"If they are using their own golf carts on wide open outdoor course with few other people, why would they require masks? Can somebody point me evidence that would be necessary?"

The people pushing this panic have goals that have nothing to do with the virus or mitigation.

The sheep that are panicking do not think for themselves.

That is why none of this makes sense.

Walked by the local golf course today and it was absolutely poppin’. Not a mask in sight. That CNN so desperately wants to shame Trump into wearing a mask is a sure sign that it’s a bad move for him.

Masks are useless against a virus. They can stop droplets from a sneeze, or cough, but unless the person is doing either, there is no need for a mask.

Thinking about what I wrote above, it occurs to me that CNN is making yesterday’s argument and Trump is making tomorrow’s. Wonder which one the voters want to identify with?

Actually I don’t wonder at all. Was at a barbecue yesterday evening with a diverse group of people. Shaking hands. Sitting in a close circle around the fire. No masks. A bald eagle skimmed low over the field next to us, hunting in the gloaming. ‘Murica!

Also in the no mask group are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady.

FullMoon said...

Oh sure. Millions at risk going to churches unprotected and Trump costs taxpayers another million dollars to play golf.

Just another example of his lack of concern for average American and proof that he has top secret info proving virus in not airborne and he is keeping proof from populace in order to keep blacks, women and other minorities down.

Probaly cheating on his score also.

First off - CNN would erupt in happy coincidence Clintonian orgasm if Trump caught Chi-Com covid and died.

In one of the Brit papers there was an article about how to deal with mask tan lines. Nothing to worry about if you never leave the house.

I see probably 200 people a day walking down the street in front of my house. Mostly in small family groups. Lots of baby carriages.

I haven't seen a mask yet.

Correct! A mask isn't for protection, or prevention; a mask is your way of showing that you have kowtowed to the government, and agree to let Them Run Your Life.
This is why, it is Completely Okay, to be like Alyssa Milano, and wear a crocheted mask

Trump needs to wear a mask for the same reason Kramer needed to wear a ribbon.

That course looks just like my neighbor-s cow pasture. If Trump has hit his ball into a cowpie, is that a hazard that would require a mask to hit out of the cowpie? God forbid a fleck of bullshit gets in the President's eye!

The Covid mask as Pussy Hat, all symbol, no substance?

My bigger concern is Trump's swing. Not exactly, or really too close to that of Charles Barkley, but certainly not something you should try to emulate. You might hurt yourself. Does anyone know his handicap? I bet he doesn't lie about his score.

I plan to golf tomorrow. It will be interesting to see the behavior of my foursome partners. They aren't people I know so it will be a surprise. I bet they'll be more talk about the cigar I light at about the fourth hole.

I've been out golfing and there isn't a mask to be seen. The rules are one to a cart, only touch your own ball, don't touch the pin, and social distance from the others you are playing with. Not hard to do on a golf course.

You've just gone shopping with your cloth mask on. When you get home, do you:
A) Discard it, because it might have covid-19 virus on it.
B) Wash it, because it might have covid-19 virus on it.
C) leave it laying on the car seat.

Masks so prevalent outdoors in Silicon Valley that we rebels nod to each other. Same during normal times at gym, where there are majority of Asians, so us round eyes, black, white, or brown do the same thing. Subtle, secret acknowledgement, like Masons, Knights Templar, or Skulls.

In stores we gotta wer 'em, and if walking, I distance myself from maskers. Common courtesy. If they believe virus floating around me, why make them nervous?

@LW: C).

What do I win? Ate in a restaurant last night (50% cap., masked staff) for the first time since mid-March or so.

Lots of people out and about, maskers/non-maskers about 50/50. If a business wants me to wear a mask I will put one on, if only my dirty bandanna, and I maintain social distancing pretty well anyway and always have.

One thing I notice is that people need to enunciate better with masks on. Maybe public speaking and elocution will make a comeback to compensate for widespread masking.

D) Wad it up and stick it in the console with the other used masks that people give you (force you to wear) when you go to some places. I don't have cloth masks. They are even more useless than the fakey paper ones.

I saw a lady (middle aged) in the market yesterday with a mask and blue gloves. I'm sure she really, really cares.

Also she is a Democrat.

Named Karen. Probably.

True story. This happened to me today:

I went to my local ice cream shop for a milkshake. About half the customers had masks. I did not, but I'm not making an issue of it. I just didn't see the need for one, and left mine in the car. Every single worker at the shop had a mask. There were about eight of them.

The young man who took my order went back to start my milkshake. I watched him touch his mask with his hand for a couple of seconds. He literally fondled the mask at the front, in the area that covered his mouth and nose, either to adjust it or to scratch an itch. Then he proceeded to touch various containers and utensils with the same hand.

Now, I don't really care. I doubt I'm in any danger. Thankfully there were no "Nancy's" around to rebuke him. But what, precisely, is the point of this mask theater? If there were any viruses on that mask, they went from the mask to his hand, to everything he touched, including the milkshake he handed me. That one mask was a contaminant, not a protection. I don't fault the guy - he was a teenager. What training has he received? How long is he expected to work in a store with a mask and not adjust it? What procedure is he expected to follow?

The point being, I don't take this seriously, nor does anyone I know.

Oops, I meant Karen's, not Nancy's. I actually was thinking of "Nervous Nancy," Lol. Trump got in my head. Well done, sir.

I've played 13 rounds since the courses opened here in SoCal, and I can attest that masks are not required on the course. In common areas off the course if there are herds of people gathered yes.

About masks, a neighbor pointed out yesterday that if a fart can pass through several layers of clothing, how good is a cloth mask at stopping anything?

Open air, open space (no greenhouse effect), effective social distance multiplier. No sustained contact. He's been following the Planned Pathogen (PP) protocol to abort and/or deny the viability of the virus. That said, they need to trace the transmission vector, including immigration, migration, business and pleasure, and poor hygienic habits that have sustained progress of the virus in America and across communities.

You take the groceries off it, smooth it out, drop it as you reach over to pick up your coffee cup, take it in to wash it, put it on its special mask pedestal, forget to wash it, and pick it up to take out next time you for groceries because it's your favorite, least suffocating mask, tell yourself that germs kill other germs and sunlit dust is clean and a sort of cousin anyhow so unwashed doesn't matter, drop it on the seat, put it on at the grocery store while taking a quiet moment to be mindful of how you hate the government and don't forget lemons, and, before you know it, you're putting the groceries on it again. We're captive on the carousel of time.

Got a couple of N99 masks for my Lovely Bride and myself. Wear them grocery shopping and when I got a haircut. Lots of folks wearing masks at the grocery store until this week when Texas relaxed the rules. Our masks decon in the 90+ degree heat in our parked car.

The masks may be theater, but I'll play along for a while longer. It costs me nothing and it makes my wife feel more secure. We're both in the high risk category (65+ years old). Masks are now voluntary in Texas and the death has decreased (zero in San Antonio this last Saturday).

There has been such a lack of consistency among the experts, that their creditability is about zero. We'll continue ro wash our hands, social distance, and wear masks for a while and see.

Tables 6 feet apart

The latest guidance from military scientists in Wuhan is social... physical distancing of 3 m, 6 if you follow the precautionary principle. Also, don't forget the mask and goggles, and follow a maintenance protocol to mitigate cross-contamination. Oh, and, perhaps, a Planned Pathogen (PP) protocol to deny life and offspring to the virus in order to mitigate its progress and burden.
