Pompeo could have easily said, "No," and then explain why he didn't an apology was owed. Instead he threw a temper tantrum like a spoiled brat.

Imagine being pummeled by a media who hates you and your boss to the point where you everything you say to them is twisted to mean the opposite of what you actually said. Now imagine that happening for 3 straight years, nonstop. Try to imagine the pressure from that.

Now imagine some random wise guy on the internet who wasn’t there, opining on what should have happened during one of those times.

Mary Kelly deserved every one of those f-bombs and more. Fornicate ‘em all, sideways, with a swordfish.

What part of “he can fire her worthless ass for any reason” are you not understanding? The only reason Trump needs is “because I said so”. She serves at the “pleasure of the president” is pretty straightforward. It’s none of the Chucks, Mary Kellys or anyone else.’s business.

Re: the fired ambassador. This is a replay of the non- scandal of Bush 43 firing a bunch of US Attorneys who weren’t doing what he wanted. The Dems and the press cook these things up every time there is a GOP president.

By the way, would the “scandals” be any less lurid if any other Republican were president? John McCain and Mitt Romney were spared learning how awful they were and are by being losers. They sort of morphed into heroes because the press likes Republican losers. Amusingly, the press has contempt for Democratic losers. Lurch is a figure of comedy, Gore went deep into the mire, and Hillary is fast becoming a figure to hate— losers all.

Not necessarily. You land a little faster and flatter. It would certainly warrant an inspection, but certification standards are far below the actual force limits that an airframe can handle for a reason. A cushion. If my airplane is on fire I'm not going to wait to dump fuel to my max landing weight to land. I'm getting on the ground as soon as I can before my controls are burned up.

Why would anyone get on an airplane that was guaranteed to be destroyed on impact right after takeoff?

Deep Space Nine was by far the best of the Trek spin-offs, and better than much of TOS. And the series had nothing to do with world-building.

As it progressed, DS9 was about two things - religious faith (right from the pilot) and good and evil in the form of intergalactic war.

As Sisko came into being, he even out-Kirked James T. Of all the Trek commanders, he has been the most bad ass. And as the Emissary, he brought a dimension to Trek that others dared not go to. Meanwhile, the Female Shapeshifter was the most evil villain in all of Trek, far exceeding poseurs like Khan.

Ehh. You'd probably put him somewhere in the middle. He was certainly a more successful diplomat than president. He also seemed to be a pretty bad politician who was pretty damaged by the 1824 election.
