The sun rises in the same place, far to the south, in Australia as it does here; but takes the long path northward across the sky instead of the short path southward across the sky, in our winter, their summer.
We humans have had fire for a long time. It is one of the neatest tricks of modern life that someone figured out how to make electricity from fire by using metal arranged into a power plant.
My career has been focused on making the use of electricity more efficient. But let's remember why we use electricty in the first place. It does more for us than fire.
A few years ago I was getting a medical treatment that involved a big machine, in an air-conditioned room, and lit by electric lights. Without someone having invented the power plant my only alternative would probably have been just suffer and die early.
Having seen several British murder mystery series recently, I wonder if a modern series where the chief detective inspector and his sargeant detective inspector solve the cases of wrong-think around town would be good.
That's supposed to be the modern British police priority. Murder is way down the list.

That's a beauty, even without clouds. Not as dramatic though.
The dawn comes up like thunder out of Williamson St. across the lake.

That looks like a power plant on the far shore.

It's getting dark at 6:30 and it's not even daylight savings yet. Dammit.

Governor Nelson State Park?
6:30pm sunset? Luxury! 5:48pm in these woods tonight.
"The precise actual sunrise time today was 7:23."
I'm willing to bet it was much more precise than that.
Not the first time that "23" has been prominently featured on this blog, is it?
Probably won't be the last either. After all, hafta keep those people happy, eh?
Happy Valley, rrhhardin? In series 2 they actually do solve a murder. Silly show, but gotta love the way that they talk.
Can't wait for D/S time. Tired of getting up in the dark and Sunrise at 730.
