When Cher is the voice of sanity, America is in trouble.
Cher gave $300k to Imus's project to fund a veterans' hospital too, as well as giving a lot of her own personal time to working with veterans.

According to the articles linked earlier there were 7 teachers and school employees fired for this same offense last year. One of the articles linked yesterday, a letter from a Madison parent who knows the former security employee, specifically mentioned a white female teacher fired for using the word in class trying to discuss why that kind of language was wrong.
Did ANYONE hear about any of those 7? Does anyone now give a shit about any of them? So weird--can't think of any explanation.
If the problem is the policy then it seems like people ought to care about at least some of those 7. If the problem is the policy got applied to a guy we like (as opposed to people we don't) then this isn't exactly a principled stand, just a prominent case of special pleading.
Nothing as fascist as a zero-tolerance policy. I hope the school district gets sued.
