Someone should definitely tell Donald Trump...

Someone should tell Harris that you have to obstruct justice to actually be charged with obstruction.

OK - What obstruction?

Who cleared the Bidens?
Oh right -that the media cleared the Bidens of any wrongdoing.
The media cleared Hillary of any wrong-doing.

Excellent.

I believe the administration has agreed to cooperate with an impeachment inquiry if the House starts one.

And for pursuit of justice apparently.

But yeah, that’s more of her passivity. I guess she is a little bit intimidated by the light and smoke show the Great and Powerful Trump puts on daily.

"I believe the administration has agreed to cooperate with an impeachment inquiry if the House starts one.”

They plan to impeach the president without his having a right to defend himself. I think that McConnell should do a full trial in the Senate to make up for the lack of due process in the impeachment, to subpoena witnesses, including the ‘whistleblower’ and Schiff’s staff and subject them to cross examination.

This whole “It will be official and according to Hoyle as soon as we finish our secret hearings and our members have read the polls."

Attempting to jail innocents on bullshit charges is apparently a power trip the ex-prosecutor Harris just can't get over.

She's in "reading the stage directions" mode, which is a clear indication she should exit stage left or right.

Yeah, strip the accused of as many rights as possible if that’s what it takes to get a conviction."

She's from the ham-sandwich school of crime prosecution.

Be sure and keep a copy of this for later, just in case there's a horrible bus crash or an asteroid strike that decimates the Democrat field and leaves her the only one standing, and then something awful happens to Trump and she becomes president by default. Because I get the feeling that if anyone would be likely to obstruct justice, say by not giving exculpatory evidence to defense lawyers or something like that, I think that Harris would be right at the top of the list. This is one of those "mote in the eye" cases.

Someone should tell Kamala that she’ll never be President. She’s a vacuous empty vessel that only ever got ahead by giving head.

What the Dems have figured out as part of this impeachment reality TV show is to just make conclusions. Trump is obstructing justice. Trump is shredding the constitution. Trump is destroying our democracy. There are never any specifics or real facts to back it up.

And if one pushes back - like Sen. Ron Johnson did the other day with Chuck Todd - it is a Fox News conspiracy theory.

Trump just needs to say the following ad nauseum:

"I'm curious if the house is going to start an impeachment inquiry. The Speaker & Schiff keep talking about it as if they are dictators ruling by fiat; they forget they are not executives but are representatives and need to hold a vote in the house. But they've been talking about impeachment for 2+ years and continue to do the same - talk."

She's angling for AG in a Hillary-brokered convention. Yeah, I know AG's aren't chosen at conventions, but such promised are made at such conventions.

God help us.

Of course you can be impeached for obstruction of justice. You can apparently be impeached for nothing at all but the fact you exist and occupy an office the Democrats believe is rightly theirs.

Obstruction of justice? Like falsifying a criminal defendant's confession?:

Kern County prosecutor Robert Murray added two lines of transcript to “evidence” that the defendant confessed to an even more egregious offense than that with which he had been charged—the already hideous offense of molesting a child. With the two sentences that state’s attorney Murray perjuriously added, Murray was able to threaten charges that carried a term of life in prison.

That wasn't Harris herself. But she defended the prosecutor's misconduct in her capacity as Attorney General for California:

Undaunted by the criminal conduct of a state prosecutor, or the district court’s opinion, Ms. Harris appealed the decision dismissing the indictment. According to the California attorney general, only abject physical brutality would warrant a finding of prosecutorial misconduct and the dismissal of an indictment. Fortunately for all of us—and the Constitution—she lost again.

I mean, on the one hand, it is California, so you have to grade on a curve here. By the standards of banana republics, California is pretty good. But as a California prosecutor, Harris has had to defend some pretty shady stuff.

I'm left to wonder why the Democrats would not want the process to be as transparent as possible.

Orwell was so, so right about language. Look at how the Dems have used language to roll out the impeachment reality TV show.

The term "whistleblower" signifies a brave and virtuous person trying to tell the world the Truth. This brave person needs protection from evil doers that want to take his job and, maybe, his life. That's why the secret hearing has to be conducted away from the Capitol and behind a screen. Like the Mafia hearings in the movies and in the 50's. His life is in danger! (Aside: Ask Steve Scalise and Ron Paul about violence from political opponents.)

In fact, these persons are anonymous Deep State leakers who have policy differences with their boss, the President, and are trying to get him fired. Think of that: The President was elected by the entire country and some low-level employee of the Executive is conducting a coup.

From my screenwriting experience, we are now at the Bad Guys (actually Good Guys) closing in on the protagonist.

Don't think about this event in terms of legal or political terms. Think about it in terms of drama and reality TV. The Dems, of course, are in over their heads. Trump was the King of Reality TV and a WWF Hall of Famer. He will crush them.

I look forward to impeachment hearings where the Democrats won’t let the witness be seen or questioned. It would be clarifying.

Dave Begley said...

Latest part of the Impeachment Reality TV show: Diplomat *ordered* not to speak. Ergo, Trump is covering up. Covering up is obstruction of justice. The coverup is worse than the crime. Impeach!

Try this. Executive privilege. It is long standing constitutional right of the president. I want to know what Washington was telling Jefferson when he was Amb. to France. Make Jefferson tell Congress. Or how about the communications between FDR and Amb. Joe Kennedy. Or LBJ and the Amb. to Vietnam? We want the Truth!

Kneepads Harris has no chance. Discussing her is a waste of time.

Donald Trump needs to be reminded that Hillary still isn't in jail and that is once campaign promise he needs to keep. It would nicer if the whole Obama Administration Gang Of Criminals were to join Hillary in prison.

Per wiki: "As announced in Wilkinson v. United States, a Congressional committee must meet three requirements for its subpoenas to be "legally sufficient." First, the committee's investigation of the broad subject area must be authorized by its chamber; second, the investigation must pursue "a valid legislative purpose" but does not need to involve legislation and does not need to specify the ultimate intent of Congress; and third, the specific inquiries must be pertinent to the subject matter area that has been authorized for investigation."

1. This investigation has not been authorized by the chamber.
2. Kinda hard to argue that a fishing expedition is valid, but YMMV.
3. Since nothing's been authorized, this is entirely moot.

In other words, fuck off Schiff.

Of course a President can be impeached for obstruction of justice. One was impeached for obstruction of justice in 1998. He pressured people to perjure themselves and to destroy evidence. And still-serving Senators Collins, Durbin, Feinstein, Leahy, Murray, Schumer, and Wyden all agreed that obstruction of justice was not worthy of removal from office.

Lara Bazelon, a professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, in January, wrote a piece in The New York Times titled “Kamala Harris Was Not a ‘Progressive Prosecutor.’” In it, Bazelon wrote, “Ms. Harris fought tooth and nail to uphold wrongful convictions that had been secured through official misconduct that included evidence tampering, false testimony and the suppression of crucial information by prosecutors.”

Ms. Harris. this is what obstruction of justice looks like.

Well, technically you can be indicted for wearing your necktie too long if enough Democrats think that that is a high crime and misdemeanor. Those long neckties are an open invitation to lynchings and are probably what inspired those bigots to attack Jussie Smollett.....Personally, I hope they indict Trump for the Stormy Daniels contretemps. I'd much rather research porn stars than Ukrainian comedians.

This is what prosecutors do. Their 'job performance' hangs on successful prosecutions, not meting out justice. From what I understand, she was good at her job; a lot of [little] people are in jail for innocent or minor crimes, or the inability to mount even a reasonable defense.

I don't think that's going to happen. Once they make it an actual impeachment inquiry Republicans will be able to call and even subpoena witnesses.
