allow and even support this complete lawless destruction of their city I expect Althouse, Inga, Howard, ARM, and a few others here would have for the same reason they still think the people who voted otherwise are dupes.

so, serious questions

i understand,
that the rioters and their mothers are protesting Federal efforts to NOT lose the courthouse
BUT,
I don't really understand some things....
WHY did the rioters start rioting against the Feds, BEFORE THE FEDS GOT THERE?
WHY are the rioters continuing to riot AFTER the Fed left?

Unknown said...

The Mom's video sorta gives away the game. While some of the early on violence was spontaneous with raw emotions, and opportunistic crime - that has mostly burned out. What we have now is people going out of their way night after night to frustrate the police with taunts, defiance, vandalism, and non-lethal assaults. This protest violence is organized with the goal of creating a Kent State incident.

Ken B said...

This reminds me of the way Voltaire (I think) said you could insult a king: praise him for things that are obviously untrue.

It's parody, right? Imagine Sarah Cooper lip syncing to that narration!

daskol said...

This has the feel of psy-ops rather than genuine campaigning. There is no constituency behind these Lincoln Project people besides big money donors and organizations that are probably laundering money in order to create the impression of a larger based of support. They are deep state operatives, always have been, not super powerful but with some sway, and they're just continuing their campaign against Trump, loosely coordinated with the rest of the attacks on him. So this video falls flat because there's only cynical calculation behind it, not genuine emotion or even ideological verve, it's just good enough for government work.

Lots of tits and ass but no hot babes.

Yes, if real advertising or Hollywood talent were behind this, if it weren't just "government work," it would be a lot more effective.

Sad!

I wonder if they focus grouped this. It doesn’t work on me, but I’m not the target audience. Low information suburban white women are the target of this ad. Does it work on them? Maybe it does. The dishonesty of it is not the point, the only question is whether it’s effective.

Too bad there was no cellphone camera running when an Antifa member shivved a Black Portland conservative in the back. The guy had it coming, of course, because he wasn't grateful enough for Antifa's unswerving two weeks of support for BLM. Naturally this devotion to justice for African Americans had to be set aside when Donald Trump, "the worst president in American history," sent "storm troopers" into quiet, sleepy, downtown Portland.

Too bad Andy Ngo, that dogged little gay Asian guy who recognizes Antifa members on sight, recognized some of the "Moms" in the first demonstrations as Antifa participants just several days earlier -- they'd cleverly switched their black shirts for yellow ones. Perhaps they left their firecrackers and Molotov cocktails at home too.

Shame on the Lincoln Project. And shame on both our parties, neither of which stands for anything but winning for its team or its faction of its team -- the rest of us be damned.

As cynical as I get, I just can't keep up.

It's laughable that anyone thinks a group of law enforcement officers would pepper spray women peacefully protesting. It defies credulity.

The whitehouse bunker story is also ridiculous. The secret service told DJT that there is a bunker if protesters overran the whitehouse. A theoretical oh by the way comment.

Trump thought it was interesting that there was a bunker and wanted to see it.

It's ironic the spin that gets, given that Biden has literally been living in a literal bunker for five months.
