To be fair, we are all forgetting about Tulsi. And Tulsi isn't a Senator. I think Kamala meant women of my rank when she said "I had two women colleagues in the race." Senators are not "colleagues" of the folk in the lower house. The OED gives the etymology:
< French collègue, < Latin collēga , one chosen along with another, a partner in office, etc.; < col- together + legĕre to choose, etc.The OED points me to "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon, and I wanted to give you the full passage, because it's about separation of powers in government:
Ostentation was the first principle of the new system instituted by Diocletian. The second was division. He divided the empire, the provinces, and every branch of the civil as well as military administration. He multiplied the wheels of the machine of government, and rendered its operations less rapid, but more secure. Whatever advantages and whatever defects might attend these innovations, they must be ascribed in a very great degree to the first inventor; but as the new frame of policy was gradually improved and completed by succeeding princes, it will be more satisfactory to delay the consideration of it till the season of its full maturity and perfection. Reserving, therefore, for the reign of Constantine a more exact picture of the new empire, we shall content ourselves with describing the principal and decisive outline, as it was traced by the hand of Diocletian. He had associated three colleagues in the exercise of the supreme power; and as he was convinced that the abilities of a single man were inadequate to the public defence, he considered the joint administration of four princes not as a temporary expedient, but as a fundamental law of the constitution. It was his intention, that the two elder princes should be distinguished by the use of the diadem, and the title of Augusti; that, as affection or esteem might direct their choice, they should regularly call to their assistance two subordinate colleagues; and that the Cæsars, rising in their turn to the first rank, should supply an uninterrupted succession of emperors. The empire was divided into four parts. The East and Italy were the most honorable, the Danube and the Rhine the most laborious stations. The former claimed the presence of the Augusti, the latter were intrusted to the administration of the Cæsars. The strength of the legions was in the hands of the four partners of sovereignty, and the despair of successively vanquishing four formidable rivals might intimidate the ambition of an aspiring general. In their civil government, the emperors were supposed to exercise the undivided power of the monarch, and their edicts, inscribed with their joint names, were received in all the provinces, as promulgated by their mutual councils and authority. Notwithstanding these precautions, the political union of the Roman world was gradually dissolved, and a principle of division was introduced, which, in the course of a few years, occasioned the perpetual separation of the Eastern and Western Empires.

The leftwing fems are clawing at a lucrative position in Biden's cabinet.
Democrat positions come with power AND money.
Yes, she genuinely likes Biden."
"The endorsement was real.
She'd GLADLY suck his cock; i she thought it would advance her career
Kamala genuinely wants to be VP or Attorney General.
Endorsing racist pro-busing Biden is the price she is willing and eager to pay.
It's one thing to see the Dems line up like clones to get behind a doddering version of Joe Biden. It's another thing, though not surprising at all, to see the press line up clearly and without any question, behind Joe Biden. They will now take up the mantle of protecting him and, if any facts do get out, defending him. It is their job now to make sure that nothing bad about Joe (or Hunter) get much press play.
They will start by saying "This is old news. It's been covered and investigated already."
Does she know Tulsi Gabbard is still in the race? Not a friend?
Leftie women sticking together...
Wow. It was just a few short weeks ago she was calling Biden a racist.
The Democrats plan is coming into focus. Drag the confused, cognitive challenged Biden over the finish line with a diversity eligible VP candidate.
Once in office, they will be shocked to learn Biden is not up to the task.
Et voila. A far left Democrat in the White House.
Two women candidates? What about Gabbert?
So the whole "that little girl was me" busing episode is all just water under the bridge, huh?
I think Ace of Spades put it well at his blog: “That little sell-out was me.” KH says and does whatever is opportune. Power BAMN!
Elizabeth and I have a very special relationship
Does this mean Harris will stay true to form and sleep with Warren to get her next promotion?
How long until men start to advantage other men in preference to any woman? Only seems fair.
"Endorsing racist pro-busing Biden"
I thought he was anti-busing. The guy had common sense, at one point. Or at least knew his voters.
I thought Kamala told us Biden is a racist?
So is Quid Pro Joe a racist-racist or just a racist? Politicians are such hypocrites. When they campaign, their opponents are Anti-Christs. Then they do a 180 and are BFFs.
What was promised in return for her endorsement? Was a vacation house on a lake involved?
Tulsi's not a Senator. She's invisible to Kamala. Duh.
The ransom tape, thats whatthey are talking about.
She was so bad and Presidential campaigning, there is no way she will be he VP nominee.
The ransom tape was recorded a week before it was released last Sunday morning.
Not veep. She provides nothing; actually would be a negative for a ticket. Angling for AG.
One week: "You're a racist"!
One week later: "VP, possibility"?
The next week: "You're the most bestest person, evah".
Straight from the Kamels Toe.
What a bullshit article...This is what passes for coverage of our political leaders? Jonathan Capeheart may have a more promising future writing puff pieces for Hollywood celebrities.
OK, we knew Dems were completely shameless.
We knew they were ready to gamble, by letting Bernie run at all, writing off a part of their former base, trying the baseless Russia and impeachment coup attempts, etc.
But this is a very big risk they are taking: sure, Joe might cause less damage than Bernie down ballot, and at least he gives "moderates" like Althouse a chance to rationalize a Dem vote, and he offers establishment Dems a chance to move up in the hierarchy, but -- the guy who can barely get through reading the teleprompter for 10 minutes still has to make it to the finish line.
Not a special enough relationship that she would endorse Warren before she dropped out, apparently. Sanders is also her colleague...
I have often referred to Althouse as gullible, but I sense a thoroughly appropriate level skepticism with respect to Capeheart’s story. Good.
Kamala for AG!
A blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while, Big Mike.
Biden needs to get out of Michigan before he gets his ass kicked:
WATCH: "You’re full of sh*t," @JoeBiden tells a man who accused him of "actively trying to end our Second Amendment right."
"I support the Second Amendment," Biden adds while vising under-construction auto plant in Detroit.
A ringing endorsement to bump Biden.
We knew they were ready to gamble, by letting Bernie run at all, writing off a part of their former base, trying the baseless Russia and impeachment coup attempts, etc.
Why did they agree to let him run for their party's nomination?
No love for Tulsi. She is the skunk at the Democratic picnic - albeit, an attractive skunk.
What are the odds Slo-Joe cancels his appearance at the 3/15 debate with Bernie? "Cough, cough, I think a little self-quarantine would be a good idea." I'm putting the odds at over 50% Joe says no, because after tomorrow's primaries he'll have little or nothing to lose by not debating.
But there’s more to the story of Harris’s endorsement. Yes, she genuinely likes Biden.
"A man... well, more than a man, a god, a great god... Someone whose boots I would gladly lick...."
I had two women colleagues in the race, and I did not feel right putting my thumb on the scale [that] in any way would harm their candidacy.
In my opinion, she overestimates the value of her endorsement. The results of her thumb on that scale would be negligible.
To be fair, we are all forgetting about Tulsi.
Speak for yourself. Women marginalize Tulsi a lot faster than men. Cat fight and all that.

here is how
I am anti-busing - of the children
I am pro-busing - of the teachers
There's a special place in Hell for women who don't support each other.
"... I did not feel right putting my thumb on the scale [that] in any way would harm their candidacy,' Harris said,
In earlier days, Kammy had no problem putting her [blank] on the [blank] in any way that would help her candidacy.
Sanders is also her colleague...
Nope. He’s not a female Democrat senator. In fact, he’s not a Democrat senator at all!
It would have been so easy for the DNC to tell Sanders that he was welcome to join their party in 2016, but then he left it again after losing the nomination and he failed to support the 2016 nominee adequately, so he’s not welcome back. So they could have stopped him at the beginning, when there were other alternatives besides Slow Joe still in the race. They gambled and they lost.
The endorsement video looked like a Hanoi Hilton hostage video. Some were watching to see if she blinked her eyes in Morse code.
Is anyone really surprised at KH's, or any politician's, acting in a self-serving manner? Consistency and sincerity are mythical concepts with politicians. This is a big meh as far as I'm concerned.
Women are not great in national government. They can't think systems, which is where national policies fail.
Biden plus somebody wno would make a good president would be a better choice.
Busing was voodoo integration.

The "little girl on the bus" that took a shot at Slow Joe now wants to get on the Biden bus for a shot at a position in his administration.
And if Biden does get elected--so the Never Trumpers can have a "return to normalcy", there'll be a sort of assisted living facility in the Oval Office. Joe will show up--but he won't be calling the shots. The folks around him will be the administration. It'll be Val Jar on steroids. And if you are an ambitious Democrat pol, you'll naturally want to be part of that.
Senators are not "colleagues" of the folk in the lower house.
No true candidate.
Does anyone think Harris would disregard AOC if she were still in the race because she's not a Senator?
Then let's stop pretending otherwise.
(eaglebeak)
There's something amusing in a way about quoting Gibbon on separation of powers--American republic's notion of separation of powers is not quite what Diocletian had in mind and the separation certainly didn't do anything for Rome (noting that the title of Gibbon's book is Decline and Fall, etc., and the subject is the case study of a government that was on the skids from its inception, even though the Empire managed to last, sort of, for 500 years. Rome itself as a state power existed a lot longer than that, but I'm talking about the Empire, from Augustus assuming that title--having previously used his name Octavian--until the German king Odoacer deposed the last emperor, Romulus Augustus, in 476.)
It's just all about politics. They all do this sort of thing, Republican and Democrat. If it's in your interest to make nice with your former opponent, you do so.
The problem Biden has is more than just the cognitive decline. That's real, but he mostly seems so dead tired all the time. I watched the video of Biden speaking in Kansas City. He was coherent enough (at least until he mentioned re-electing Trump, when he struggles to make his point), but the bigger issue is that he has so little snap or vigor.
If Biden (God forbid) wins the election, his running mate is almost sure to become president at some point. So, the competition to be Biden's running mate is bound to be intense.
Browndog that clip alone is gold for Trump. A clip of Senile Joe promising to make gun grabber Beto in charge of "gun policy" juxtaposed with that clip is more than enough for the pro-second amendment voters.
'I really do believe in Joe,' Harris told me.
Slow Joe is in Michigan touring an auto factory. Someone questioned him about gun control, and he started prattling along about AR-14s, and machine guns. He concluded his argument with "You're a horses ass!!"
He sounds confused. You have to conclude that he's profoundly demented. I can think of exactly one reason why they allow this to continue.
All Hail, the slurring sack of chardonnay from Chappaqua.
"I think Kamala meant women of my rank..."
"Caste" - The word is "caste."
"You’re full of sh*t"
Now that's voter outreach for you.
Will Joe make it to November?
Kamala Harris has one talent.
She can convince powerful men she likes them.
Nothing posted by the WAPO is worth the pixels that display it or the paper it is printed on.
Way overdetermined, and obviously not just about rank. Gabbard is not, and has never been, even remotely competitive; plus, she's nuts.

You mean hump, right?
I've been reading Gibbon's immense three volume classic, and Holy Marathon, Batman: it so very, very, much.
"She'd GLADLY suck his c..."
She'll have to wait for Capeheart to finish.
rhh,
"
Biden plus somebody wno would make a good president would be a better choice."
A very poor choice for Biden's longevity.
Octavian never took the title of Imperator (Commander in Chief). It was ascribed to him by those coming later. He called himself Princeps (First Citizen) and Augustus (the August One). Plus all the major titles borrowed from the Roman Republic, like Tribune and Consul.
Is it any wonder that "that little girl," who rose to the top by paying homage to Mayor Brown's Willie, would say the friendship is real? Kissinger was only half-right. Power is the biggest aphrodisiac. It's also the most powerful opiate.
