"Sure, Trump has been consumed by the impeachment proceedings, popping off daily, if not hourly, about what he dubs a 'hoax.' But..."

"... he and his aides also have staged photo opportunities and public events designed to showcase the president on the job — a strategy one year out from the election to convince the American people that he is hard at work for them at the same time that Democrats are trying to remove him from office. 'I’m working my ass off,' Trump told a thunderous rally crowd of roughly 20,000 on Tuesday night in Sunrise, Fla. He added: 'The failed Washington establishment is trying to stop me because I’m fighting for you and because we’re winning. It’s very simple.'... Trump interrupted his Thanksgiving vacation here in Florida with a 36-hour trip to Afghanistan, where he... rallied about 1,500 uniformed military personnel packed into a hangar at Bagram.... Lacking a bevy of big achievements of late, Trump has striven to make a show of whatever he can. On Monday, he invited journalists into the Oval Office to observe him signing the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act...."

From "Trump’s photo op play: Facing impeachment, the president strives to look hard at work" by Philip Rucker in The Washington Post.

All right, then, I'm thinking this is about 10 more articles of impeachment. Everything he does he does as a political ploy. We know what's in his head! That Ukraine call had no legitimate purpose. Impeach! And if he goes to Afghanistan, it's just for a rally, a trick to look like he's doing the job of being President. Impeach! We're onto his game — striving to look hard at work. These seeming accomplishments are nothing but an anti-impeachment campaign, a re-election campaign. Personal interest, not national interest. It's impeachable all the way down. He doesn't give a damn about suffering animals. He just figures animals are popular, so he poses as a benefactor of animals.

Speaking of popular, you know who was popular? Bill Clinton, back when he was getting impeached. Trump "recently met... with former Clinton strategist Mark Penn, who counseled the president to focus on governing and travel frequently." That's what Clinton did when he was impeached. But "Clinton had a built-in advantage that Trump does not enjoy: popularity." Sorry, Trump, you're not popular. Whatever you do will be used against you.

ADDED: From the comments at WaPo: "Does he take Barbie with him everywhere he goes? He rails against Hunter Biden being on a board in Ukraine because of Joe Biden's connections, yet Ivanka is stuck to him like glue, and we taxpayers are paying for every perk she gets. DISGUSTING!!"/"He's grooming her for 2024, god forbid"/"Silicone barbie has the personality (and brains) of a doormat; she's not going anywhere."

It is so obvious, even an idiot like Inga should see that the contrast between Congress doing nothing and Trump governing makes a strong impression on anyone not inherently biased.

Well, maybe not Inga.

I see lefties bragging about all the bills Congress has passed. Which ones ? Green Nude Eel? Impeachment resolution ?

Nope and nope.

WaPo would rather Trump just resign and slink out of office in the dark of night.

Here's a serious question (or two): Who the hell is financially supporting media propaganda like The Washington Post and how can I get them to blow their money even faster to no avail? Is it as simple as buying more through Amazon?

Passively watching the WaPo flail is getting old and I'd like to help them actually fail.

no he had the press and the entertainment media, so far inside his pants, they needed a penicillin shot, this was the era in which al queda rose to prominence, while Clinton was either ignoring it, or providing air cover for it in the Balkans, where the military was slashed, where the intelligence assets were purged, and the best aviators were subject to the tailhook purge, he also planted the seeds of the subprime crisis, through concerted government action with hud, with the justice department, this was also the era of the consent decrees against every major urban police department,

So we've already forgot that Obama not only hauled Michelle with him everywhere he went, but her Mom too? Hell a bunch of times they took separate planes to the same destination. Check out the staffing levels and budget of the First Lady's office under Obama and under Trump and get back to me.

The sheer ignorance of the Left would be astonishing of it wasn't so persistent.

The Washington Post is no longer a serious newspaper. It’s over. It’s Newsweek with a bigger budget. It’s DailyKos with better production values.

The problem with getting Trump to resign is New York State is waiting to throw him in jail for crimes yet to be discovered or settled on. You have to give a man a way out or he has no choice but to fight.

and I am genuinely undecided this year. Those of you who are pleased with these seemingly exciting new weapons to use in the fight to defeat Trump are losing perspective. You are not thinking about how you look to the people you need to convince. Here’s a clue: you look ugly.

I dunno. He seems to be doing OK without the lefty advice to me. He's obviously a workaholic. Take a look at who is attending his rallies. An amazing amount of Democrats and new or infrequent voters. Minority support in the 30's. The man's stamina is almost unbelievable. Impeachment mania down, favorables up. I still need proof that photo is doctored.

If you think the Dems and MSM are batshit crazy now, wait until the election draws near.

The charge that he is doing things just for political expediency is easily refuted by *what* he is doing. He has his neck stuck way out on China, NK, Syria, Iran. If his motive was simply looking good he could have found some meaningless compromises domestic and foreign.

Americans need heroes. And Trump does that job for us at no extra charge. He has out maneuvered every wrap up smear that David Brock and Christopher Steele have written and thrown in his path to kill him. It has driven Pelosi full alcoholic. And like the Road Runner, Trump has a good time watching the Dem's team of coyotes fall into every trap they dig for him.

And remember Barr and Giuliani are laughing it up along with us. To get to the full Seven Samurai you would add Pompeo, Donald, Jr., Melania, Ivanka, and Jared.

Trump does pretty well considering he has to deal with a congressional majority hellbent on betraying their country.

One thing that's weighing more heavily as time goes by—China is the Nazi Germany of our day. Opposing China will be a major factor in deciding my vote in 2020. For all the obstruction, the one thing Trump does that receives bipartisan support is stand up to China. Yet, if standing up to China is so popular that even Trump can get bipartisan support doing it, then why is Trump the first president to stand up to China? Will the next president continue Trump’s China policies? I’m not confident anyone other then Trump will turn the screw like he does.

Jeff Bezos. And if you wanted to buy Amazon from him, he might throw in the WaPo. Otherwise, last I knew, he was in roughly the richest 0.00000000000125% (1.25e-10, for those who have a hard time counting all those zeros) people on the planet.

$$$$$$$$

The answer is money. A lot of money. The Ukrainians could afford to pay the Biden’s a million or two. The Chinese gave Hunter and his politically connected buddies over a $billion$ to “manage”. This goes back at least as far as the Clinton Administration, where Clinton and Gore seemed to always be getting caught taking money from the Chinese.

One of the things that is becoming obvious is that a good part of why Trump is so loathed in DC is that he has been derailing the government gravy train. There are very good reasons that some of the richest zip codes in the country are in and around DC. And it mostly isn’t the GS-7 bureaucrats. They make their money steering contracts to federal contractors, getting favorable policy from our govt, and even, like the Ukraine, the rake from the foreign and military aid we gave them. While the Democrats, with much more control of the bureaucracy (with so many govt workers supporting that party), get more graft than the Republicans, the Republicans get their share too. it is truly a bipartisan undertaking.

The subtext of Trump's campaign is that the media are unfair and biased. Such reporting reinforces the subtext of Trump's campaign. They don't seem to have caught on that such overtly biased reporting by the news and entertainment industry helps rather than hinders support for Trump among his supporters.....Any time they mention the venality of Trump's children, my mind automatically shifts to thoughts of Hunter Biden and Chelsea Clinton. The Romney, Obama and Bush families have nice kids. Clinton and Biden not so much.

Bret Easton Ellis seems to understand that the anti-Trump left has gone mad:
During the months after the election I could count the number of times my inconsolable boyfriend had left the condo—and didn’t need more than two hands to tally them up. His hair became long and tousled, he hadn’t shaved for months, and he also developed three nonopiate addictions: Russian conspiracies as discussed on Reddit, Rachel Maddow detailing Russian conspiracy theories on MSNBC, and playing Final Fantasy XV. If I made even an offhand quip disparaging legacy media or fake news or the striking shifts in tone and bias that had occurred in certain national news organizations, his hackles would rise and he’d glare at me, believing deeply that anything the Trump administration said about fake news and the awful media could not be trusted. He was part of the supposed resistance—though too tired and stoned to actually go out and resist. The election had turned him into a wreck. At times he resembled a bedraggled and enraged Russian peasant, ranting and stomping around the condo, MSNBC blaring, yelling “Piece of shit!” whenever Trump’s visage appeared on the TV screen in the living room. If he read something in any of his feeds that implicated Trump in some Russian involvement he’d jump up and down and start clapping his hands in delight. “Impeachment! Impeachment’s coming. I can’t fucking wait.”
